How to color a single Dojo button? - html

Is there a way to affect a single Dojo button's color? I want to be able to override the default button color for specific buttons. In the JSP markup I have a button defined like so:
<button class="jelam-button-blue" data-dojo-type="dijit/form/Button" data-dojo-id="usdotSearchButton" id="usdotSearchButton" type="button" onClick="csfController.usdotSearch()">Search</button>
where the "jelam-button-blue" is defined in our css file like so:
.jelam-button-blue {
background-color: #5494c7 !important;
background-image: none !important;
border: 1px solid #a6cdec !important;
border-radius: 0 !important;
color: #ffffff !important;
height: 38px;
}
.jelam-button-blue .dijitReset.dijitInline.dijitButtonText {
font-size: 16px;
font-weight: normal !important;
position: relative;
top: 2px;
}
This does not result in the button turning blue as I would like. The markup that gets generated from the button markup is:
<span role="presentation" class="dijit dijitReset dijitInline dijitButton" widgetid="usdotSearchButton">
<span role="presentation" data-dojo-attach-event="ondijitclick:__onClick" class="dijitReset dijitInline dijitButtonNode">
<span aria-labelledby="usdotSearchButton_label" role="button" data-dojo-attach-point="titleNode,focusNode" class="dijitReset dijitStretch dijitButtonContents" tabindex="0" id="usdotSearchButton" style="-moz-user-select: none;">
<span data-dojo-attach-point="iconNode" class="dijitReset dijitInline dijitIcon dijitNoIcon"></span>
<span class="dijitReset dijitToggleButtonIconChar">●</span>
<span data-dojo-attach-point="containerNode" id="usdotSearchButton_label" class="dijitReset dijitInline dijitButtonText">Search</span>
</span>
</span>
<input type="button" data-dojo-attach-point="valueNode" role="presentation" tabindex="-1" data-dojo-attach-event="onclick:_onClick" class="dijitOffScreen" value="">
</span>
and the generated markup doesn't include any reference to the "jelam-button-blue" class that I had specified.
I'm including the dojo module from my local theme, defining the dojoConfig variable before I include the dojo.js like so:
<script>
var dojoConfig = {
baseUrl: "/CompassThemesURS/themes/html/commonurs/",
async: false, // to support older pre-AMD IBM modules
tlmSiblingOfDojo: false,
packages: [
{ name: "gridx", location: "dojo/gridx-1.3.0" },
{ name: "dojo", location: "dojo/1.9.1/dojo" },
{ name: "dijit", location: "dojo/1.9.1/dijit" },
{ name: "dojox", location: "dojo/1.9.1/dojox" },
{ name: "commonjs", location: "js" }
]
};
</script>
<script src="/CompassThemesURS/themes/html/commonurs/dojo/1.9.1/dojo/dojo.js.uncompressed.js"
data-dojo-config="isDebug:true, parseOnLoad: false"></script>
Is there a way to turn just the designated button a specified color?
Thanks.

You have to update the dijitButtonNode color.
I Changed your css to:
.jelam-button-blue .dijitButtonNode {
background-color: #5494c7 !important;
background-image: none !important;
border: 1px solid #a6cdec !important;
border-radius: 0 !important;
color: #ffffff !important;
}

How to change styles for textarea placeholder which is controlled by the CodeMirror?

