Disable workspaces feature in Chrome developer tool? - google-chrome

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Open the dev tools
Select the "Sources" tab
Open any Javascript file in the Sources tab
After a short (1 to 2 second) delay, the following message appears: "Serving from the file system? Add your files into the workspace"
Dismiss the message by clicking the "X" on the right side
Refresh the page
After a short delay, the message appears again
I don't want to use the workspaces feature, then I should be able to disable these constant, repetitive, annoying messages. Ideally, there would be a dev tool setting to turn off workspace prompts.
My Chrome version: 42.0.2311.135 (64-bit) (Google Chrome is up to date)

You can disable this message permanently by clicking on "never show" as shown in the screenshot below.
This is Developer tools opened in a separate window. I am using latest chrome (v55 as of now), but I have observed that clicking "never show" permanently hides the message in a lot other earlier versions of chrome as well.
P.S.: I had to blur the code as it belongs to the company I am working for.

How to disable the "restore tabs" popup in chrome when it is killed abruptly?

I want to know how to disable the "Restore Tabs Popup" which appears when Google Chrome is opened after being ended abruptly?
This is creating an issue in my Automation Process. I want to run specific chrome Profiles and change the chrome Profiles each hour automatically . I have created scripts and automated opening and closing of Chrome profiles using task scheduler. But this popup is becoming big Hurdle for meenter image description here!
Each time It needs to be cancelled manually! Any solution please?
I have shown screenshot here.
I have tried ways that were available on Google. Like finding "Exit_type" in preferences file in Chrome folder or going to Chrome Flags in experiment section of Chrome but this doesn't helped!

Chrome extension not showing up in store

I published my chrome extension to the store a couple of hours ago and received the message: "Your item has been published. All changes will take effect within a few minutes." and am yet to see it appear in the store (still seeing this message).
Does it usually take this long for a chrome extension to show up in the store?
When I click "View in Chrome Web Store" link in the new Developer Dashboard I get to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/************************/publish-accepted-testers?authuser=0&hl=en page:
But if I click on the extension name in the old Developer Dashboard I get to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/extension_name/****************** page where Add to Chrome button is active.
If you go to the webstore developer dashboard, you should be able to click on your extension, that will bring you to its webstore page. You can share this link before your extension gets listed, which often takes a few hours.
I ran into this issue, and needed to revert to the old developer dashboard (as #Winand mentioned) to get to the correct link in the web store. Here's a screen shot of how to opt out of the new Chrome Extension Developer Dashboard:
More info on the Chromium blog here: https://blog.chromium.org/2020/03/new-developer-dashboard-and.html.
close the the browser and restart it.If still getting prob then go and try again to the more tools and extension .Search it over there ,if enable then restart & use it.

Can't find the "Override requests with workspace project" in Chrome DevTools Canary

For the life of me I can't find where to enable this setting: Override requests with workspace project in Chrome Canary v64.0.3
Where do you enable this feature?
I learned about this feature from here: https://umaar.com/dev-tips/162-network-overrides/
Currently with 65 Chrome Canary it's not experimental anymore.
But you still cannot "Save for overrides" XHR requests.
This restriction is only in UI. To get XHR request override:
Open "Sources tab" in Chrome Canary DevTools and "Overrides" sub-tab under it.
Check "Enable Local Overrides" and add a folder to store changes in the filesystem.
Open "Network" tab in Chrome Canary DevTools and select XHR request
Press "Open in new tab"
Go to new opened tab Chrome DevTools - "Network"
Select the first request in the list and "Save for Overrides" button appears.
You can follow the gif from question starting step 5:
It's behind an experiment (https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/ui#experiments) then it'll be under experiments in the settings panel of devtools.
Please do be warned though, this is an experimental feature, there are bugs and it might not work as intended.
We are trying hard to get it fully released soon (on Canary) but it needs to be a 1st class feature before we will feel ready to release it.
I think they might have shipped the feature, so it's no longer behind an experiment.
Try the workflow that Umaar outlined, omitting the step about enabling the experiment.
Haven't tried it myself yet, so I could be wrong
The feature is no longer an experiment in Chrome Canary (current version at the time of this: 64.0.3261.0). You can start to use it now. It will take a little time to arrive in Chrome stable.
In the latest version of Chrome Canary (Version 65.0.3317.2) you still need to enable dev tool experiments. The option is still behind the experiment flag #kayce-basques . I also followed the tutorial of Umaar - also using GitHub for testing - but I don't get any visible website changes after pressing F5.
Has someone figured out how to get it to work?
(1) Select the Overrides Tab in the Sources Panel.
(2) Click the Setup Overrides ( + icon) to add an empty folder.
(3) Confirm that Enable Network Overrides are enabled.
(4) Select the js file to be persisted on the Network Tab and display the source code in the code editor.
(5) Add code “console.log (‘hello world’);” to the beginning of the source code.
(6) Right click on the source code, select command [Save for overrides] on the context menu.
(7) Reload the current page after saving the file.
(8) Open the Console Panel and check the result.
This feature is now enabled in chrome stable you can follow these step:
In chrome go to "Sources tab" then in devtools "Overrides" click "Enable Local Overrides" then create a folder to put the changes in the filesystem. Go to
"Network" then select XHR request then "Open in new tab" then go to new opened tab Chrome DevTools - "Network"
pick the first request in the list and normally you will have a "Save for Overrides" button appears.

