how to put <span> and <button> on the same line - html

here is what it looks like:
and my html:
<div>
<div class="dropdown col-md-6">
<span class="input-group-addon" id="basic-addon1" style="width:150px;">warehouse</span>
<button class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle "type="button" id="dropdownMenu1" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="true" style="display:inline;">
select warehouse
<span class="caret"></span>
</button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu" aria-labelledby="dropdownMenu1">
<li>Action</li>
<li>Another action</li>
<li>Something else here</li>
<li>Separated link</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
I want to put the warehouse and select warehouse on the same line,how to do it?

You need to make the surrounding div an input group (add the "input-group" class):
<div class="dropdown col-md-6 input-group">
Instead of:
<div class="dropdown col-md-6">
You might want to look at the Input Group / Input Group Add-On documentation:
http://v4-alpha.getbootstrap.com/components/input-group/

You need to also specify display:inline for the span to overwrite the display: table-cell; of the .input-group-addon class on it.
See this bootply fiddle

(bad practice alert)
To make exactly what you ask, you can use this style
<span class="input-group-addon" id="basic-addon1" style="display:inline-block; width:auto;float:left;height:35px;line-height:21px;">warehouse</span>

Can also be like this.
<div class="form-group form-inline">
<span class="col-md-2 control-label">Metadata</span>
<button class="btn btn-primary dropdown-toggle" type="button" data-toggle="dropdown">Dropdown Example</button>
</div>

Bootstrap 4 vertical align a list-group with some text and dropdown

I am quite new to Bootstrap 4. I am struggling to vertically align some elements on a list-group. It consists on some text on the left side and a dropdown on the right.
<div class="dashboard-blocks">
<ul class="list-group ">
<li class="dashboard-block list-group-item">
<span class="align-middle">Write Article/s</span>
<span class="btn-group float-right">
<button
type="button"
class="btn btn-secondary dropdown-toggle"
data-toggle="dropdown"
aria-haspopup="true"
aria-expanded="false"
>
ACTION
</button>
<span class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-right">
<button class="dropdown-item" type="button">Action</button>
<button class="dropdown-item" type="button">
Another action
</button>
<button class="dropdown-item" type="button">
Something else here
</button>
</span>
</span>
</li>
On the CSS side I am just applying some styling to the font/colors/borders plus:
.dashboard-block {
...
line-height: normal;
letter-spacing: normal;
...
padding: 25px;
margin-top: 10px;
margin-bottom: 10px;
}
As you can see here "Write Article" is not vertically aligned:
Use flex utility. Due to .float-right it is not allowing to vertically center the span element.
<div class="dashboard-blocks">
<ul class="list-group ">
<li class="dashboard-block list-group-item d-flex justify-content-between align-items-center">
<span class="align-middle">Write Article/s</span>
<span class="btn-group">
<button
type="button"
class="btn btn-secondary dropdown-toggle"
data-toggle="dropdown"
aria-haspopup="true"
aria-expanded="false"
>
ACTION
</button>
</span>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
Things to do:
Add classes to <li> : .d-flex, .justify-content-between,
.align-items-center
Remove .align-middle and .float-right classes from span(not required).
Sample JS Fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/srijan1709/apbmgde2/13/
Bootstrap 4 Flex Utility: https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/utilities/flex/
You juste need to add this CSS style to your SPAN
vertical-align:middle;
good luck!

Bootstrap's input width 100% within form-inline

I am trying to make a bootstrap inline form like dropdown-input-button. I was able to do this, but how can I make 100% width of input tag? Code snippet below.
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<div class="form-inline">
<div class="btn-group">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
Action <span class="caret"></span>
</button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li>Action
</li>
<li>Another action
</li>
<li>Something else here
</li>
<li role="separator" class="divider"></li>
<li>Separated link
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<input type="text" class="form-control " placeholder="Search">
</div>
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default">Search</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/xt4zk62v/
You need to create a class and apply it to the parent div that adds a width to it and update the width on the input to 100%;
#media (min-width: 768px){
.form-inline .form-control {
display: inline-block;
width: 100%;
vertical-align: middle;
}
}

How to move Bootstrap pagination in-line with buttons

See the image above - I have Bootstrap dropdowns on the left, and buttons on the right. They're nicely aligned, but I'd like to move the pagination up so it's in between them to make better use of the space. Now currently the pagination code is further down, but if I move it between the dropdowns and buttons, it causes what you see in the second image. How can I have everything aligned?
Bootiply here: http://www.bootply.com/5Ufnpj317Z
EDIT:
please find attached images and do changes as per red area.
I've rearranged a fair bit of your code, summarised as follows:
introduced bootstrap container and rows
removed panel-body class
removed pull-right class from the buttons on the right
added test.css for some custom adjustments
fixed indenting
It looks ok an a wide screen, but elements will stack on top of each other on smaller screens.
/*test.css*/
#dropdownMenu1-div{
display:inline;
}
#dropdownMenu2-div{
display:inline;
}
.pagination{
margin:0;

