I have a question. I want to make a panel/box like the Panel in Bootstrap 3 with a header background.
I made a little sketch in paint, that you can see how I mean it.
I tried adding a class to my box with a background as the image, but then my text below is ON the picture. I even tried making a new class IN the box div but it seems that is not the best option to do, also bootstrap also didnt made it like that and if I use padding the image also applied on the padding. I only want the content below to apply to my padding.
THE SKETCH, THE RED PART IS THE IMAGE it has 100% width

I have built a simple website which includes a parallax image gallery with accompanying text descriptions for each image. The gallery is underlaid with a simple repeating pattern wallpaper.
The images have no margin between them. Their borders are covered by the text box which has a higher z-index, and the discrepancy between the scroll speed of the images and texts creates the parallax effect.
I would like to allow the background wallpaper (bottom layer) to also be the background of the textbox but to achieve this, I would need to make the middle layer (the image) transparent where it is obscured by the text box.
I have no idea where to start with this - I suspect my best bet is to just ignore this problem remove the wallpaper altogether but perhaps there is a straightforward answer to this issue?
The included image has a semi-transparent text-box and borders to give an idea of the layout and the problem I'm facing. Would appreciate any ideas. thanks

I want to create something like below -
The card is indicated by the blue color inside which we have two texts. My approach was to add two divs inside the card div but the problem I am facing with that is, I want to put an image in the card and adding it in background doesn't fill the whole card and leaves some margin, which I tried to fix but didn't work. And have to write a lot of css to fix the margins padding etc for both image and text.
Is there a better way to achieve this ?
In place of blue color I will have an image.
If you look at what happens here when you reduce the screen width is that the big photo becomes shorter and shorter, still filling in the full 100% of the width:

Now, I don't find that appealing and would like to make that photo disappear and become a background of the whole top (navbar) part once the navigation bar becomes the button. However, I would like only a certain part of the photo to show up, not the whole width.
Any hints on how to achieve that?
Update: the tricky part here is that each page has its own image. Since this is jekyll, in theory, I could add a css entry in the <head> of each generated page for setting the background image of the navbar, but I'm not sure whether there is a more elegant solution.
Put the picture as a background for your nav-bar and use the css background-position attributes.
Use viewport and let the image (the img-tag) disappear
I am currently creating a one page website, however I am having an issue, I need the scroll text underneath the fixed element however you can see the text that should be dissapearing under the fixed position element, as the element as a back-ground, which is a transparent png, is there any way I can hide text as it scrolls underneath the fixed position element.
Here is a fiddle of what I have, so far
JS FIDDLE
Ideally I am wanting it so that when text moves behind the box with red borders it is not visisble, without the need for a background color.
I have visited your website and stolen some images to better understand what you are trying to accomplish.. Assuming i'm correct in the assumption you do not want a solid background on the header because it would mess with your pages background....
you can use multiple backgrounds...
see your demo
You will need something in #banner that will hide the text. From the css it looks like there is supposed to be a background image in that block, but it is not showing up.
The header is transparent as set in your css reset, so a color or image will be necessary if you want the text to be hidden. Otherwise, it's like moving the text behind a piece of glass...you will still see the text unless you have something to actually cover it.
I suspect if there was a working background image on the header, it would block the text where it wasn't transparent. When I add a background-color it achieves that effect.
I have this code: jsfiddle
I want it to look like this, but I do not want the surrounding div. I want to have the form overlay ontop of an image tag, but to look like the second link.
So how can i make the login box over the image without having the image as a background
In order to do what you want you must position the login box absolutely and set a z-index so that it will display properly. Here is a link: link
Personally I prefer to use a container with a background for this sort of thing, as positioning some thing absolutely can be complicated in the rest of the layout. Either way, this link should do what you want.
