How to use import in HTML - html

I want to put a common header and footer for multiple html pages and thought of using HTML5 import.
But the header is not coming... Is there something I am missing?
I used in my index.html.
My index.html code:
<html lang="en">
<head>

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">

As of now I just considered the header.
header.html code :
<!-- BEGIN MENU -->

<li>FAQ</li>
<li>About Us</li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
</nav>
</div>
<!-- END MENU -->
Is there any other way to use a common html file for header and calling it?

What you might have meant in your question is Apache mod_include. It can include other files into your html.
You would put
<!--#include file="header.html" -->
into your file, after enabling the module.
For other solutions (apparently, the <object> tag works as well), see the link by #jezzabeans.
If you meant HTML imports, #mplungjan gave the link to browser support. Seems like it is supported in Chrome and Opera, but in no other browser. (Firefox has a workaround, as referenced above)

I am trying to get my navigation bar to have a the toggler button on the left with the brand logo in the middle as similar to the image below
I am unsure how to go about doing this. My current code has button on the far left with the logo at the far right.
CODE
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<!-- Required meta tags -->
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1" />
<!-- Bootstrap CSS -->

<title>Hello, world!</title>
</head>
<body>
<nav class="navbar navbar-light bg-warning">
<div class="container-fluid">
<button class="navbar-toggler">
<span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
</button>
<a class="navbar-brand" href="#">
<img src="https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/assets/brand/bootstrap-logo.svg" alt="" width="130" height="47" />
</a>
</div>
</nav>
<!-- Optional JavaScript; choose one of the two! -->

The easiest Bootstrap solution would be the use of the mx-auto-class:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<!-- Required meta tags -->
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1" />
<!-- Bootstrap CSS -->
<link href="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/bootstrap#5.1.3/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" integrity="sha384-1BmE4kWBq78iYhFldvKuhfTAU6auU8tT94WrHftjDbrCEXSU1oBoqyl2QvZ6jIW3" crossorigin="anonymous" />
<title>Hello, world!</title>
</head>
<body>
<nav class="navbar navbar-light bg-warning">
<div class="container-fluid">
<button class="navbar-toggler">
<span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
</button>
<a class="navbar-brand mx-auto" href="#">
<img src="https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/assets/brand/bootstrap-logo.svg" alt="" width="130" height="47" />
</a>
</div>
</nav>
<!-- Optional JavaScript; choose one of the two! -->
<!-- Option 1: Bootstrap Bundle with Popper -->
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/bootstrap#5.1.3/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js" integrity="sha384-ka7Sk0Gln4gmtz2MlQnikT1wXgYsOg+OMhuP+IlRH9sENBO0LRn5q+8nbTov4+1p" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>

-->
</body>
</html>
Edit: To move the text/logo in the center of the viewport you need custom CSS. You need to move either the text/logo or the menu button out of flow with position: relative/absolute However notice that it can cause a collision issue on smaller screens depending on the width of the text/logo
.navbar-toggler {
position: absolute;
left: 1em;
top: 50%;
transform: translate(0, -50%);
}
.container-fluid {
position: relative;
}
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">

<title>Hello, world!</title>
</head>
<body>
<nav class="navbar navbar-light bg-warning">
<div class="container-fluid">
<button class="navbar-toggler">

<a class="navbar-brand mx-auto" href="#">

<!-- Option 2: Separate Popper and Bootstrap JS -->
<!--
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/#popperjs/core#2.10.2/dist/umd/popper.min.js" integrity="sha384-7+zCNj/IqJ95wo16oMtfsKbZ9ccEh31eOz1HGyDuCQ6wgnyJNSYdrPa03rtR1zdB" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>

</body>
</html>
Put a position relative class to the container holding the navbar button and the logo. After that, add position absolute to the navbar button and just add "m-auto" to the nav-bar-brand container.

How about something like this? I have tried this on codepen & it seems to work fine.

Why are the list items in this simple bootstrap navbar running into each other?

