I am using font awesom eicons in my app. I used this link in my index.html.
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1" />
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.4.0/css/font-awesome.min.css">
The icons are showing in my chrome browser and also it is showing in IE browsers in other's laptops. But it is not showing in my browser. Do I have to change any configuration or settings for my IE browser?

I'm at a loss for how to get this to work. I've tried just about every trick in the book and nothing seems to work. I've tried clearing my cache, using multiple web browsers, and multiple computers.
Here's the code I'm using. I can browse to this image via the URL just fine.
<head>
<title>Security</title>
<meta charset="UTF-8" />
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, minimum-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" />
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://cdn.sstatic.net/Sites/stackoverflow/img/favicon.ico?v=4f32ecc8f43d" type="image/x-icon">
<link rel="icon" href="http://cdn.sstatic.net/Sites/stackoverflow/img/favicon.ico?v=4f32ecc8f43d" type="image/x-icon">
</head>
The icon doesn't appear when I load the site and the Console tab of the Developer Tools isn't giving any error indications.
I've tested on:
Chrome: Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Firefox: Version 56.0 (64-bit)
IE: Version 11.0.9600.18793
I also tried generating my own using this website: https://www.favicon-generator.org/
Anyone have any ideas?
Here's the steps I followed:
Removed every trace of my previous attempts.
Went to https://www.favicon-generator.org/ and generated a new set of images.
Put the images in the following location /Images/Favicon
Copied the code provided by https://www.favicon-generator.org/ and placed that in my html section.
Completely cleared out everything from my Chrome history.
Closed and reopened Chrome.
Loaded the website again and it was there finally.
My scenario is I have iphone 5S device and safari browser. In this browser I opened a site (this site is included in bootstrap responsive also) with include below meta tag code.
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1.0">
If I opened the site with zoom in mode. everything is fine.
My problem is if open any other page of the same site it is showing zoom in view, but my requirement is if I open any page it will show normal view not in a zoom view. How can I do?
Shall I add any code in the meta tag? please suggest me
Use this
<meta id="id" name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" />
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#id").attr("content", "width=device-width, initial-scale=1")
})
I'm beginner in html and want to design simple site,i write any html code on my web and html head tag code is:
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<meta name="description" content="">
<meta name="author" content="">
<title>Shop Homepage - Start Bootstrap Template</title>
<!-- Bootstrap Core CSS -->
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<!-- Custom CSS -->
<link href="css/shop-homepage.css" rel="stylesheet">
<!-- HTML5 Shim and Respond.js IE8 support of HTML5 elements and media queries -->
<!-- WARNING: Respond.js doesn't work if you view the page via file:// -->
<!--[if lt IE 9]>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/libs/html5shiv/3.7.0/html5shiv.js"></script>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/libs/respond.js/1.4.2/respond.min.js"></script>
<![endif]-->
</head>
but that code just show me correct in microsoft edge,and dont show correct on firefox or any browser,how can i solve that?thanks.
You might be misunderstanding the purpose of this line:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
That line does NOT mean "will work in Microsoft Edge"
It instructs current and older versions of the Internet Explorer browser (and NOT edge) to use the most current document processing rules, rather than try to guess at the web developer's expectations as to how the web page document should be processed in Internet Explorer.
When the web developer includes the meta header, it tells IE to always assume that the web developer has tested the website against the latest version of IE, specifically regarding the "Compatibility Mode" of IE, and does not want IE trying to turn on Compatibility View.
Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers will ignore that line.
I'm using an FTP, and added some simple code to a website. On my desktop within this server, I can't view the content. I've tried Firefox, IE and Chrome. On my phone I can, and tech support could also view the content. I've cleared all cached data, but still nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions?
When I type in www.site.com/index.htm, the content will display on the desktop. When I just type in www.site.com, it won't. When I type in www.site.com on my phone, it will display.
This is the code displaying on my site:
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">
<title>Milani Reviews</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">
</head>
<body>
<p>fasdfaskl</p>
</body>
</html>
I've tried for hours to get the icon from the Chrome function "add to homescreen" (Zum Startbildschirm hinzufügen) but it appears only the icon for the normal favorits.
I use an IIS as webserver, and write the html exakt as in the Chrome Doku.
<title>MangoApp</title>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<meta name="mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes">
<link rel="icon" sizes="196x196" href="http://tatwebapp196x196.png">
I've tried with different paths like relative and absolut but always the same effect: no icon.
Tested on Nexus and Xcover2 with the newest Chrome browser Versions 36.0.1985.128 and 35.0 1916.141
What is wrong here, can anybody help ?
Thank you
Michaela
Since I can't comment yet (I should use this more!)...
I've tested, with an application I'm currently developing, on:
Nexus 10 (Chrome 36.) ~ favicon used
SG SV (Chrome 36.) ~ favicon used
SG SV (Chrome Beta 37.) ~ favicon used
and finally...
SG SIII (Chrome 35.0.1916.141 (for some reason)) ~ 196x196 icon used! (this is the same as a version you tested this on, though, so for reference, it's running 4.3 still)
I guess this should provide some more validity to Michael's point, so I guess I'll file a bug report and hope for an update soon. Regardless, I'm strangely glad to see there's actually a problem.
A link to my app, which is actually a game (the most stable thing should be the icons...) here.
It would be interesting to know if this is working in Chrome 37 now.
We are using the same meta tags with a slightly different format for the icon, adding the "type" attribute, that may matter. This works in Android 4.0+ with Chrome 37, as well as iOS.
