I am developing an application using 4D as front-end and postgresql as back-end. So i don't want the help menu to be displayed at front-end side. I do some research but i don't find any 4D commands to do so.
Also i went through 4D manuals which states that:
4D automatically manages the Help and application system menus.
These menus cannot be modified, except for the About 4D command,
which can be managed using the SET ABOUT command.
Is it really not possible or am i missing something?

I think you are correct. You cannot remove the Help menu or set any of its items aside from 'About'.
You can go through the components and plugins you may be using and remove any of the help files within them so that they don't show up on the menu.
That is about as good a solution as we've come up with.

I'm currently working on a Joomla website for a music festival. One of its pages contains a schedule with a list of performing acts.
My ambitious goal is to build a feature that makes my website's users able to mark certain acts as their favourites. In practice, clicking an icon would give it a visual highlight or something like that. The ideal situation would be that the user shouldn't have to sign in to save one's choises. I guess the solution would have something to do with the browser's local storage?
Here's one example for what I mean. (This is NOT my site, just an example of something I'm looking for).

This extension, http://extensions.joomla.org/extension/my-shortlist , should help with little or no modifications to the template.
If the above doesn't help, then you can the JED (the Joomla Extensions Directory) for an extension that is better suited to your needs.
I have done a search on this and I think I actually came away more confused. We are looking for a solution where we supply a card swiper for a mobile device. Just a swiper, we do not need a gateway solution.
We want to be able to have someone swipe a card and then have the card information auto-populate in an HTML form.
Simple question: Is this possible and if so, any suggestions on how to go about it? I cant seem to find much out there on this.

Pretty sure you need a activex or similar installed in the brower, to get hold of the PC's comport. I used Silverlight for the same reason. Wanted the input from a barcode scanner to act different that the operators input.

I have been building a site using basically html coding and have come stuck across a little problem that im sure somebody may be able to help me with.
The facebook comments box dosent seem to appear when i am trying to add the text shortcut to a site that ive created stored on a localfile. For example the site is called: file:///F:/GoogleMaps_FusionTables/WorkingCheckBox.html due to it being developed within a html file editor and not yet placed on a website.Is there anyway of getting this to test here before uploading it to a website server?
Any assistance or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

using a local web server will solve your problem.
HI, I', trying to add some menuItems to an AIR app application menu in the mac, I know that is possible to add to the standard one the application have instead of replace the whole menu, but I can't found any example on adding not replacing the whole the menu, can someone be kind on point me to an example of how to do that, thanks!!

I've created application menus for many applications, and it works just as described in this post (not written by me).
We are upgrading our project to 4D v12 and our QPix plugin stopped showing us a preview of the image we are about to take. The image capture works just fine; the only problem is that the preview simply shows a white screen.
If I select the "Video Settings..." button I get a screen with a preview, so I know that it should be possible to get the preview.
This is a longshot; if you need any more information I can provide it.
I heard back from Escape Tech Support and they claim that the issue is a bug in 4D v12. They are hoping for a fix in 4D v12.1.
MrHen, I'm glad you got an answer, even if it isn't a very satisfying on. Just so you know there isn't much in the way of 4D activity on SO (and most of what there is is for an unrelated application). If you have other issues I'd recommend the NUG or the official 4D forums.
