I have an xml file with various nodes and want to get first nodes of it, not children. Here's my code:
function processXML(event:Event):void {
menu_xml = new XML(event.target.data);
trace (menu_xml.child("mainmenu"));
}
This code doesn't display anything. I'm using Flash Professional CC 2015.0.
EDIT: Here's the xml content:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<mainmenu>
<home/>
<portfolio/>
<contact/>
<friends>
<joe/>
<karen/>
<bob/>
</friends>
</mainmenu>
EDIT 2: I need to get only these strings: home, portfolio, contact, friends.
Your variable menu_xml is the base node, by calling menu_xml.child("mainmenu") you are seeking for XML like this:
<mainmenu>//menu_xml
<mainmenu/>//menu_xml.child("mainmenu");
</mainmenu>
Obviously this doesn't exist and the function returns an empty XML record. Your data set:
<mainmenu>//menu_xml = new XML(event.target.data);
<home/>//menu_xml.child("home");
<portfolio/> //menu_xml.child("portfolio");
<contact/> //menu_xml.child("contact");
<friends>//menu_xml.child("friends");
<joe/> //menu_xml.child("friends").child("joe");
<karen/> //menu_xml.child("friends").child("karen");
<bob/> //menu_xml.child("friends").child("bob");
</friends>
</mainmenu>
EDIT: To get the node names you will have to loop through the XML object structure, by looping through the result of the children() you will be able to use the name() function to get the name of each child of the root
for each (var node:XML in menu_xml.children())
{
trace(node.name());
}
output:
home
portfolio
contact
friends
For more information about Traversing XML structures in AS3, I recommend the AS3 Documentation
trace("Data loaded."+menu_xml );

I am creating functional tests dynamically using Intern v4 and dojo 1.7. To accomplish this I am assigning registerSuite to a variable and attaching each test to the Tests property in registerSuite:
var registerSuite = intern.getInterface('object').registerSuite;
var assert = intern.getPlugin('chai').assert;
// ...........a bunch more code .........
registerSuite.tests['test_name'] = function() {
// READ JSON FILE HERE
var JSON = 'filename.json';
// ....... a bunch more code ........
}
That part is working great. The challenge I am having is that I need to read information from a different JSON file for each test I am dynamically creating. I cannot seem to find a way to read a JSON file while the dojo javascript is running (I want to call it in the registerSuite.tests function where it says // READ JSON FILE HERE). I have tried dojo's xhr.get, node's fs, intern's this.remote.get, nothing seems to work.
I can get a static JSON file with define(['dojo/text!./generated_tests.json']) but this does not help me because there are an unknown number of JSON files with unknown filenames, so I don't have the information I would need to call them in the declare block.
Please let me know if my description is unclear. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Since you're creating functional tests, they'll always run in Node, so you have access to the Node environment. That means you could do something like:
var registerSuite = intern.getPlugin('interface.object').registerSuite;
var assert = intern.getPlugin('chai').assert;
var tests = {};
tests['test_name'] = function () {
var JSON = require('filename.json');
// or require.nodeRequire('filename.json')
// or JSON.parse(require('fs').readFileSync('filename.json', {
// encoding: 'utf8'
// }))
}
registerSuite('my suite', tests);
Another thing to keep in mind is assigning values to registerSuite.tests won't (or shouldn't) actually do anything. You'll need to call registerSuite, passing it your suite name and tests object, to actually register tests.
Consider a REST URL like /api/users/findByCriteria which receives POSTed JSON that contains details of the criteria, and outputs a list of Users.
How would one call this with Restangular so that its results are similar to Restangulars getList()?
Restangular.all('users').post("findByCriteria", crit)... might work, but I don't know how to have Restangular recognize that the result will be a list of Users
Restangular.all('users').getListFromPOST("findByCriteria", crit)... would be nice to be able to do, but it doesn't exist.
Doing a GET instead of a POST isn't an option, because the criteria is complex.
Well,
I experience same problem and I workaround it with plain function, which return a plain array of objects. but it will remove all Restangular helper functions. So, you cant use it.
Code snippet:
Restangular.one('client').post('list',JSON.stringify({
offset: offset,
length: length
})).then(
function(data) {
$scope.clients = data.plain();
},
function(data) {
//error handling
}
);
You can get a POST to return a properly restangularized collection by setting a custom handler for OnElemRestangularized in a config block. This handler is called after the object has been Restangularized. isCollection is passed in to show if the obect was treated as a collection or single element. In the code below, if the object is an array, but was not treated as collection, it is restangularized again, as a collection. This adds all the restangular handlers to each element in the array.
let onElemR = (changedElem, isCollection, route, Restangular: restangular.IService) => {
if (Array.isArray(changedElem) && !isCollection ) {
return Restangular.restangularizeCollection(null, changedElem, changedElem.route);
}
return changedElem;
};
RestangularProvider.setOnElemRestangularized(onElemR);
I am newbie to dojo and json. I am trying to Query the server to get data as json and parse the result and use html template in a widget to display.
