i just finish a web application with JSF 2.2, Hibernate 4.3, Primefaces 5.0, Tomcat 7.0.65 and MySQL 5.7.
i want to know if there any free host to try the result (i try it on localhost, works good) but i want to try it in web.
i try it in openshift but doesn't work (don't know exactly the issue).
and i tested on jelastic but not working, i found an error in tomcat log (... not support selectOneMenuView)
any idea, suggestion ?
maybe with a plan hosting for only one month (just for testing) and not expensive, it can be helpful/option
To answer your original question: Jelastic is probably the best "out of box" option. CloudBees has a Java EE 7 offering as well. If you want a more DIY solution, setup a TomEE, WildFly, or Payara server on DigitalOcean.
If you would like help solving the problem, post information about your localhost environment, the actual piece of code that isn't working, and the stack trace and we'll be able to pinpoint what's not working. Usually "not found" and "not supported" errors indicate something wrong with you Maven build.

I'm working on an app with a team. They are able to log in fine when running it on their local servers, however when I try to do so I get 'Invalide username / password' and no network activity or console errors in dev tools.
I have no idea why this could be, we're working on the exact same code - clearly it's something on my machine.
Has anyone come across anything like this before?
(Have tried other browsers and still nothing).
Maybe you need to check your server instalation on your machine.
For example, if you are using XAMPP to manage your Apache maybe there is some configuration that was set in the wrong way.
My advice is, save your code and re-install your server, pay attention to all configuration details and see if the problem is solved.
Chrome seems to have released an update over the past week. This has caused at least 50 of our internal applications to throw the exception shown below. The solutions I have researched over the Internet, talk about updating the application server with a stronger cipher. However, our applications are spread out over IIS, tomcat, jboss, weblogic and websphere. Its not practical to expect all of these application servers to be updated. Is there no way to get Chrome to allow an "exception" for these sites ? Since these sites are all internal, the security is not really a concern.
Apparently, Firefox throws the same exception but there is a documented fix for that (by changing some settings in Firefox). Is anyone aware of a similar fix in Chrome.
Error
Server has a weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman public key
ERR_SSL_WEAK_SERVER_EPHEMERAL_DH_KEY
I found a temporary workaround that should disable the security check in Chrome that is causing that error. It goes without saying that you do NOT want to use this while browsing the open web.
Try adding the following command argument to Chrome when you start it up:
--cipher-suite-blacklist=0x0088,0x0087,0x0039,0x0038,0x0044,0x0045,0x0066,0x0032,0x0033,0x0016,0x0013
I found this solution at this google forum post. Hopefully it will help!
While Maximillian's workaround might work for you at the moment, there is no supported way to add an exception.
The only safe solution is to upgrade the servers, and a less fragile workaround might be to put better proxies right in front of some of the servers.
This problem I found because of the JDK version running on App Server.
If your weblogic/apache server running on java JRockit version "1.6.0_33" & "1.6.0_45" or below you will face this issue.
A solution is to upgrade java to higher version like "1.6.0_101" and higher and restart app server.
I've solved this problem without upgrading jrockit but configuring the ssl section like this
<ssl>
<enabled>true</enabled>
<hostname-verifier xsi:nil="true"></hostname-verifier>
<hostname-verification-ignored>false</hostname-verification-ignored>
<export-key-lifespan>500</export-key-lifespan>
<client-certificate-enforced>false</client-certificate-enforced>
<two-way-ssl-enabled>false</two-way-ssl-enabled>
<ssl-rejection-logging-enabled>true</ssl-rejection-logging-enabled>
<inbound-certificate-validation>BuiltinSSLValidationOnly</inbound-certificate-validation>
<outbound-certificate-validation>BuiltinSSLValidationOnly</outbound-certificate-validation>
<allow-unencrypted-null-cipher>false</allow-unencrypted-null-cipher>
<use-server-certs>false</use-server-certs>
<jsse-enabled>true</jsse-enabled>
</ssl>
Can't tell you exactly whats makes the difference but it solved many different problems on SSL with chrome
Soo, I've decided to toy around a bit with GAE. Most of my previous experience with developing web-applications is with ASP.Net, so this java / eclipse-world is kinda unfamiliar to me.
I read around, and found out that I can configure my project to use a Google Cloud SQL instance when it's deployed at Google, while using a local MySQL database while running locally on my development server.
The problem I ran in to now is that I can simply not press "Ok" in the eclipse dialog for configuring my local MySQL database? Well - I can, but with no result. No error message, no window close, no nothing.
I'm not really sure what I am doing wrong, but was hoping some wiz in here who has more experience than me with GAE have had a similar problem and a solution?
I've attached a picture of my local MySQL configuration:

I have an application running on Apache 2.2, tomcat 6 and it uses struts framework, hibernate framework. We use Mysql at back end. We also interact with third party servers to place some requests that are requested by the user. Due to confidentiality constrains I can not tell you exactly what we do but I can assure you that we have not customized any thing and we use the most general builds availaible for Apache, tomcat etc. We use Linux platform. Lots of visitors visit our site, where they first pay using payment gateways, and then buy a product. To buy the product we again have to hit a third party site. Its a simple e-commerce kind of setup. The problem is that some times the server hangs. As in it does not responds and when we click on a link that (I know) is served by the tomcat container, it does not get loaded. Here is what i need help for:
Since my hosting is on a headless linux platform, please suggest me a good debugging tool.
We have logging in place and we print stack trace of almost all exception(if they happen), we always monitor catalina.out, but when the server hangs, we dont see any activity on catalina.out. may be this can give some one a clue.
We have show_sql disabled for hibernate, we tried to enable it but still that was not sufficient to figure out if the application stucks on a query. We also have slow_sql log enabled but that does not show any significant queries. How can we check if my application is stuck on a query?
If my application is not stuck on a query, how can i know where it is stuck?
How can I get java stack dump?
What are possible ways to resolve such a problem.
ANy suggestions are welcome. I thank you all in advance for reading my question and for the time you will devote writing an answer.
Facing your situation I would do a thread dump when the servlet container "hangs". A thread dump provides you a list of the stack traces for all Java threads in a given JVM.
Doing a thread dump is pretty easy:
Find the Tomcat's process ID, e.g. ps -ef | grep java
Send a SIGQUIT to the process, e.g. kill -3 tomcatProcessId
You will find the thread dump's content in TOMCAT_HOME/logs/catalina.out.
I want to know if it's possible and I'm looking for tutorials to set it up.
APE website says that knowledge of JavaScript programming is sufficent to follow the tutorial however I haven't been able to puzzle even the first 2 lines of the tutorial.
I'm using Ubuntu. After downloading APE I have no idea what to do. I already set up SSH to access the server.
What should be my following steps or where can I find an easier to tutorial to use comet be it through APE or something else?
Assuming your GoDaddy server is running some flavor of Linux, I don't see any reason it would not be possible. I was just looking over the documentation and I am not clear on what part you are having trouble with. What Linux distribution are you using? Do you have SSH access?
If you have ssh access and a root account you should be able to just follow the instructions to get APE running on the default port.
If you are running a Debian dist (Ubuntu and others) it looks like you should download the source from Git and compile it. There are instructions for the compilation there. You can learn about what you need to do wth Git by search for "clone git".
If you can be more specific about what you are having trouble with, we can probably be more helpful. But ultimately you should be able to install this on any dedicated server without issue.
