I create a MySQL storage in Microsoft Azure. What I did is from the portal I clicked "New > Data+Storage > MySQL". The I kept the defaults and continued. After everything Azure says the storage and all is now ready.
So, I went to "DashBoard > Clicked on my newly created database resource". Now I can see my IP address of the database.
I opened MySQL Work Bench, clicked "Database >Connect to Database" and inserted the IP I found in my above step. I kept port 3306 as it is. For the user name and password I inserted the username and password I inserted during my database creation.
Anyway I really can't connect to the database, I get the below error.
I even tried editing my "Security Group" in Azure. Below is a screenshot of what it contains now.

Even after all of these things, why I still can't connect to Azure MySQL?
I was using 'Bitnami' and 'Bitnami' comes with their own username and password! The default password for Bitnami is 'bitnami' and user name is 'root'

I have a database in phpmyadmin, which is not hosted in my local machine. I just have the username and password to enter in the database. link and info is below:
I want to connect the "outreachbin" database to power bi. for that i did the following steps:
1.Get Data > Database > MySQL Database
2.server:127.0.0.1:3306(also tried localhost:3306)
Database: outreachbin
3.Database:
username:phpmyadmin
password: *******
got error: "MySQL: Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts."
Also installed mysql connector but always getting this error. How can i solve this problem? Thanks
It appears from the screenshot you posted that phpMyAdmin is hosted on server IP 54.90.3.4. Assuming the database is hosted on the same server you may want to try setting your server value to:
server:54.90.3.40:3306
The port 3306 assumes that the database server is running on the default port.
So, if it is the first time you are connecting to it, then you can see an icon at the home page called as MySQL. Then click on it and it will ask details. It will ask the server name, enter the name and database if required. Then it verifies and asks the username and password to login. the server Ip in your image is IP 54.90.3.4 this is your hosted server. If your database is hosted on same server, you should set your same server value. Add the default localhost in the last. follow here to connect to powerBI
I just opened an account on Amazon AWS. In this account, I created a mysql database instance, that I am now trying to connect to on my home computer use mySQL Workbench. I have entered the database endpoint (as listed in my account) and added the user name I set up for the master username for the database. When I hit "test connection" (using standard TCP/IP connection) however, I get a "Failed to connect..." message. I have a feeling that the problem may be that I need to use SSL and/or SSH. But I am a neophyte here, and I don't know how to properly set this up or configure mySQL Workbench with this. I am seeking assistance
You need to allow your mysql server to the user my user policy.
You can allow your Public IP address.

I think there that my database instance was misconfigured somehow, though not as JERRY suggests. I created a new MySQL DB instance and was able to connect to that without needing any other special configuration changes. So I am now using the new instance, and have deleted the old one. I wish I could provide more insight into what the problem with the first DB was, but the insight I have is (as I said) after I created the 2nd DB instance, no other configuration was necessary
I'm trying to allow an application to connect via a connection string, and am having no luck; the application asks for a password. The only password I can find in the console is for the root user (which I guess is also the master password). I've changed the password and am trying to log in with MySQL Workbench, but the connection is denies.
What gives? Is there a way I can create a new user and password? If not, how long does it take for a new master password to set?
You will use the credentials you supplied when the instance was first created (see screenshot)
That's the "root" permissions you have after instance creation.
If you recently changed the password, it doesn't take long to update.
As long as the instance is an an available state on the RDS console you should be good with that new password.
No matter what you're going to need to know the username of the master user which was configured at instance creation.
Once that's done you should use individual MySQL users to make application connections, but that's a story for a different thread :)
If you still cannot connect, ensure your Security Groups assigned to the instance allow connection from wherever you're connecting from and ensure your firewall isn't blocking outbound to MySQL port (3306)

I just set up a new MySQL database with the MySQL workbench & created a user for it with all necessary privileges. I am using this database for use with my php code. But I can't seem to connect to it on my live server (pages are hosted on windows server 2012). Everything works fine in my local environment with xampp and the new MySQL database is exactly the same as the xampp one. I think I am maybe using the wrong host name or something. As host name I copied the name that is displayed after "Host:" when you click on Server Status in MySQL workbench. The database name, user & password should all be correct. But when my code tries to access the db I get a "The domain page isn’t working. Domain is currently unable to handle this request."
You either have no network connection to the server at all or it is blocked due to firewall or routing misconfiguration.
If you do have network access in general, you might forgot to
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
or you have not enabled networking over TCP, the default is to listen only to localhost (on unix systems via unix sockets, on microsoft I guess it's simply TCP).
Read about the following configuration parameter which will solve your networking issue:
bind-address
If you have a very old MySQL server version, the parameter is enable-networking but it shouldn't be the case anymore.
I am trying to connect to MySql db using VS2010. I added my ip address in cpanel allow hosts. I also grabbed the IP address for the server where the database is hosted which is just my website.
So I go to server explorer, right click database connections and clicked on add a connection
I select .NET Framework Data Provider for MySQL for Data Source
for Sever Name I typed the IP address for my website where the Database is
Typed in the user name and password who has all the privileges, and entered the Database Name too.
When I hit test connection I always getting "Unable to connect to any of the specified hosts"
any advice is appreciated

Have you tried adding % as your access host under Manage Remote MySQL Access of your Cpanel?
