I've integrated mediawiki api into my app, but the response of mediawiki api does not match with wiki how search results. Can anyone share your experience regarding this issue.
Note:
I haven't seen any documentation for wikihow api.
yes .wikihow has a way of hiding their base url(endpoint) so that no api call can derive data from it.the best thing to do is use libraries like scrapy to scrape the website.otherwise.mediawiki apis are not working currently

there,
Does Google Map API V3 include solution that allows to track moving assets without us having to develop additional mobile apps (apps to be installed on each asset to be tracked)?
My company is a Google Maps APIs Premium plan business user and we have several .Net C# web pages already using Google Map API. And we are looking for the possibility to add a moving-assets-tracking feature on our website now, but we prefer not to get into mobile app developments for this.
If that possible? I googled, but not seeing much info on this. Could you please provide some detailed examples?
Thanks!
Asset tracking is possible with Google Maps Platform, but I don't think this is possible without installing an application to the asset being tracked as there
could be no means to track it.
By V3, if you are referring to JavaScript API then it is not possible.
You may read about asset tracking in this documentation:
https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/asset-tracking/
Contacting sales team for Google Maps might be able to provide you something. But this is still unsure. The contact sales form can be found in the link above.
In the old Maps URLs API, you could add "&dirflg=dt" in the URL.
Here's an example URL using the new API taken from Google's official pages here:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&origin=Google+Pyrmont+NSW&destination=QVB&destination_place_id=ChIJISz8NjyuEmsRFTQ9Iw7Ear8&travelmode=driving
In the Google official pages, I was unable to find anything related to sending it flags to avoid tolls so I'm not even sure if it is possible with the new API.
Does someone have any info to enlighten me with? Thanks for reading.
:)
This is not possible with the Maps URL in this version, but you can do this manually after loading the directions.
You can try this:
Load the URL. (eg.:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&origin=Google+Pyrmont+NSW&destination=QVB&destination_place_id=ChIJISz8NjyuEmsRFTQ9Iw7Ear8&travelmode=driving)
On the left part of the screen, click OPTIONS.
Under Avoid, check Tolls.
However, if you want this functionality to be in the parameters, you can send your ideas by going in the Maps URLs Documentation and click SEND FEEDBACK. Or you can submit this as a Feature Request in Google Issue Tracker
Hope this helps!
This is possible, but you have to use "undocumented" features.
Warning: Since these are not documented features, they probably aren't official and likely subject to change without notice. Use in production at your own risk.
tldr:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/{origin}/{destination}/data=!4m3!4m2!2m1!2b1
Plug in origin and destination and it should load directions, avoiding toll roads.
Explanation:
Here, we are using Google's own data/options string (see: "data=") to get the desired functionality. It is meant to be used by the Google Map's web app itself to communicate options selected on the page. This article (and the ones following it) explain how to create your own "data=" strings to customize how the map is configured. It's quite comprehensive, but like I said above, its not an official feature.
As the user types words, Google translate will dynamically in real-time translate the text on the other side.
Try it out at translate.google.com
Now I hope to mimic this feature on a translation website I'm building. I'm using React for the development.
Thanks.
To do this, you can use the google translate API
Google provides great documentation and tutorials here
If you want to implement the asynchronous calls, you will need to make an ajax request after each word is typed

I'm new to both iOS programming & the Google Maps iOS SDK, so apologies if this is a basic question.
I want to include a Google map, in an app and give users the ability to search for various places (restaurants, bars, gyms, etc) within a certain radius of a marker.
I know this is possible using the javascript api, but can it be done using the maps iOS SDK? I have read all of the information here and have searched Stack Overflow & Google but I can't really find anything that gives me any pointers.
Within the documentation, Google say that using a URL Scheme you can launch a native iOS app and pass in parameters for searches, directions etc. Is this what I need to be using, or is that more tailored to a webapp?
Any help, advice, or pointers to tutorials (other than the ones provided by Google) would be massively appreciated.
Cheers
The Google Maps URL Scheme can currently only be used to open the Google Maps app to search for a location or for directions. It can't search for places. Also, if your own app did this, then it would shut down your app and switch to the maps app, which may not be what you want. It will also only work if the user has installed the Google Maps app.
You would probably want to use the Google Places API to make http requests from your native app. You can request a response in either JSON or XML format. Then you'll need to parse the response, and use it to add markers to a GMSMapView using the Google Maps SDK for iOS.
This blog post describes this library which the blog post's author wrote to wrap the Google Places API. You wouldn't need most of this code, but it might give you an idea of where to start. This class is the main one which handles the requests to the places API.
Note that this library uses a third-party JSON parser - SBJsonParser. As of version 5.0 iOS includes a native JSON parser, NSJSONSerialization. So if your app's minimum supported iOS version is 5.0 or higher, you don't need to use a third-party library.
I want to create a web application which makes use of Google maps.
Features are quite simple:
Users can login (best with FB connect)
Users can post items which are geolocated
UI consists mainly of a google map with all items
I'm looking for something implemented where you would only have to specify the nature of your items.
Any ideas?
If you're not going to make money off of it, you can use ESRI's Javascript API for free:
