First post on here – this community has been a huge help to me so far. FWIW, I'm extremely new to all this.
I'm trying to fit my bg image on a div to the entire div, but for some reason background-size:cover isn't working. Check this out:
Example of problem
Here's my relevant code:
/* This area informs the navigation styling! */
a {
text-decoration: none;
}
.nav {
background-color: #000;
height: 50px;
}
.nav a:active {
color:#FFFF00;
}
.nav a:hover {
color: #FFFF00;
}
.nav a {
color: #fff;
font-size: 16px;
font-weight: bold;
padding: 14px 10px;
text-transform: uppercase;
line-height: 25px;
text-decoration:none;
}
.nav li {
display: inline;
}

Thanks for any and all help on solving this.
You would want to make the height and width css-properties of #firstsquare set to 100% so that it fills the whole parrent-div.
#firstsquare {
background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/Id6FFuY.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-size: cover;
height: 100%;
width: 100%;
}
background-repeat: no-repeat isn't necessary int his case.

I have a question about background-image in CSS. I want to design a box of which all parts are displayed as background image except for 1 link and button. I need 3 of such box in one line. I've attached an example picture. I can't figure out the problem and need guidance
body {
background: #F2F2F2;
padding: 0px;
}
#price {
text-align: center;
align-items: center;
background-image: url(https://carevisa.at/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/2.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: center;
}
#price::after{
content: "";
display: table;
clear: both;
}
.plan {
display: flex;
margin: 10px 2%;
font-family: 'Lato', Arial, sans-serif;
width: 477px;
height: 832px;
}
.btn {
position: absolute;
padding: 1em;
padding-bottom: 2em;
text-align: center;
}
.btn a {
background: red;
padding: 10px 30px;
color: #fff;
text-transform: uppercase;
font-weight: 700;
text-decoration: none;
border-radius: 6px;
}
.IMGbox{
width: 477px;
height: 832px;

.Readmore{

text-align: center;

}
<div id="price">

<div class="plan">

<div class="btn">

</div>
</div>
try this instead,
Use absolute positioning to plan class. That is,
.plan {
position:absolute;
bottom:0;
left:0;
right:0;
}
And give width and height to price id instead of plan class.
#price {
position:relative;
width: 477px;
height: 832px;
display: inline-block;
}

There just seems to be problem with your closing tags incorrectly nested. There needs to another closing div before the closing header tag. The snippet shows the hero in a fixed position:

margin-top: 60px;

Use position:inherit
You are using fixed and I think that is causing your issue.
Inherit won’t move, absolute stacks, fixed scrolls with page, static is default.
I'm trying to position a circular instagram icon so it is always centered towards the bottom of a landing page. All my efforts so far such as using position:fixed; have resulted in the icon not remaining underneath the rest of my content when the screen size changes.
My html is like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>RBM Makeup</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)
Modified two places of your code.
1. .foot
left: 50% plus margin-left: - { width } / 2 can make footer align center no matter how the window changes.
```
.footer {
position: fixed;
bottom: 0;
width: 95px; // here
height: 100px;
left: 50%; // here
margin-left: calc(-95px / 2); // here
}
```
2. .fa
In your code, the Instagram icon is not aligning center inside the black circle, so I make some changes for it.
As the Instagram icon is square, you should not set the width 40px when it's font-size is 55px.
```
.fa {
padding: 20px;
font-size: 55px;
width: 55px; /* here */
text-align: center;
text-decoration: none;
border-radius: 50%;
align-content: center;
}
```

</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="footer">
<div class="instagram">
</div>
</div>
</section>
set the parent as
.intro {
width:100%;
height:100vh;
position:relative;
}
and the icon element as
.footer {
position:absolute;
bottom:0;
left:50%;
width:40px;
margin-left:-20px;
}
as an alternative:
.footer {
position:absolute;
bottom:0;
left:0;
width:100%;
text-align:center;
}
.footer > div {
display:inline-block;
}
this will do better as you can add other elements if you end up wanting to add other links
So my website shows the images in google chrome but not in firefox! Anyone who can help? It only shows the background image in firefox! I've tried many things but nothing works for me. Anyone who can help :D

Try changing #head on your CSS:
#head {
background-image: url(../billeder/head.png);
background-color: rgb(238, 242, 254);
background-position: center;
background-size: contain;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
height: 15vh; /* 15% of the screen's height */
}
The way you set it, it doesn't have a defined height, and different browsers interpret that in different ways.
Also, a thing to note: on small width screens, that header image looks quite small. Try cutting a bit of that whitespace on the .png to give it some space!
And lastly, this is one solution to it. If you're ever unsatisfied, there surely are other ways to accomplish what you're looking for!
I tried researching this question on this site, but everything wasn't related to my particular site. Pretty much I have a background image on my home page, and the background is "fixed" and "covered". I am not sure if that's the reason why it is not working. I want the "View Works" button in the center of the computer. Please help!

In order to see the error visually, you may need to go in full screen mode (http://codepen.io/kasiariele/full/MaLdWv/) or make the screen smaller so you can see it scroll.
Thank you.
Don't use margin to "center" your elements as you did.
You can add this code and the button will be centered both horizontally and vertically without having to adjust your old code:
.butt {
margin: 0; /* reset your old margin */
left: 50%;
top: 50%;
-webkit-transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
}
Check browser support for transforms and any extra prefixes needed (-ms for ie9).