Chrome emulator tab defaulted on refresh

With Chrome 32.0.1700.77 the new emulator tab is handy except it's the default tab when I refresh my page.
During my standard development workflow, I constantly refresh the page when I make changes. I usually have the console window open at the bottom of the network or source views. But every single time I refresh the page, the Emulators tab takes focus and I can't see the console.
This is truly annoying since the app will fail because of a simple JavaScript typo, but I can't see the console without clicking one more time (to focus the console tab).
Has anyone found a workaround for this?
Combined with the Chrome Developer Tools unresponsive since update 32.0.1700.76 m issue, I would have to say Google really tripped up this release.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a workaround yet. It looks like there has been a bug reported to Google as found on this thread, but no fix has come about yet.
I think the only way (right now) to prevent the console tab from being hidden when needed is to avoid using the emulator or revert to a previous version of Chrome.
Hopefully a fix comes soon!
It's been a while since this post was made, but I came across the same issue recently. When you have the developer toolbar open, the phone icon beside the "Elements" tab should be blue. Clicking that will disable Emulation.

Where is the new Emulation tab in Chromes console drawer?

I frequently use the overrides tab in Chrome Developer tools to emulate other device such IPhone and IPad, but after upgrading to last version (32.0.1700.76 m) everything in the overrides tab is gone and replaced by a checkbox saying "Show 'Emulation' view in console drawer".
Checking this checkbox does not enable a 'Emulation' view in the Console drawer. The "Show Console" button seems to be disabled.
See here for more information.
Before starting open the dev tools console (on a Mac cmd-option-i)
Open the Settings panel within the dev tools console (click gear icon on right side)
Check "Show 'Emulation' view in console drawer (looks like you have already done this step) and close screen
Switch to the sources tab of the dev tools console
Press Esc to bring up a screen that slides in from the bottom
Select the Emulation tab on that second screen
There is also a note in the link above stating:
Note: Emulation tools within DevTools were previously contained within
an Overrides pane inside the Settings panel. The Emulation panel is
the new Overrides pane.
After installing Chrome (or the bleeding edge version Chrome Canary) you should be able to do proper mobile emulation within Chrome's Developer Tools. I usually activate them by Right Clicking > Inspect Element
For visual learners like myself, I just included a full screenshot.
I'm running Google Chrome version 58.0.3029.110, where the Emulation is no longer available, but all of the features are still available:
Device & Screen
Press Ctl + shift + m or click on Toggle device toolbar, you'll find these in the upper middle of your browser tab. (You'll find more options in the More option section.)
User Agent & Sensors
User Agent is now renamed as Network Conditions and can be found in the Customise and control DevTools > More tools > Network conditions. Sensors can also be found in the same location (ie. Customise and control DevTools > More tools > Sensors).
"Show Emulation view in console drawer" message confusing.
Generally our chrome dev tool bar tab selected as a console tab or we try to find out in console tab.
Problem is , Console drawer will not opened when your console tab selected.
I seem to have solved it. When I upgraded to Chrome Canary (Version 34.0.1789.0 canary) the problem was solved.
http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/chrome/browser/canary.html
I run into this problem, and it took me a while to figure it out, despite the answers here. I am on Version 37.0.2062.103 m. First, in this version, there is no Override pane, neither "Show 'Emulation' view in console drawer either. It is turned on by default (I guess), but a little bit hidden. The key is to first press ESC key in dev mode (now I'm not sure if it's on by default). You should see a pane with 4 "tabs" including "Emulation" at the bottom. I quoted tabs because it appeared more like a status bar to me and I keep clicking it and nothing happens, until I accidentally resized the pane.
Sweet... This behaviour (running device emulation and debug mode) works in Chromium on Linux Ubuntu by hitting F12 and then the drawer icon. :)
