I create a new package in SSIS and when I try to run the package, SSIS returns the following error (displayed in a Visual Studio Error Dialog):
"Cannot communicate with the debug host process. The IDtsHost interface is not registered. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration"
Environment: VS 2019 with newest SSIS Extension Installed. The package appears to be created correctly and the build succeeds.
The error happens even if the package is trivial "hello world" type of package.
I found no solution to this after a fairly extensive search.
Thanks to EmersioN (https://stackoverflow.com/users/707267/emersion) for the solution. The problem in this case was the selected targeted version of SQL Server. My project was configured to target "SQL Server 2017", but was connected to a server running SQL Server 2012.
If you're seeing this error, this may be the reason.
Go to the properties page of the Integration Services project that contains the affected package. In the Property Pages dialog, navigate to Configuration Properties > General. Under the property group, Deployment Target Version, in the TargetServerVersion property drop-down, select the SQL Server version that matches the one you're connected to.
I just came across this as well in VS2019 SSDT. In my case it was a working SSIS package that after going to sleep for the night, the machine woke up and wouldn't execute the same scripts. These were my steps. Hope they help you or someone else who stumbles across this.

My context
Working through an SSIS tutorial using SQL Server 2019 Developer (v15.0.2080.9) and VS2019 Community (v16.11.9) to create packages using SSDT (SSIS Projects v3.15).
Packages in VS have executed without issue in the past. I then upgraded my machine from Windows 10 Pro to 11. Now, when running the same - possibly any - package I get the following error:

What was tried
I tried/checked all 3 answers posted here.
Error persists.
This VS Dev Community's post recommended upgrading the VS extension, SSIS Projects. Since I had the most recent version installed an upgrade was not applicable, so I chose the repair option from the installer.
Error persists.
I then ran a repair on the VS2019 install. This, in turn, required another repair on SSIS Projects. (I still had both installers on my machine which made this easy.)
Error persists.
This MSDN post recommended re-registering DtsDebugHost.exe, failing that, re-installing SQL Server.
I ran the DtsDebugHost.exe /regserver command.
Error persists.
My Solution
I then chose to repair my SQL Server installation instead of re-installing. This was accomplished via the SQL Server Installation Center > Maintenance > Repair option. In my case, I chose the default instance, MSSQLSERVER.
VS now runs without the error and successfully executes the package.
I couldn't say whether my solution was solely based on the repaired SQL Server instance or a combination of other things tried and my last action. So I offer the path I took in the case of the latter.
Aside: The other choices during the SQL Server repair on my system were (1) another server instance, SQLSERVER2019, and (2) "shared components". Selecting either of those may have resolved the issue as well, but I couldn't confirm that.
In Project Property, turn off Azure-Enabled as seen in the image below. Your package will execute afterwards.
I encountered this error after upgrading to Windows 11.
I referred to the post by #steveb and went straight to his solution of repairing SQL Server (SQL Server Installation Center > Maintenance > Repair), without doing any of the other steps he tried.
And that solution worked.
I'm posting this because #steveb said he was unsure if any of his previous steps had affected the ultimate solution, and in my experience they were not necessarily needed.
I've two 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2 machines. On one of the machines BizTalk Server 2010 Standard Edition is installed & on the other SQL Server 2008 R2 is installed.
When I use the 'BizTalk Server Configuration' on the BizTalk machine to create the necessary databases on the SQL Server machine, just the 'SSODB' gets created & then the configuration fails due to below errors
Failed to create the SQL database 'SSODB' on SQL Server 'SQLServerName' (with SSO Administrator account 'SSO Administrators').
(0xC0002A21) An error occurred while attempting to access the SSO database.
Could not find the account name 'SSO Administrators' on computer 'SQLServerName'. Configuration can proceed, but it might fail.
(0x800706BA) The RPC server is unavailable.
A few sites suggested to register both the 32-bit & 64-bit SSOSQL.dll using the regasm command to resolve this issue & I did the same. But, the issue still persists.
What is a solution for this?
Create "Domain user accounts/user groups" before configuring and use those instead of the local user accounts/user groups. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa577661(v=BTS.70).aspx)
Add the domain user account as sys-admin on the Sql server.
Most likely the above 2 steps will help you resolve this issue.
I am creating my first SSIS package using Business Intelligence in Visual Studio 2012. I am adding the contents of an Excel sheet to an local VS database. In the Destination Assistant I am asked Destination Type = SQL Server, New: Provider - I see no .NET Framework option. The result seems to be that I am then unable to select my server and therefore databases.
Am I just missing the point?
I would recommend that you investigate the destination server and verify that you have the providers installed on that system. Typically these are installed at the time that SQL server is installed, but is possible via custom installation to specify the providers that are installed. It may be necessary for you to install any providers needed. A second option would be to point to a database that you know that you can connect to, say a localhost sandbox or other tried database. That would help you to determine if it's server side or client installation issues.
I have difficulties connecting to my MS SQL Server and I can't find tutorial or answer how to do this, even though I think this should be something pretty standard.