I am getting up to speed with Bootstrap. To start with I am creating a simple collapsible navbar. I have followed basic instructions from getbootstrap.com as explained below but the navbar is not displaying correctly, the menu items are running into each other, and look nothing like the example on getbootstrap.com.
Firstly I copied the sample HTML template, as per the getting started page suggestions:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<!-- The above 3 meta tags *must* come first in the head; any other head content must come *after* these tags -->
<title>Bootstrap 101 Template</title>
<!-- Bootstrap -->
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<!-- HTML5 shim and Respond.js for IE8 support of HTML5 elements and media queries -->
<!-- WARNING: Respond.js doesn't work if you view the page via file:// -->
<!--[if lt IE 9]>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/html5shiv/3.7.3/html5shiv.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/respond/1.4.2/respond.min.js"></script>
<![endif]-->
</head>
<body>
<h1>Hello, world!</h1>
<!-- jQuery (necessary for Bootstrap's JavaScript plugins) -->
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<!-- Include all compiled plugins (below), or include individual files as needed -->
<script src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
Next I changed the CSS and Javascript file locations to use files hosted by MaxCDN, following the code on the getting started page exactly.
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<!-- The above 3 meta tags *must* come first in the head; any other head content must come *after* these tags -->
<title>Bootstrap 101 Template</title>
<!-- Bootstrap -->
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css" integrity="sha384-BVYiiSIFeK1dGmJRAkycuHAHRg32OmUcww7on3RYdg4Va+PmSTsz/K68vbdEjh4u" crossorigin="anonymous">
<!-- HTML5 shim and Respond.js for IE8 support of HTML5 elements and media queries -->
<!-- WARNING: Respond.js doesn't work if you view the page via file:// -->
<!--[if lt IE 9]>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/html5shiv/3.7.3/html5shiv.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/respond/1.4.2/respond.min.js"></script>
<![endif]-->
</head>
<body>
<!-- jQuery (necessary for Bootstrap's JavaScript plugins) -->
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<!-- Include all compiled plugins (below), or include individual files as needed -->
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/js/bootstrap.min.js" integrity="sha384-Tc5IQib027qvyjSMfHjOMaLkfuWVxZxUPnCJA7l2mCWNIpG9mGCD8wGNIcPD7Txa" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
</body>
</html>
Finally I added a simple navbar to the body, using the code on the components section of the getbootsrap documentation.
The finished file is:
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">

<!--[if lt IE 9]>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/html5shiv/3.7.3/html5shiv.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/respond/1.4.2/respond.min.js"></script>
<![endif]-->
</head>
<body>
<nav class="navbar navbar-default">
<div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="menuitems">
<ul class="navbar navbar-nav">
<li>Home</li>
<li>Portfolio</li>
<li>Skills</li>
<li>Contact</li>
</ul>
</div>
</nav>
<!-- jQuery (necessary for Bootstrap's JavaScript plugins) -->
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<!-- Include all compiled plugins (below), or include individual files as needed -->

</body>
</html>
The problem is that the navbar looks like this:
Both Chrome and Firefox display the same.
Here is a codepen of the problem.
What am I missing?
In your code, you wrote
<ul class="navbar navbar-nav">
instead of .navbar put .nav in the ul, code runs fine
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
here is the code:
https://codepen.io/animaxf/pen/YVGBmG
use this code
<nav class="navbar navbar-default">
<div class="container-fluid">
<div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="bs-example-navbar-collapse-1">
<ul class="nav navbar-nav">
<li class="active">Home</li>

</div>

Here I prepare one solution for you!

Adding an image tag breaks navbar in bootstrap

enter image description hereEverytime I add a image with img tag to the html file the navbar stops working? Anyone have an idea... thank you in advance. I thought at first it had something to do with the img-responsive class but it seems not to be the issue.

Bootstrap navbar not adjusting on mobile browser

I am trying to make the navbar responsive to work on any mobile browser and adjust according to the browser window, but for some reason when I load the website on a mobile browser (Chrome) it only shows/collapses the options for a moment and then the navbar stays fixed stretching to make a one page bootstrap website into a two page (book type) website where all of the website content is on the left and the right side is blank
Here is the code of the navbar

CSS
Default bootstrap css files
.container has one fixed width for each screen size in bootstrap (xs,sm,md,lg); .container-fluid expands to fill the available width. You're fine to use fluid.
Do you have the following tag in your head:

Migrating this to the right

So, In a dire attempt to move what is seen as the "twitter sidebar" tag here, to the far right next to the lite chat, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried everything. I mean everything!
