Migrate ssrs 2008 r2 to ssrs 2016 - reporting-services

The current setup of the server is Windows Server 2008 sp1, with SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 r2 installed. The databases are on a separate server which is using SQL Server 2008 r2.
I have a new server with Windows Server 2012 r2, I have installed SSRS 2016 on this server and configured it the same as the original server, restored the encryption keys, and connected to an exact copy of the DB server.
Locally on the new RS server I can access and run the reports using the web interface http://{servername}/reports/. However when I try to access the same url remotely I get redirected to http://{servername}/reports/#/browse, I can see the folders and reports, but when I run a report I get a blank report.

It appears as if ssrs 2016 does not support IE9. The machine I was using to access the server remotely only had IE9 installed. When I used the IE development tools on the server itself to browse to the site using IE9 standards, I had the same problems.

SQL Server 2008 service not running

I updated my Windows 7 to SP1 for the purpose to install Visual Studio 2013. I am successfully done my job to install Visual Studio 2013. But the problem arises when I try to install SQL Server 2008 or 2008 R2 Management Studio.
The SQL Server service is not running in services.msc and the SQL Server Browser service is not even listed in SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Please help me because I have install SQL Server 2008 Management Studio several times and update it also to SQL Server SP1 but still not running SQL Server service in services.msc.
Due to this I cannot connect my database engine.
Providing I also enter the correct instance name several times by following the link

SSDT to open existing reports on existing report server

I don't know how to open existing reports on existing report server using SSDT.
I update my computer to SQL Server 2014 and SSDT.
Previously when I used SQL Server 2008, I used Report Builder to open existing reports by connecting existing Report Server.
How could I do like that using SSDT?
SSDT-BI is the SQL Server 2014 equivalent of the Business Intelligence Developer Studio (BIDS) development environment shipped with earlier versions of SQL Server. It is not a replacement for Report Builder, which is a seperate development tool. For SQL Server 2014 you will need to download the latest version of Report Builder from the Microsoft website:

Can I deploy deploy reports created on SQL 2008 R2 server onto the 2008 R2 server but used a SQL 2005 database on a different server as data source

I have a 2008 R2 Server and using it to create SSRS reports. The shared data source is actually located on a SQL 2005 server.
I tried to deploy a report to the local server (SQL 2008 R2) and got error :
"Cannot deploy the report because the shared data source that the
report references does not exist on the report server"
Is it possible to deploy these reports created on the 2008 R2 Server to the same machine(2008 R2 server)?
Yes, this is possible. Make sure you deploy the shared data source.
Look under the 'Shared Data Sources' folder in your Solution Explorer. Right click -> Deploy.

Moving database files created by SQL Server 2012 Express to SQL Standard 2008

I am planing to built database driven website with DotNetNuke and SQL Server Express 2012 on my laptop and than host it on web server that has SQL Server 2008 Standard edition.
Is SQL Server 2008 compatible with database files created by Server 2012?
Because I can install and build website using SQL Server 2008 Express Edition and upload to hosting provider server.
Is SQL Server 2008 compatible with database files created by Server
2012?
NO.
SQL Server database files are never backwards compatible - if you create a database on SQL Server 2012 - there is no way, no hack, no trick, no method to get this to be able to be restored or attached on an earlier version (e.g. 2008 / 2008 R2) of SQL Server.
No and it doesn't make much sense if you think about it. If it was the other way around, "maybe" it could be done (I actually never tried) because 2012 would somehow be aware of 2008 structure, but 2008 engine isn't aware of 2012 DB structure.

SQL Server 2008 R2 installed, still cannot open version 661?

Getting an error running a sample MVC2 site because of DB version errors. I ran the installer for SQL Server Express 2008 R2 and it finished, I rebooted. Try to run the site again and see the same error. Downloaded/ran R2 installer and chose upgrade but there is nothing to upgrade... is something wrong in my VS2010 or windows in general? Don't know what else to do.
Just ran a discovery report and 2008 is also installed. Maybe thats the problem?

I was able to connect VS 2010 to the SQL server database in this instance C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS. Also ensure in SQL configuration manager, SQL browser and SQL instances are running and set to automatic and Network service
Seems to me it will be able to connect to SQL express database instances only when logged in as administrator VS 2010 express editions to create/modify an application.
Two installions. Had two instance names. Changed the instance name in VS2010 database tools.