But I'm not able to connect to a SQL Server. In my Configuration Tools\SQL Server Configuration Manager I see this when I open it :
I set to Enable all TCP\IP and Named Pipes (Just saw that this may be a problem) and in the properties of the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) from Services I see this:

some sort of password (not entered by me) it seems to be something default, but since I'm not sure where the problem is I try to show everything I think may have something to do with solving my problem.
At the end I tried different options to connect to my SQL Server form the Management Studio I ended up with this:
As you see I get an error (included in order to be able to read it). I read the the machine name may be required so my User Account name is Xman and my machine's name is Xman-PC. Eveh though my printscreen image is not from this try I made an attempt to connect to the Server with XMAN-PC\SQLEXPRESS but again - no success.\
Could you point me to a good tutorial on how to connect to a MS SQL Server (I can't believe there's nothing that explains in simple steps what you need to do to connect to a server) or could you tell me how to set-up my configurations so I actually can start to work with databases?

Forgot to mention in Command Prompyt - sqlcmd command also returns error - Could not open SQL connection.

Finally I managed to connect using Windows Authentication and (local)\sqlexpress for ServerName. Which at least means that everything is working. But now even more I would like to know how to connect using SQL Server Authentication. It must be something default as it was for Windows Authentication?!
Looks like you've done the hard work - last step will be turning on SQL Server Authentication.
Since you installed with the default values, only Windows Authentication is allowed; you need to set it to SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode. You can do this through Management Studio through the instance Properties -> Security.

I am trying to build an SSIS package to import text files to SQL data tables and then move the text files to a 'processed' file.
I can get the package to run successfully on my workstation in Visual Studio 2005 (although I got 'access denied' on the 'move' operation but I will worry about that later).
However, when I deploy to the SQL server, and execute the package on the server, I get DTS_E_PRODUCTLEVELTOLOW error on the import to SQL stage. I have checked the SSIS service is running on the server which it is.
The data upload is very simple - just the first column from the text file plus the file name in two columns, so none of the 'smart' stuff that might not be installed.
Can anyone help?

Possible Causes
This message might appear because of one of the following problems:
You have installed BI Development Studio but you have not installed Integration Services. Running packages outside Business Intelligence Development Studio requires the installation of Integration Services.
Your package may be attempting to use advanced components for Analysis Services, data mining, or text mining that are available only in SQL Server Enterprise.
In the unlikely case you are using SQL Server 2005 without any service packs, there was a problem with running the Import-/Export Data Wizard. This problem was solved beginning with SP1.

To find out, what SQL Server Version you are running, execute the following query on your server:
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion'), SERVERPROPERTY ('productlevel'), SERVERPROPERTY ('edition')
The second column of the result tells you the service pack level.
