I'm getting the following error for one specific website (and only one specific website):
I've tried the following:
Making sure my time / data settings are correct
Clearing all browsing data
Deleting and reinstalling Chrome
Nothing works. Interestingly, I only get this error for one specific site (www.datacamp.com). And when I turn off wi-fi and tether my iPhone, I'm able to get through to the site. When I turn my wi-fi back on, I get errors again.
When I view details I see this:

I've tried deleting the certificate, but I get the following message:
Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you are getting this error when access localhost, simply go to
chrome://flags/
and enable Allow invalid certificates for resources loaded from localhost.

Ok, I don't know why it took me so long to try this. I just unplugged my modem and router, then plugged them back in. At least for now, it seems to have resolved the issue...

Check your connection's DNS entries. It's likely a adware or malware program modified them.

open network and sharing center
On the left side- click on:
change advanced sharing settings.
click on home or work.
go through and check "turn off" for the first three questions.
turn on password.
Your computer connection was wide open!!!!

Flushing DNS worked for me in Windows 10. Simply open powershell and issue this command:
ipconfig /flushdns

Adding Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and the Cloudflare DNS 1.1.1.1 solved my issue.

If you are facing this while visiting a website, you can follow below.
This might not solve the issue always. But, this is how I solve it around 8/10 times.
To Resolve this on Chrome :
[Approach 1]
Just Click on Proceed to www.xyzxyz.com..(unsafe)
[Approach 2]
Go to : chrome://net-internals/#hsts
Suppose the site for which the error shown is : https://twitter.com/xxx/yyy....
In the "Delete Domain" option, Enter domain as "twitter.com".
Press Delete.
Reload the page you were trying to visit.

GitHub Pages site works on mobile but not desktop?

My github pages site with a custom domain works just fine on mobile but when i try to access the same URL from desktop i get a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error. Any ideas why this may be ? The site can be found here if it helps Site

I doubt that it shows on your mobile, DNS records doesn't return anything WhatsMyDNS
Are you certain that you've got your DNS server up correctly.? I did a lookup for your domain name and it doesn't appear that you've got your CNAME pointing to GitHub pages. To do so, add a CNAME record to your domain via your domain registrar's dashboard. This should point to the name of your GitHub pages url (ex. john.github.io/xyz). You can read up on this more here.
I notice you say that it doesnt work if you add the www.. I'm not exactly sure why this is (there's not enough information to say why). I'm guessing you did not correctly set up the record, so here's what it should look like:
# A 4H 127.0.0.1
(You may change the TTL and IP, of course)
I'm guessing you forgot the # in the first field, which puts it under both www and the root subdomain. If this is not the case, you can attempt to fix this issue by adding www in a separate record to easily resolve the problem.

Note that this will work for both CNAME and A records.
Maybe desktop dns server is not so fast to fetch changes.
Change dns server in desktop connection settings for a public google's 8.8.8.8. For windows that's going to be Control Panel > Network and sharing center > Change adapter settings > Right click adapter (in my case it was WIFI) > Choose connection (Internet protocol Version 4) > Click Properties > Select "Use the following DNS server addresses" > Enter 8.8.8.8 in "Preferred DNS server" > Click OK
I am a newbie in the field and faced the same issue. Came here to find the solution. I just did plug out the ethernet and connected my laptop to my wifi and it worked.

TFS 2015 Code Viewer Not Working in Google Chrome

I found the following issue here in stackoverflow however cannot comment as yet. I have a similar issue and wonder if there is anyone out there that has solved it.

I am encountering similar here. In house TFS 2015, can't view code in the web portal using Google Chrome however IE is fine. I, however, am not using HTTPS so may be experiencing something slightly different.
When I do try to view a file in Chrome, the window where the code listing should be is simply blank. I did note too that the button for creating a new build definition appears to be indicating a broken image link.
This has not always been an issue. Around 4 months ago I could get the code view fine in Chrome and, to my knowledge as I have no access to the servers, nothing has changed apart from Chrome updates.
I've tried getting to previous versions of Chrome to no avail, though I wouldn't know which version I was on when this did work.
Interestingly, I have one or two .MD files around and these display perfectly well. They are simple text files. However when saved with .TXT extension (or anything else I've tried), they do not show. Curious.

