I want to be able to send an sms at a specified time without being near my phone.
I have the following code:
Windows.ApplicationModel.Chat.ChatMessage msg = new Windows.ApplicationModel.Chat.ChatMessage();
msg.Body = message;
msg.Recipients.Add(number);
await Windows.ApplicationModel.Chat.ChatMessageManager.ShowComposeSmsMessageAsync(msg);
I get the following error:
The program '[5276] SendSMS.exe' has exited with code -1073741819 (0xc0000005) 'Access violation'
what can I do to fix this and be able to access SMS?
Also, Is it possible not to show me the UI of the SMS but to actually send it? I need this pretty urgently.
I windows phone 8.1 it is not possible to send SMS through your app in the backgournd with out user interaction

I'm using win xp Professional x64 Edition and I'm trying to send message to Windows Message Service like using net send. I'm using mailslot:
LPCTSTR SlotName = TEXT("\\\\.\\mailslot\\messngr");
hFile = CreateFile(SlotName,
GENERIC_WRITE | GENERIC_READ,
FILE_SHARE_WRITE | FILE_SHARE_READ,
(LPSECURITY_ATTRIBUTES)NULL,
CREATE_ALWAYS,
FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL,
(HANDLE)NULL);
and after launching it, I got error 5 from GetLastError() in CreateFile. I don't know how to fix it. I gave all VM permission, I turned message service ofc, and I can open it to be notpad like others suggested in: CreateFile() Failed With GetLastError() = 5. I tried many flags, but it didn't change anything. Any guess?
Like it says in the mailslot documentation, only the process that created the mailslot can read from it. Mailslots are one-way communication.
Remove the request for read access.
Basically I am PHP developer! and now I want to implement the push notifications for windows phone! So for this I have refereed many blogs and also started implement on this! but for demo purpose how I can get my device token and device specific type of my phone that having Windows 8.1 OS.
Is any GUI tool for getting this.
If you need the Device Token as follows-
Byte[] DeviceArrayID = (Byte[])Microsoft.Phone.Info.DeviceExtendedProperties.GetValue("DeviceUniqueId");
string UniqueDeviceID = Convert.ToBase64String(DeviceArrayID);
Debug.WriteLine("Device ID - " + UniqueDeviceID
Also, if you need help regarding push notifications in Windows Phone apps, follow this link-
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh202967%28v=vs.105%29.aspx
It also has a project for a simple webpage which can send notification to your device for testing purposes.
The following should work
object DeviceUniqueID;
byte[] DeviceIDbyte = null;
if (DeviceExtendedProperties.TryGetValue("DeviceUniqueId", out DeviceUniqueID))
DeviceIDbyte = (byte[])DeviceUniqueID;
string di = Convert.ToBase64String(DeviceIDbyte);
The above code will give you the device ID. You can use the string di to pass the Device ID to your web service to provide the user with push notifications.
in my windows phone 8 application i am using custom uri association to launch another application through my phone.
i.e
await Windows.System.Launcher.LaunchUriAsync(new Uri("sixtag:"));
but my app is not able to get certified for store because of this. the testing team tells that you app terminates unexpectedly while executing this.
now, i don't know how to deal with this.
is there any way to throw exception if the app which i am launching is not installed on phone ?
or i should try something else so my task gets accomplished and app gets certified for store as well.
You do not need to wrap your launch in try/catch or check for success as described in the other answers. As soon as you call LaunchUriAsync, the platform takes over and will automatically handle the possibility of no app being installed by asking the user if she wishes to search in the store.
A couple of things to double-check:
1) Ensure that you can successfully back into your app following the navigation to sixtag.
2) Ensure that your call to LaunchUriAsync is the direct result of a user action (eg. tapping a button)
try
{
await Windows.System.Launcher.LaunchUriAsync(new Uri("sixtag:"));
}
catch
{
MessageBox.Show("please install Sixtag from the app store","AppMissing", MessageBoxButton.OK);
}
you can perhaps display another button and on clicking directly navigate to the app store. See if this solves your problem. Do vote it up if it does :)
You are needed to handle that as shown here . Also Read out Remarks given there.
I have a problem with sending and receiving data from elm327 device.
I tried to connect to the device using channel 01 (on Bluetooth) but it doesn't matter what command I send, I just receive the string "AT+BRSF=24\r" as an answer.
I tried also to connect at channel 16 and there I receive a string "NO DATA"
somebody knows what is the problem?
thank you,
Arie
The AT+BRSF=24 response sounds like you're communicating with the wrong Bluetooth device (perhaps a headset?).
"NO DATA" sounds like an ELM327 response. What command are you sending? Try "ATZ\r" to start with.
Does anyone know of a way that I can configure a Windows Phone 8 to generate Crash Dumps for applications that are being developed?
I know that we can get access to dumps that are sent to the MS app store, but I need a dump of an application that is still in development.
Thanks
In "App.xaml.cs" class you will find a method called "Application_UnhandledException". This method is launched every time that your app crashes due an unhandled exception. In the event args you will find the error message, stack trace, etc...
Add your logic here to dump the crash (for example, send an email, or store the log in a database, etc...)
BTW, if the exception is recoverable, you can handle the error and don't close the app setting the Handled variable to true:
// Recover from the error
e.Handled = true;