To test it I tried this.
require(["dojo/request", "dojo/dom", "dojo/dom-construct","dojo/_base/array", "my/widgets/", "dojo/domReady!"],
function(request, dom,domConst, arrayUtil, support){
// Load up our authors
request("js/my/data/sample.json", {
handleAs: "json"
}).then(function(LinksMap){
// Get a reference to our container
arrayUtil.forEach(LinksMap, function(List){
// Create our widget and place it
console.debug(LinksMap);
//var widget = new support(author).placeAt(authorContainer);
Not sure if I am doing it right. Is there anything I am misssing. I am following the example as provided here and building on it.
I think from the comments on your post you want to modified the deferred handling function to be
request("js/my/data/sample.json", {
handleAs: "json"
}).then(function(jsonResults){
console.log(jsonResults.Result)
});
The json you posted is an object with a property Result. The Result property contains an array of objects. Those objects then contain a property LinksMap which holds another object.
I would like to extend the native JSON object of node.js. In my example, I was able to extend it to add a merge(json1, json2) function, which merges 2 JSONs:
JSON.merge = function(target) {
var sources = [].slice.call(arguments, 1);
sources.forEach(function (source) {
for (var prop in source) {
target[prop] = source[prop];
}
});
return target;
}
This script is larglely inspired from this question: Combine or merge JSON on node.js without jQuery
To have a cleaner code, I put this script in a library folder, and require it in my main script. This is what I did...
My lib/JSON.js file:
extends.merge = function(target){
// The same script as above.
}
and in my app.js file:
JSON = require('./lib/JSON')
It works well, but now, native JSON methods don't work (like .stringify). Then I digged a little bit, and tried to extend JSON using .prototype, like this (in lib/JSON.js):
extends.prototype.merge = ...
But get the following error:
TypeError: Cannot set property 'merge' of undefined
I really don't know what to do (and what I'm doing) since solving a problems causes another problem.
Please, need help.
Thanks.
Hi I am trying to implement a autocomplete field using Zend Jquery. I followed a tutorial to grab the data from an array and I have extended the code to access the data from my mysql table.
IndexController.php
$this->view->autocompleteElement = new ZendX_JQuery_Form_Element_AutoComplete('ac');
$this->view->autocompleteElement->setLabel('Autocomplete');
$this->view->autocompleteElement->setJQueryParam('source', '/index/city');
This calls the cityAction()
public function cityAction()
{
$results = Application_Model_City::search($this->_getParam('term'));
$this->_helper->json(array_values($results));
}
I then call the Model City
public static function search($term)
{
$region = new Application_Model_DbTable_Regions();
$results = $region->getRegion($term);
return $results;
}
And finally the Regions db model
public function getRegion($term)
{
$select = $this->select()->from($this,'City')
->where('City LIKE ? ',$term.'%');
return $this->fetchAll($select)->toArray();
}
Now when I go the autocomplete field it shows the results but as UNDEFINED , I think its something to do the way I am send the data back to the json helper.
I used firebug and I can see the data is been pulled in the following format.
[{"City":"London"},{"City":"Londonderry"},{"City":"Longfield"},{"City":"Longhope"},{"City":"Longniddry"}]
I think this format is incorrect, please any body dealt with this before?
Cheers
J
The ZendX_JQuery_Form_Element_AutoComplete element is a proxy to the AutoComplete View Helper, which is a proxy to the jQuery UI Autocomplete widget.
If you read the overview on the jQuery UI Autocomplete page, you will note:
The local data can be a simple Array of Strings, or it contains Objects for each item in the array, with either a label or value property or both. The label property is displayed in the suggestion menu. The value will be inserted into the input element after the user selected something from the menu. If just one property is specified, it will be used for both, eg. if you provide only value-properties, the value will also be used as the label.
When a String is used, the Autocomplete plugin expects that string to point to a URL resource that will return JSON data. It can be on the same host or on a different one (must provide JSONP). The request parameter "term" gets added to that URL. The data itself can be in the same format as the local data described above.
So, the JSON you are returning to the autocomplete should be structured more like:
[{"label":"London","value":"London"},{"label":"Londonderry","value":"Londonderry"},{"label":"Longfield","value":"Longfield"}]
Good luck!
Fixed the problem afters hours of pain!
I modified the below code where it accesses the data
public function getRegion($term)
{
$select = $this->select()->from($this,'City')
->where('City LIKE ? ',$term.'%');
return $this->fetchAll($select)->toArray();
}
I added a line of SQL City AS Value
public function getRegion($term)
{
$select = $this->select()->from($this,'City AS value')
->where('City LIKE ? ',$term.'%');
return $this->fetchAll($select)->toArray();
}
This seems to have worked!
Cheers
J
