I have a strange error appearing whenever I try to access my Piwik analytics.
It has been working fine for months and I haven't upgraded anything. The only change was that my account was 'on hold' for a few weeks due a non-payment mix-up. During this time my whole domain was unavailable.
I am on a shared hosting account with JustHost. I have both Joomla 3.8 and Piwik installed there under the one domain, Joomla continues to work no problem.
When is visit MyDomain.com/analytics I see the following error message;
Wondering if anybody would know what this means, or why it's happening. Is there something I should ask my host if they have changed? Surely it would also effect my Joomla installation too though (which it isn't)?
I have tried their support forums however it very quiet over there. It has been suggested to look in the following file piwik/config/global.ini.php and check that the database driver is defined, which it is. My config file contains the following;
[database]
host =
username =
password =
dbname =
tables_prefix =
port = 3306
adapter = PDO\MYSQL
type = InnoDB
schema = Mysql
I have created a phpinfo() page located at MyDomain.com/analytics/phpinfo.php I can see all the information, if anybody needs me to clarify anything or settings.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.
There was no .htaccess file in my MyDomain.com/analytics directory. As soon as I added one it worked!

I’m following this Lynda.com tutorial (WordPress – Building Themes from Scratch Using Underscores (2017)) and haven’t gotten very far. I’ve installed a blank WordPress install on localhost using WAMP Server and I downloaded and installed the underscores theme. But for some reason when I am trying to launch the website I am getting this error:
Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the lynda_under17_040518 database.
Are you sure it exists?
Does the user root have permission to use the lynda_under17_040518 database?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_lynda_under17_040518. Could that be the problem?
If you don’t know how to set up a database you should contact your host. If all else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums.
Here is what i know
The database exists and I can run SQL commands on it in phpMyAdmin.
My user is root
Host is localhost
Database is lynda_under17_040518
root has all privileges to database (as verified in phpMyAdmin)
Other local websites on the same WAMPServer work just fine
This Stack Overflow post says to put define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true ); in wp-config.php which I’ve done. It also says:
“the debug.log file will be in wp-content.”
I don't see any debug log even though I’ve restarted all services in WAMP and refreshed the browser.

I reviewed the info on these pages, but they didn't really help for my situation.