As you will see from the screenshot below, when selection on a file has been made, in this case a .SQL file, where I would expect the view to populate nothing at all appears.
As for the F12, I do get 5 of these:
Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
plus associated paths of course. We use Webroot internally here which has recently dropped in a Chrome extension however even when Webroot is disabled in its entirety (including removal of extension) I get the same behaviour.
All other Chrome extensions have been removed too at varying times to try to give a clean browser.
I have no other pop up blockers, ad blockers, etc installed on the workstation.
Problem solved thanks to the F12 key suggestion.
After some grovelling I was granted domain admin privs to have a dig around everything. It turns out that TFS was installed on ServerA with a URL port of 8080, this I knew from the original install and obviously the path I follow to get to my TFS web interface. What had also been done subsequently, with no consultation of the Dev user group, was that a second TFS application tier had been installed on ServerB, the port here was 8088.
I had not noticed the difference in path initially, assuming it was Chrome or workstation related. Anyway, I altered the port on ServerB to 8080 and everything jumped into life. I should not have made assumptions and should have paid more attention to the path in the error!
It seems the second application tier was set up on a non-production environment to allow senior Dev users access to the TFS Management Console rather than allowing them access to the original app tier which was on a production box. Our IT Operations just forgot to tell anyone.
Try to update your chrome to latest version of (55.0.2883.87 m (64-bit)).
Also clear the cache of chrome. I have also encountered similar issues. The solution is clear cache and connect to the web portal use another ID, then connect back use the original ID. I have no idea which one solved the problem. You could try both.
This problem should only be an individual phenomenon, since TFS2015 has been released for a long time.

This webpage has a redirect loop (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS)

We have a site that is not working in Google Chrome V44. It works well in IE and Firefox. All of sudden after updating chrome browser to V44, we unable to login to the system and just receiving this problem.
We're trying to figure out as why this is happening. We have 2 instances of our system in our server. Our live site is the one that is not working in Chrome V44 while the other - our demo site is fine. The only difference of the these sites is that our live has SSL. So our first impression is that there's a problem with Chrome V44 with our site with certificate.
I think Chrome can't establish secure connection with the site.
Has anyone experienced this issue?

This is due to a SSL in Chrome V44 where it incorrectly sends a HTTP_HTTPS header to be set, however the HTTPS header is still set correctly. It has been quite widely reported: http://www.zdnet.com/article/brand-new-chrome-44-release-added-a-bug/

I've recently had the chrome redirect loop on gmail.
Possibly significantly, I was doing some work involving changing my system time and it hasn't worked since. This guide helped to do that.
There is an available work-around, which is to use gmail in incognito mode, which does still work, although requires you to log in each time
In that case I would say this is an internal problem with you organization's setup. I would speak with your SysAdmin or IT staff. But just to be sure, use your phone carrier's internet, or a cafe nearby, basically something off your network to check if you can reproduce the error.
The issue with my MVC solution was, i had recently updated complete Nuget packages in my solution. After the update i forgot to update

section with new dll bindings which installed while update. So in my hosting server due to connectionstring issue, i was not overwriting the current .config file. So once i did the update in assemblyBinding section in .config file the issue gone.
There might be many reasons for the redirect loop. If you are confident your setup is done properly without any errors, then it might be the issue with your browser. You can try the following
Deleting cache and cookies
Correcting your system time (if it is not set to automatic)
Resetting the browser

You should be able to fix this problem, you can try to clear your cookies in your browser

chrome wont let me access localhost (it google searches instead)

How can I disable chrome using address bar for google search?
I cant access localhost at 0.0.0.0:6000, because chrome thinks it's a google search and not an url

This may be because a url was added to your search history. Google is doing you a favor because that's what you did once before somehow.
Try clearing your history to see if this is the case.
I went to "Clear Browsing Data" in Settings > Advanced and I was able to enter a localhost url again.
Be sure you end the url with "/" symbol.
Try:

