I am new in yii2, When I extract yii2 advanced content from an archive with "basic application template", "Yii 2 with advanced application template" and when I upload on server, it's showing blank page.
I checked yii2 basic it's working fine but only in case of advance template getting blank page.
The advanced template url is like: ../advanced/frontend/web/index.php?r=site
But getting Error: No input file specified.
on Apache Server, getting this error:
Not Found The requested URL advanced/backend/web/index.php was not found on this server.
I tried installing from composer as well as from an archive but getting same and no index file exists inside backend/web/ and frontend/web/.
Edit:
As Jichao suggested, I tried making subdomain which points to the advanced/backend/web, But still the problem is same.
Scrrenshot:
Add .htaccess file into the root directory of your project. You should do it manually after yii2 installation. Simple example of the .htaccess file:
Options -Indexes
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^public
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ frontend/web/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
# Deny accessing below extensions
<Files ~ "(.json|.lock|.git)">
Order allow,deny
Deny from all
</Files>
# Deny accessing dot files
RewriteRule (^\.|/\.) - [F]

I recently started using a static site with godaddy.com without a cms. It's a basic website I uploaded and is only html/js/css.
When people type "website.com/page" they get 404 not found.
When they type "website.com/page.html" they get the correct page.
How can I fix my site so users can simply type "website/page" and not be forced to type "website/page.html" without using php?
SOLUTION
After researching the information about .htaccess files provided by #Gijsberts (thank you), I did the following:
Created a .htaccess file on server.
Added the following code:
# Remove the .html extension from html files
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^.]+)$ $1.html [NC,L]
Most CMS systems have a .htaccess file what handles the redirect and the 404 errors. In CMS system they are most called "Pretty-urls". Read the links below to set up those pretty urls yourself with a static web page without a cms.
https://mediatemple.net/community/products/grid/204643080/how-do-i-redirect-my-site-using-a-htaccess-file
http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/using-htaccess-files-for-pretty-urls--net-6049
You normally can do this with your Webserver config. In Apache you have this enabled automatically. In nginx you should have a look at this tutorial.
If you are using caddy you have to config your caddyfile like
ext .html .htm .php
if you are using microsoft iis have a look at microsofts tutorial.
Let me know if you are using something else or need more help.
EDIT
If you are using a webspace you may are not able to change the config of the webserver. you now can use .htaccess. create a .htaccess file and write down something like
Options +MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]
Today I tried to write a .htaccess file for first time in order to remove .html extension from url bar along with some other things that I wanted to do. Since I was unfamiliar with all this I read several articles before coding.
I ended up with the following code. I also removed .html from all links. The problem is that when visiting my domain I get the following error.
//The resource you are looking for has been removed,
//had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Is my code correct?
UPDATED .htaccess
//Rewrite to www
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
//Remove .html UNTIL NOW THIS IS THE ONLY PART
//OF THE CODE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.html [NC,L]
//Caching schema
<FilesMatch "\.(jpg|png)$">
Header set Cache-Control "private, max-age=160704000"
</FilesMatch>
//Prevent viewing of .htaccess file
<Files .htaccess>
order allow,deny
deny from all
</Files>
In a separate .htaccess
//Prevent directory listings
Options All -Indexes
MAIN ERRORS
If I click on link like:
Home
Then I get the same error.
Thank you all in advance.
This is native in Apache without using mod_rewrite by using MultiViews option.
Documentation states:
The effect of MultiViews is as follows: if the server receives a request for /some/dir/foo, if /some/dir has MultiViews enabled, and /some/dir/foo does not exist, then the server reads the directory looking for files named foo.*, and effectively fakes up a type map which names all those files, assigning them the same media types and content-encodings it would have if the client had asked for one of them by name. It then chooses the best match to the client's requirements.
I finally managed to resolve a part of the problem. For starters I changed my server from windows to linux.
Then to remove html extension I used this code in .htaccess (the other codes didn't work well, giving me an error message)
//Remove .html
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.html [NC,L]
I also removed any .html instances from all links.
Now it works like a charm.
I'm making a web page using my Raspberry PI and Apache. I made the page chat.html.
To connect to it I have to write in Chrome "http://192.168.1.39/chat.php". How can I hide the '.php'(or anything else) from page URL, so when I connect to "http://192.168.1.39/chat" directly it doesn't give Error 404?
Thank you in advance.
Use URL rewriting by utilizing .htaccess. Basically .htaccess is a file that let's you alter the config of a webserver like Apache.
In your web site root, create a filed called .htaccess.
Paste this in it:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]
*.php files can now be accessed the way you describe. For more info on htaccess and url rewriting, please reference http://alexcican.com/post/how-to-remove-php-html-htm-extensions-with-htaccess/
I am struggling to get my head around an htaccess rule to redirect requests for an html file to go to a custom post. I have looked on here and in other places and nearly got there.
I want to redirect ONLY mydomain.com/profiles/.html to mydomain.com/name_profile/
So mydomain.com/profiles/smith.html to mydomain.com/name_profiles/smith. There are some 900 html files to be redirected and they are all contained in this directory. Other html files in the domain I need to leave correctly associated.
I currently have
RedirectMatch 301 ^/([^/]+)/([^/.]+)\.html$ /$1/$2/
RedirectMatch 301 ^/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/([^/.]+)\.html$ /$1/$2/$3/
But this redirects all html pages not just the ones in the profiles directory.
I am new at htaccess and have found several tutorials but none at a level I can understand, so any help is most welcome.
Place this rule just below RewriteEngine On line:
RewriteRule ^profiles/([^.]+)\.html$ /name_profiles/$1 [L,NC,R=301]
Use this rule:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^profiles/([^.]+)\.html/? name_profiles/$1 [DPI,L,R]
Or better, remove your RewriteMatch rules and replace with this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/.]+)\.html/? $1/$2 [DPI,L,R]
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/]+)/([^/.]+)\.html/? $1/$2/$3 [DPI,L,R]
This assumes that mod_rewrite is both installed and activated for htaccess files.
If you are not sure, to check if mod_rewrite is installed, look at the list of installed modules in the output of phpinfo();
By default, mod_rewrite is not enabled for htaccess files. If you are managing your own server, open httpd.conf
and make sure that the webroot directory block contains one of these lines: AllowOverride FileInfo or AllowOverride All
I've been following some YouTube videos to try and get this working but it doesn't seem to want to. This is how my .htaccess file is looking:
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$l
I am completely new to .htaccess, I'm not completely sure how it works but my common sense tells me to just create a file, call it .htaccess and place it in the same folder as my index.php, right?
So when I go to, say index.php/foo/bar or even just /foo/bar/ I get a 404 error.
What are the possible problems? It's a Windows 2008 Server with PHP 5.3.10 installed.
As beginning your last line should be
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$l
And it should work as you expect it... pass all requests but ones for existing files/folders into index.php
The .htaccess can be in any folder which is hit by the request URL... the only difference is the base of the URL which is relative to the folder where is the .htaccess located
Example:
/folder1
.htaccess
index.php
/folder2
.htaccess
index.php
If you access /test.php none if your .htaccess files will be processed (it's not related to the request URI.
If you access /folder1/test.php the corresponding .htaccess in folder1 will be used and the $1 in your RewriteRule will show test.php, the /folder1/ will be stripped from the URI.
If you access /folder1/folder2/test.php it's similar... apache will use .htaccess from folder2... the one from folder1 will be ignored (a bit counderintuitive)