Bootstrap adjust dropdown-menu width

I am using a dropdown-menu to show the candidate options I can choose. And I also want an input to filter the options, so when I enter something, the dropdown-menu should also be shown. So I want to adjust the width of the dropdown-menu to be equal to the input. And how can I show it when the I enter something in the input?
The html I current use is:
<div class="input-group">
<input type="text" class="form-control" aria-label="...">
<div class="input-group-btn">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">
<span class="caret"></span>
</button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-right">
<li>Action</li>
<li>Another action</li>
<li>Something else here</li>
<li role="separator" class="divider"></li>
<li>Separated link</li>
</ul>
</div><!-- /btn-group -->
Actually you are searching for some kind of suggestion search box with given selectable choices if I understood correctly.
See this thread:twitter bootstrap autocomplete dropdown / combobox with Knockoutjs
Solution suggestions: selectize.js or Select2
The aspect of automatically adjusting the dropdown's width to be equal to the input's width is hard to achieve because it would cut off some of your given choices (example: Input is only one character - Dropdown would only show first character of every choice). This can't be what you want to achieve.
possible solution:
$('.dropdown-menu').width($('.input-group').width());
.input-group{
width:33%;
}

<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<div class="input-group">
<input type="text" class="form-control" aria-label="...">
<div class="input-group-btn">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false"><span class="caret"></span></button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-right">
<li>Action</li>
<li>Another action</li>
<li>Something else here</li>
<li role="separator" class="divider"></li>
<li>Separated link</li>
</ul>

How do I create a button group with a select, button, button-dropdown and addon with bootstrap

I am trying to create a a group of controls with bootstrap however it does not seem to be rendering properly, I have an example here: https://jsfiddle.net/brightertools/jxafnoyx/
Code:
<form id="form" name="form" action="" method="post">
<div class="container">
<div class="form-group">
<label class="control-label" for="SelectOption">Select an Option</label>
<div class="input-group">
<select id="SelectOption" name="SelectOption" class="form-control">
<option value="">(select your option)</option>
</select>
<div class="input-group-btn ">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default glyphicon glyphicon-plus" style="margin-top:-1px;" id="AddButton"></button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle glyphicon glyphicon-cog" style="margin-top:-1px;" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false" id="GroupDropdown"></button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li><a id="EditLink">Edit</a>
</li>
<li><a id="DeleteLink">Delete</a>
</li>
</ul> <span class="input-group-addon"><span class="validation-icon glyphicon glyphicon-asterisk"></span></span>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</form>
One can see that the addon is wrapping, I cannot seem to fix this issue.
Current rendering within jsfiddle:
As Onkar Deshpande mentioned correctly in his comment
"multiple form-controls in a single input group are not supported".
Input groups
Place one add-on or button on either side of an input. You may also place one on both sides of an input.
We do not support multiple add-ons on a single side.
We do not support multiple form-controls in a single input group.
But there is a little work around you could use to make this work.
Just make sure to move your input-group-addon out of the input-group-btn div.
To make this look correct you would have to also remove the border-radius on the .btn class.
.btn {
border-radius: 0 !important;
}

<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.5/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<form id="form" name="form" action="" method="post">
<div class="container">
<div class="form-group">
<label class="control-label" for="SelectOption">Select an Option</label>
<div class="input-group">
<select id="SelectOption" name="SelectOption" class="form-control">
<option value="">(select your option)</option>
</select>
<div class="input-group-btn ">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default glyphicon glyphicon-plus" style="margin-top:-1px;" id="AdvertiserEditButton"></button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle glyphicon glyphicon-cog" style="margin-top:-1px;" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false" id="AdvertiserDropdown"></button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li><a id="AdvertiserEditLink">Edit</a>
</li>
<li><a id="AdvertiserDeleteLink">Delete</a>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<span class="input-group-addon"><span class="validation-icon glyphicon glyphicon-asterisk"></span></span>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</form>
You can try like this: Demo
<div class="input-group">
<select id="SelectOption" name="SelectOption" class="form-control">
<option value="">(select your option)</option>
</select>
<div class="input-group-btn">

<li>Another action</li>
<li>Something else here</li>
<li role="separator" class="divider"></li>
<li>Separated link</li>