0.0.0.0:6000

A search through the web has revealed several different possible causes to this problem as well as solutions.
Causes:
this is malware
this is a chrome/browser issue
this is a misconfiguration of the httpd service
Solutions:
scan for malware, though probably not the issue.
update the host file, so that localhost points to 127.0.0.1
confirm your httpd service is accepting http:// requests through port 80, 8080, or some other port.
make sure the URL has the correct port .. http://localhost:8080

does it happen on a specific directory?
localhost/Dir .. works

This suggests that the httpd service's configuration may need to be fixed. or that an .htaccess file is the cause. If these problems can be ruled out, then it's a browser issue.
remove the autocomplete entry from the browsers search/address bar
in most cases, type the url, using the arrow keys - highlight the offending entry, press [DELETE] or [SHIFT}+[DELETE].
does your browser support turning off autocomplete or searching from the address bar?

open the CLI and issue [ >wget localhost/dir ]. Observe what is returned on a working vs non working directory.
Follow up:
This issue is especially annoying when working with .htaccess files and browser redirect statements in PHP, ASP, nodeJS, and JSP which redirect the browser to a specific URL, but instead takes the user to a search page. If at all possible pre-pend http:// and post-pend a slash (/) after the URL in redirects.

And, YES ... it is annoying to have to add extra characters (as a work around) to get URLs to work right.
I might be a bit late to the party here but I just encountered this same problem on the current chrome (v. 96.0.4664.93) and could it would not resolve any local address using any of the other methods that I found on the web(http://192.168.178.1 or setting flags or insecure DNS).
What solved the problem, was a simple "/" at the beginning of the query string.
Whenever I enter
/192.168.178.1
into the Omnibox and hit enter it works for all services.
If some other people could verify this - I'd be really happy to get some feedback on this approach.
I have this problem often myself. First, go to just localhost, chrome should understand that, then, when you type in localhost/my/url/here, the context will allow chrome to understand to treat it as a url.

Page can not be displayed

I've got a client that sees the "Page can not be displayed" (nothing else) whenever they perform a certain action in their website. I don't get the error, ever. I've tried IE, FF, Chrome, and I do not see the error. The client sees the error on IE.
The error occurs when they press a form submit button that has only hidden fields.
I'm thinking this could be some kind of anti-malware / virus issue. has anyone ever dealt with this issue?
In IE, go to the "Anvanced" section of "Internet Options" and uncheck "Show friendly HTTP errors". This should give you the real error.
Is this an IE message? Ask them to switch off "short error messages" (or whatever they are called in the english version) somewhere deep in IEs options - This will make IE display the error message your server is sending instead of its own unhelpful message.
Also I've heard that IE might be forced to show server provided error messages if only the page is long/large enough, so you might want to add a longer " " section to error messages. This information is old enough that it might have effected older versions of IE - I usually get to the root of problems with eliminating the "short error messages"
Note: I'm neither running IE nor Windows, therefor can only operate on memory regarding the name of the config options of IE6...
Update: corrected usage in the suggestion to provide longer error messages... Perhaps somebody with access to IE can approve if longer error pages still force IE to display the original error page instead of the user friendly (sic) one.
It would be useful to you to figure out which error code is returned. Is it 404 - Resource not found or 503 - Forbidden Access? There are a few more, but in any case, it would help you figure out the cause of the problem.
If your client is running IE, ask him to disable friendly error messages in the advanced options.
Check their "hosts file". The location of this file is different for XP and vista
in XP I believe it's C:\windows\hosts or C:\windows\system32\hosts
Look for any suspicious domains.. Generally speaking, there should only be ~2 definitions (besides comments) in the files defining localhost and other local ip definitions. If there's anything else, make sure it's supposed to be there.
Otherwise, maybe the site's just having issues? Also, AFAIK, FF never displays "Page cannot be displayed", so are you sure this is the case in all browsers?
You can try using ieHTTPHeaders to see what is going on behind the scenes.
Do you have any events applied to your submit button? Are you doing a custom submit button that is a hyperlink with an href like "javascript:void(0)" and an event attached that submits the form?
Alought this is a 2008 thread,
but I think maybe someone still use windows xp in the virtualbox in 2018 like me.
The issue I met in 2018 is:
1. Ping to 8.8.8.8 can get correct responses.
2. HTTP sites is working fine, but HTTPS is not.
3. I cannot connect to any site with HTTPS so I cannot download Chrome or Firefox.
And my solution is to enable the TLS 1.0 for secure connections
Everything is fine.