Where is my debug log and how can i get my local website running?
Even though SQL and its ilk will allow database names that are very long, a lot of applications (such as cPanel) will only recognize database names that are 16 characters or less. I suspect that your database name (lynda_under17_040518) is simply too long for WAMP and/or WordPress to recognize and will work correctly if the database name is shortened.
In my case, I was using an alternate port (something other than 3306), so I had to follow these instructions:
https://codex.wordpress.org/sk:Editing_wp-config.php#MySQL_Alternate_Port
I have installed phpMyAdmin on linux server, worked fine for a couple of weeks, but now suddenly I cannot login to phpMyAdmin anymore. I can connect from my website, but cannot login manually on the server.
I have googled and searched on this forum but alle the suggestions include editing the file /var/lib/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php
Strange thing is, this file is empty. Nothing in it. So I guess, that could be my problem, but then why is it now empty and not before? And is there a default I can restore or is this something generated upon installation?
The real question I am asking myself now is, am I hacked? If not, why would this file be empty?
EDIT: directly trying to connect via SSH gives an error too: Can`t connect to local mysql server throught socket '/var/run..'
EDIT2: I did a search for files named config.inc.php and found one in /etc/phpmyadmin, this one has a lot of settings so I guess I was looking into the wrong file.. Everything from Authentication Type is not active
Any help is appreciated!
I see the others who answered this, but the answer says to log in as root and create a new user and database. I can't even get that far. I just installed a brand new XAMPP instance, start it and when I go to localhost/phpmyadmin, I get the error message in the subject line.
I also have:
2002 No such file or directory
The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured)
I checked that as well and I see the socket info in the config is left blank and the comment above it says that it will just use the mysql defaults.
When I go to the status page for XAMPP, it says that the MySQL database is activated. I just can't connect to phpmyadmin.
I literally did nothing else from install to startup to trying to get to phpmyadmin.
I solved this same problem by empting cookies/cache of firefox.
We recently had to move one of our client's websites to a new server (unix to unix). They have a Joomla site. I followed Joomla's documentation on transferring the whole site, and did so with no problems. I downloaded all the files via FTP, I exported the database in phpMyAdmin. I uploaded all the files to the new server via FTP, and imported the database sql file into the new database with phpMyAdmin.
When I access the site, all the pages are there, all content is working exactly as it used to. The site was successfully moved.
However, now when logging in as admin to add new pages or edit current ones, it will not let us log in and says that the user name and password do not match. It's the exact same log in credentials used on the previous server and they worked there.
Any help in understanding what's going wrong? If you need me give more info, please ask and I'll provide it.
Problem with logging in could be caused by few things.
Bad admin password, so change it in #_users -> http://stepolabs.com/upload/pass.png
Problems with CHMOD, put administrator folders -r to 755
Problem with cookies, so delete it with cache in browser and on server.
If nothing above helps, read this article: http://kb.siteground.com/i_cant_log_into_the_joomla_backend_as_administrator/
Got to a md5 converter website, choose a new password, convert it to md5.
Log in to phpMyAdmin or whatever tool are you using to manipulate the database.
Open the _users table, search for your user.
Edit your user, change the password field to your new md5 encoded password and save
I have tried a lot of solution (joomla 2.5) and none of them worked... I've been able to login on the backend when I changed in configuration.php
public $session_handler = 'database';
to
public $session_handler = 'none';
I also removed the domain name in the variable public $cookie_domain = '';
If ever this help anyone else :)
I have upgraded my server machine to use MySQL Connector 6.3.4 and in our website we also added Membership role provider.
When I run the website I am getting this error.
Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: Unable to initialize provider. Missing or incorrect schema.
My sql server is version 5.0.90 community-net.
Is there any setting which have to be changes on server side while upgrading connector
This is tag in my web.config file.
Since when I run the website on local machine it will run successfully, but on server I am not able to run it and getting above error.
There is no mistake in connection string
What are server side setting which we to do while upgrading the connector....
thanks
I myself running into the same problem. I m using Mysql connector 6.3.0.0
So far I came across following suggestions when seaching on net:
1) Add "MySql.Data.dll" & "MySql.Web.dll" into your application "bin" folder.
2) Add reference to above to dlls in your application .
3) Add autogenerateschema="true" in your web.config file for required sections.
4) Check your Mysql connector version - make sure that the one that is in your bin folder is mentioned in your web.config file.
5) Check your connection string - make sure it is correct and connected successfully.
6) Check mysql membership related table structure.
7) Check schema version in "my_aspnet_schemaversion" table (e.g since you have upgraded to newer version I insist you should check this).
8) If the problem is on remote machine (e.g Production Server) you may wan to check this : http://www.reggieburnett.com/referencing-connectornet-on-a-remote-machine
I m sure you may gone through this list but I would like you to check schema version in "my_aspnet_schemaversion" table (e.g compare "version" field value of your local and remote table) since your upgrading to newer version.
BTW: I have checked this list for my problem but it did not help. I hope it may be of some help to you.
Edit:
Hi,
We are able to fix this error by following:
1) Deleted the tables for memberships in the db and had the mysql membership provider regenerate them
2) than set the Aministration.config file to trust the Mysql Membership Provider (e.g related to IIS admin)
Regards,
Gaurav
I had this same problem after checking all the things in Gaurav's post. It ended up being that the user account I was using in my connection string did not have necessary permissions to alter the db schema (I had autogenerateschema set to true). Once I changed my connection string to a user with more privileges (I used the 'root' user) then it updated the schema, and I changed the connection string back to the original user.
Always make sure that the Datasource is set to the real ip address and not localhost and check the passwords and usernames too. I am working with these clients and their ip address keeps changing and every time they do that, I get the same error
I know this is an old thread but maybe this will help someone. I was having this issue and realized that I was editing the wrong machine.config
At first I was editing on under C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64....
Once I found the one for my .NET version under C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework.... and edited the correct spots, it worked fine following the instructions on MySQL's site.
