Firefox print colspan borders on second page - html

I have a long table that can be printed only on 2 pages. The table also has colspans in the thead section. When printing the table, borders are missing from cells where there was a colspan above.
It's probably a Firefox bug since in Chrome there's no problem. But my client uses Firefox, so I need to solve this problem somehow. I'll report this bug to Mozilla, but I wouldn't like to wait years until they fix it.
Do you know any workaround that could be used here?
This is how the table is rendered in Firefox (it has much more rows in reality)
But when I print it, some borders disappear from the second page.
Here I zoomed into the second page:
Here's my example code:
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
th, td{
border-style: solid;
border-width: 1px;
border-color: black;
padding: 5px;
}
table{
border-collapse: collapse;
}
</style>
</head>

Here's what I have done:
I wrapped the content of every second cell with a div.
Then I expanded the size of the div to the cell's size. Then I used the div's border-left property instead.
CSS (less):
tbody tr>td:nth-of-type(even){
padding: 0 !important;
&>div{
padding: 2px;
position: relative;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
margin-left: -1px;
border-left-style: solid;
border-left-width: 1px;
border-left-color: black;
}
}

How do we pull it off? Thanks!
The code I used is:

Box shadow in one direction and with blur that works seamlessly with sibling elements

I have an HTML table with a sticky header, where the sticky property is set on the th elements.
I want to apply a box-shadow with a blur, but doing so causes the shadow to leak / bleed on the sides of each element.
I have created a CodePen that demonstrates the problem, and where the desired shadow is visible below the elements.
I have tried adding a spread parameter as box-shadow: 0px 5px 7px rgba(9, 30, 66, 0.08);, which will solve the issue with the side-shadows but that instead causes the shadow the separate from each other below them.
Is it possible to create a box-shadow that only is directed in the down direction, and is seamless with sibling box shadows?
Since it's not possible to apply position: sticky; to thead or tr your best bet would be to fake the box-shadow on the th elements by using an absolutely positioned pseudo element + linear-gradient. Here's an example:
table {
text-align: left;
position: relative;
border-collapse: collapse;
}
th, td {
padding: 0.25rem;
}
th {
background: white;
position: sticky;
top: 0;
}
th::after {
content: '';
position: absolute;
bottom: -6px;
right: 0;
left: 0;
height: 6px;
background: linear-gradient(rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.15), rgba(0, 0, 0, 0));
}

Table Background Image Displaying in Front of Table

After adding a background image to my table, the image is displaying over the table and the contents of the table are hidden. Why is this? HTML and CSS code is below:
.muscles_worked {
background-image: url(images/dumbbell.png);
border: 1px dashed black;
margin: 0 auto;
margin-top: 50px;
}
<table class="muscles_worked">
<caption>Muscles Worked in this Program</caption>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Part of Body</th>
<th>Day(s)</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td rowspan="2">Legs</td>
<td>Monday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Friday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td rowspan="3">Core</td>
<td>Monday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Thursday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Friday</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
A better way might be to set the table in a div and set the background on that.
div.muscles_worked {
background-image: url('http://placekitten.com/700/500?image=13');
margin: 0 auto;
margin-top: 50px;
display: inline-block;
}
.muscles_worked > table {
border: 1px dashed black;
}
<div class="muscles_worked">
<table>
<caption>Muscles Worked in this Program</caption>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Part of Body</th>
<th>Day(s)</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td rowspan="2">Legs</td>
<td>Monday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Friday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td rowspan="3">Core</td>
<td>Monday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Thursday</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Friday</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
</div>
Hope it helps. Cheers!

css styling table borders looking strange

I encountered strange problem with table styling. Everything at least for me in code seems to be fine. however effects are unexpected.
I have to leave 0.3em margin as this is my student task, but I don't want the lines in the bottom to be separate.
Any webmaster can help? I would be very thankful. Here is peace of my code:

<tr>

</table>
and style
td{
border:1pxsolidblue;
margin:0.3em,0.3em,0.3em,0.3em;
}
table{
border:1pxsolidblue;
border-collapse:collapse;
}
And this is how my table looks like
Anyone? Antyhing?
you have opening tags instead of closing tags td:
change
<td>Gatunek</td>
<td>żyrafa
<td>
to
<td>Gatunek</td>
<td>żyrafa
</td>
in various places
As mentioned in my original comment to your answer (prior to deletion for redundancy), the problem is the syntax errors of unclosed <td> elements (possibly typos), correcting your HTML fixes the problem. Corrected HTML:
<table>
<tr>
<td>Kategoriasystematyczna</td>
<td>Takson</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Domena</td>
<td>eukarionty</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Królestwo</td>
<td>zwierzęta</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Gromada</td>
<td>ssaki</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Podgromada</td>
<td>ssakiżyworodne</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Infragromada</td>
<td>łożyskowce</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rząd</td>
<td>parzystokopytne</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rodzina</td>
<td>żyrafowate</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rodzaj</td>
<td>Giraffa(Brünnich,1771)</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Gatunek</td>
<td>żyrafa</td>
</tr>
</table>
JS Fiddle demo.
Also, your CSS is problematic, you have commas between the values of your margin property-values and no spaces to separate the properties of the border; fixed, it should look like:
td {
border: 1px solid blue;
margin: 0.3em;
}
table {
border: 1px solid blue;
border-collapse: collapse;
}

Merging cells in a table doesn't work as expected

This is a table that I would like to achieve:
But I keep getting something like this:
This is what I've tried:
<table>
<tr>
<td rowspan="2">a</td>
<td colspan="2">b</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2">c</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2">d</td>
<td>e</td>
</tr>
</table>
Here's a link to JSFiddle with this (with some extra code for illustration): http://jsfiddle.net/2292D/
You need only vertical-align:middle and text-align:center
Apply this css to div
div {
display:table-cell; // Change
vertical-align:middle; //Change
border: 1px solid blue;
}
td {
border: 1px solid red;
text-align:center; // Change
}
Fiddle Demo
Good old days using table, use rowspan and colspan to achieve that kind of tablular structure, if you are using this for layout than don't, use div instead with float and CSS Positioning.
Demo
<table border="1" width="100%">
<tr>
<td rowspan="2" width="30%">a</td>
<td colspan="2">b</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2">c</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2" width="70%">d</td>
<td>e</td>
</tr>
</table>
I guess you need 3 rows for that, try my code:
<table>
<tr>
<td rowspan="2"><div id="a">a</div></td>
<td colspan="2"><div id="b">b</div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2"><div id="c">c</div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2"><div id="d">d</div></td>
<td><div id="e">e</div></td>
</tr>
Here's my fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/LLe5c/
apply your id on td
html:
<table>
<tr>
<td id="a" rowspan="2"><div>a</div></td>
<td id="b" colspan="2"><div >b</div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td id="c" colspan="2"><div >c</div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td id="d" colspan="2"><div >d</div></td>
<td id="e"><div >e</div></td>
</tr>
</table>
Here is the Solution
<table>
<tr>
<td rowspan="2">a</td>
<td colspan="2">b</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2">c</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2">d</td>
<td>e</td>
</tr>
</table>
<style>
table {
border-collapse: collapse;
border-spacing: 0;
}
td {
border: 1px solid red;
}
</style>
