Windows phone app player not working when submitted to the store - windows-phone-8.1

I have windows universal 8.1 app with two players. When I deploy locally using app deployment application or through visual studio it is working fine but when I submit app to the store, one player fails to work.
I am using microsoft player framework with this hls plugin https://phonesm.codeplex.com/
The player seems to load since I know player media opened event has triggered but player control is missing and there is no video or audio.
When try to play video content nothing happens but when I try to play audio only content I get audio but there is still no visible player control (player visibility is set to visible ofc).
The question is, how is it possible that the same package acts different whether deployed locally or acquired from store?

Windows phone How can I detect an incoming call

I have a app that runs a AudioPlaybackAgent and I want that everytime the phone receive a call, the audio get paused, but i didn't found anything about that.
If you are using Background Audio Manager, Phone will automatically Pause the playback and once call is disconnected it will automatically start playing.

Auto-launching DailyMotion Windows Phone from another App

I have read about Auto-launching apps from another app on Windows Phone. I have a app that shows some videos, these videos are mainly from DailyMotion. Now my Question is if there is any possibility to check, if DailyMotion App is installed on my Phone, than open this video in this DailyMotion app instead of browser.
You can use custom URL to launch the dailymotion app. For example, using the line of code
string dailyUrl = "dailymotion://myurl";
Windows.System.Launcher.LaunchUriAsync(new Uri(dailyUrl));
It will automatically open the dailymotion app if it is installed on the phone, but otherwise it will probably perform nothing. So with the previous answer explaining how you might check if the app is installed, and this piece of code, you might be able to perform what you need :)
You cannot get the list of applications that are installed on the Windows Phone that are published by someone other than the publisher of the calling application.
There is a way, however, to get the list of applications that are installed on the device and are originating from the publisher of the caller ape.
Have a look over here
IEnumerable<Package> apps = Windows.Phone.Management.Deployment.InstallationManager.FindPackagesForCurrentPublisher();
apps.First().Launch(string.Empty);

BackgroundAudioAgent with a dynamic playlist

I am developing an app that has the capability of playing audio tracks streamed from a server. This app needs to be able to playback the audio even when the screen is locked or if the app is put in background.
=====
For background audio playback in windows phone, the Background Audio Agent is required.
The sample provided by Microsoft shows the basics: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsphone/develop/hh202978(v=vs.105).aspx
In the sample, the background audio agent has a list of static tracks and when the user taps the skip/prev in the main project, it simply forwards it to the singleton BackgroundAudioPlayer object which in turn uses the event handler in BackgroundAudioAgent project to load the next/prev song.
BUT, what I would think a common usecase is that the main project will have the details of the play list (like a list retrieved from server) and we just need the backgroundaudio agent to forward that request to the main project.
My question is
Is there ANY way to forward the user action from audio agent to the main project so the main project can determine which track to play?
P.S: I cannot use MediaElement (which seemed to work fine in Window Store App and provides background support) because in Windows Phone SDK it has no background support.
EDIT: When the screen is locked, The application itself can be terminated even if the background agent is running, so I guess there no mechanism to forward the request to the app. This would mean, The background agent has to be self sufficient... Which would be a poor design to have to jump through hoops for a seemingly common behavior (Playing audio stored in remote server that requires authentication) .
At this point, I am considering writing all URL specific information to a file and have the background audio agent read that saved file and authenticate with server and create audio tracks. But the handshake to show the current audio information when the application resumes will be complex to say the least.
I hope I am wrong with this and there is actually a easier way than this. Would love to see how others have handled this.

Programmatically communicate with Windows 8 Music Player

I would like to know if it is possible to programmatically communicate with the default Windows 8 Music Player (Windows store app).
For example, when is it start/finish playing a new song, what is the name of the song etc.
I vaguely have an impression that WinRT app are based on COM/DCOM, so I suspect there maybe a way to expose that to be consume by external program. Is my assumption correct?
Windows store apps are "sandboxed" apps. You can't communicate with other WinRT apps. So you can't access what's being played in Music app of Windows 8 app.
The only way a windows app can communicate with it's host environment is through what is called Activation Protocol which basically opens another app. So metro media players can't provide info about what they are doing to other apps.
Also a metro app can ask a file to be opened by default handler of host system.
So the answer is no. There can't be a way for the media player to inform other apps about it's status.
Windows metro Apps are more similar to a Silverlight app than a COM/DCOM component.

Does StageWebView work on Desktop devices?

I need to create an Windows application that opens up a website in StageWebView. When I test it out in Flash IDE - it opens up correctly. When I publish it to *.exe file, all I see is a blank flash file.
Can someone tell me if StageWebView supports Desktop devices and if yes, how to publish it correctly?
StageWebView works on desktop so long as you're publishing as AIR. If you're just using the export to EXE feature it won't work as you're basically just packaging the normal web Flash Player with your SWF file and don't have access to the extended API's that AIR does.
So, just make sure to change your Publish Settings to publish as an AIR app and you should be good.
