If user in Chrome changes Zoom to for example 90% then Black arrow separates into two pieces. I want black arrow to be always look like when it is on 100%. I want black arrow to be always look like when it is on 100%. Any suggestions? jsfiddle

You can avoid this problem by positioning your arrow using left: 100%; instead of right: -30px;.
Remove right: -30px; from #sidebar .list a.active:after
Add left: 100%; to #sidebar .list a.active:after
My best guess as to why this is happening is that this is probably due to the way the browser is rounding pixel values.

Why do you want to see you page in 90% zoom. try to code your web page in 100%.
it is obvious when you zoom your page the pixel will distort.

CSS process flow arrows - bad formatting?

I modified 3 different peoples code to make css arrows and I think I made it more complicated than it needs to be. Any CSS expert than can help me clean this up?
I can't seem to modify padding and other attributes to get this where I want it within the divs.

My arrows display nicely but I am having difficulty adjusting the padding to 0. I've tried the #, the ul class, the il class and I am a bit baffled why I cannot remove the 10px (I believe its the padding).
There is also a faintly darker border on the left side of the triangular portion of the arrows, if you look closely, that I'd like to have match the color exactly.

navigation drop down displays too far left

I have been working on fixing this but cannot figure out what I am missing. I would like for drop down list to show right below its parent. The list shows but all go to far left and forces the remaining nav items to drop down to another line. i have included a snippet for what is currently looks like and an image of what I want it to look like. Also, I have been trying to figure out how to add down fa fa-caret to nav items with drop down list. Please help!

You can achieve this by first making the div.list element into an absolute positioned. The 'display:block' property was pushing all the other content down to the next row because the block element was taking up space.
As you see now the list is no longer pushing the content down but now it is not aligned to the correct nav item. We are also going to add a left:0 so that the div.list is to the left of the parent property.
Now the parent property needs a position of relative so that the left:0 on the child element is being positioned relative to the parent element.
.dropdown:hover .list {
display: block;
position: absolute;
left: 0;
}
.navbar li {
border-left: solid 2px #000000;
display: inline;
list-style-type: none;
width: 800px;
padding: 0;
position: relative;
}
The problem with your CSS code is, you missed to add position: relative and position: absolute to the .dropdown and .list selectors, which is compulsory to create dropdown. Try this code.
.navbar {
background: linear-gradient(#9E0A0C, #EBEBEB);
padding: 10px;

stop list dropdown going off-screen

I am using HTML lists for dropdown menus in my navbar. The problem I have come across is that when the browser window is small, the dropdown goes off-screen to the left.
I am wondering on the best way to simply center it and stretch the content across 100% at a small screensize.
The problem is the notifications menu (hover over the little envelope).
I've put up some code I ripped from the site which gives you an idea: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/eBeYXd
Hover over the far-right item and the menu will appear, make the browser the size of a mobile screen and see the dropdown move off to the left being cut off.
Code below:
<div class="navigation-main">
<div class="container group">
<ul class="header-navbar">
<!-- notes test -->
<li class="dropdown pull-right alerts-box">
<img src="/templates/default/images/comments/envelope.png" alt=""/> <span class="badge badge-important">1</span> <b class="caret"></b>
<ul class="dropdown-menu">
<li><strong>liamdawe</strong> replied to "test a test test a test test a test test a test te…"</li>
<li class="divider"></li><li>Clear all</li>
<li class="divider"></li>
<li>See all</li>
</ul>
</li>
<!-- notes test -->
</ul>
</div>
</div>
CSS code:
*, *:before, *:after {
box-sizing: inherit;
}
.navigation-main {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 49px;
z-index: 10001;

play with min-width: or max-width: and probably allow your text to wrap
something like this
.dropdown-menu a {
display: block;
clear: both;
line-height: 26px;
color: #999;
min-width: 200px;
white-space: wrap;
padding: 2px;
}

css - textbox filling to width, right justify buttons, etc

In some ways, I'm still pretty new to CSS and don't "get" how things are done (is seems convoluted, and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to figure things out) - so I am hoping someone here can help me. I'll post the relevant code. I am a programmer - but can't seem to figure out how to do what I want. (BTW - are there any good tools for 'visually' editing CSS? I'm doing this purely by code).
a) I need an HTML text box to expand/contract as the browser window expands/contracts, with a 'search' image icon to the right of it.
b) I need some signup/login buttons right justified
c) I need the logo/text left justified.
So basically the flow is:
[#1 logo] [#2 menu items ] [#3 search-bar with icon] [#4 login/signup buttons]
And if the browser window expands, then #3 expands to fill in the space.
i.e.,
small desktop
[#1][#2][#3][#4]
big desktop
[#1][#2][<#3-------------------------->][#4]
ideally, I'd also like to figure out on mobile (tiny desktop) how to make it:
[#1][#4]
[#3---->]
This is the HTML I have (with other stuff removed to make it simple)

any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds like you will need judicious use of media queries:
#media screen and (min-width: 480px) {
body {
background-color: lightgreen;
}
}
http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_mediaquery.asp
You've already indicated the three device sizes you need media queries for:
small desktop
[#1][#2][#3][#4]
big desktop
[#1][#2][<#3-------------------------->][#4]
mobile
[#1][#4]
[#3---->]
Now you just need to create media queries for those three sizes and set the CSS accordingly.
Mobile: Hide #2. Maybe play with floats to get #3 to display below the other two.
Big Desktop: Change #3 width (percentage based most likely)
Small Desktop: #1, #2, #3, #4 should all have the same width (percentage based most likely)
You can then use the width property to adjust the size of buttons on these different media widths:
http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_dim_width.asp

Create the triangles in css

How this one can achieved in CSS. I googled out but i didn't find any solution.
Try this:
HTML
<nav class="nav">
<ul>
<li>1. Account Info</li>
<li>2. Verification</li>
<li>3. Enjoy</li>
</ul>
</nav>

border-bottom: 1.5em solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);

And the DEMO
Here's my attempt: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/xDeCd/
This example works well even if the user changes his font-size or triggers a page zoom. List-items should not break in several lines if the browser is resized.

Markup
<ol>
<li>1. Account info</li>
<li>2. Verification</li>
<li>3. Enjoy</li>
</ol>
(add links if/where necessary, I've just supposed they are not links but simply information labels about the required steps during a process).