I am using the CodeMirror plugin with version 5.65.7 for my textarea in a web application based on Vuejs, and everything is working fine without any issues. I would like to add the placeholder to my textarea, so I have added the respective placeholder file to my application and can see the placeholder in my textarea.
I would like to change the font color of the placeholder and centre align it, so I tried to make some modifications to the codemirror styles, but for some reason it’s not working at all. Could you please tell me how to change the font colour and centre the placeholder for the CodeMirror-controlled textarea?
I looked at a similar question here: Placeholder font colour" and tried to do the same, but for some reason it’s not working.
I have created a sample project based on my real application to demonstrate the issue in CodeSandBox.
I tried to look into devtools and tried but it's not working as expected. Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong and provide some workaround?
Following is the code sample which is also available in CodeSandBox:
<template>
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-5 offset-md-1 mt-5 mr-2 mb-2 pt-2">
<textarea
id="jsonEvents"
ref="jsonEvents"
v-model="jsonEvents"
class="form-control"
placeholder="Document in JSON format"
spellcheck="false"
data-gramm="false"
/>
</div>
<div class="col-md-5 offset-md-1 mt-5 mr-2 mb-2 pt-2">
<textarea
id="xmlEvents"
ref="xmlEvents"
v-model="xmlEvents"
class="form-control"
placeholder="Document in XML format"
spellcheck="false"
data-gramm="false"
/>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
let CodeMirror = null;
if (typeof window !== "undefined" && typeof window.navigator !== "undefined") {
CodeMirror = require("codemirror");
require("codemirror/mode/xml/xml.js");
require("codemirror/mode/javascript/javascript.js");
require("codemirror/lib/codemirror.css");
require("codemirror/addon/lint/lint.js");
require("codemirror/addon/lint/lint.css");
require("codemirror/addon/lint/javascript-lint.js");
require("codemirror/addon/hint/javascript-hint.js");
require("codemirror/addon/display/placeholder.js");
}
export default {
name: "Converter",
components: {},
data() {
return {
xmlEvents: "",
jsonEvents: "",
xmlEditor: null,
jsonEditor: null,
};
},
mounted() {
// Make the XML textarea CodeMirror
this.xmlEditor = CodeMirror.fromTextArea(this.$refs.xmlEvents, {
mode: "application/xml",
beautify: { initialBeautify: true, autoBeautify: true },
lineNumbers: true,
indentWithTabs: true,
autofocus: true,
tabSize: 2,
gutters: ["CodeMirror-lint-markers"],
lint: true,
autoCloseBrackets: true,
autoCloseTags: true,
styleActiveLine: true,
styleActiveSelected: true,
});
// Set the height for the XML CodeMirror
this.xmlEditor.setSize(null, "75vh");
// Make the JSON textarea CodeMirror
this.jsonEditor = CodeMirror.fromTextArea(this.$refs.jsonEvents, {
mode: "applicaton/ld+json",
beautify: { initialBeautify: true, autoBeautify: true },
lineNumbers: true,
indentWithTabs: true,
autofocus: true,
tabSize: 2,
gutters: ["CodeMirror-lint-markers"],
autoCloseBrackets: true,
autoCloseTags: true,
styleActiveLine: true,
styleActiveSelected: true,
});
// Set the height for the JSON CodeMirror
this.jsonEditor.setSize(null, "75vh");
// Add the border for all the CodeMirror textarea
for (const s of document.getElementsByClassName("CodeMirror")) {
s.style.border = "1px solid black";
}
},
};
</script>
<style>
textarea {
height: 75vh;
white-space: nowrap;
resize: both;
border: 1px solid black;
}
.cm-editor .cm-placeholder {
color: red !important;
text-align: center;
line-height: 200px;
}
.CodeMirror-editor pre.CodeMirror-placeholder {
color: red !important;
text-align: center;
line-height: 200px;
}
.CodeMirror-editor .CodeMirror-placeholder {
color: red !important;
text-align: center;
line-height: 200px;
}
</style>
If possible Javascript can be used for this-
let placeholder_el = document.querySelectorAll('pre.CodeMirror-placeholder')[0];
placeholder_el.style['color'] = 'red';
placeholder_el.style['text-align'] = 'center';
placeholder_el.style['line-height'] = '200px';
Somehow I can't use your codesandbox without sigining in,
but you can try to use pseudoclasses like so:
textarea::placeholder {
color: red;
}
Refer to this documentation.
looking about CodeMirror i found this line using pseudo selector:
"&.cm-focused .cm-selectionBackground, ::selection": {
backgroundColor: "#074" },
on this link. so, i belive you can use in that way.
.CodeMirror .cm-s-default .cm-placeholder, ::placeholder{
color:blue;
text-align: center;
line-height: 120px;
}
in css you just need use a pseudo selector element with ::
#inp::placeholder{
color: lime;
text-align: center;
}
<input id="inp" placeholder="placeholder" />
you can see more here
css selectors
#NSL
I tried the following and it worked for me in Vuejs:
.CodeMirror pre.CodeMirror-placeholder{
color: #F1948A;
text-align: center;
line-height: 200px;
font-family:arial;
font-size: 1rem;
font-weight:400
}
If anyone is still facing issue with styles in Vuejs check for the scoped keyword. That creates sometimes issue so check regarding it and add it if you want or remove it.

How can I disable my submit button when a text area is left blank?

I am trying to make a submit button that is disabled when a text area is left blank, but alas I am not seeing results. If any advice could be spared it would be greatly appreciated. Here is the code that pertains to this problem. This submit button works as if it were not disabled, so I'm guessing there must be something wrong in my typescript or the way that I am constructing the disable in the first place, but I am getting to the point where I am running out of Ideas. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

min-height: 4rem !important
background: $secondary-background
display: flex
justify-content: space-between
position: fixed
bottom: 0px
right: 0px
&>div
display: flex
flex-direction: row
align-items: center
gap: 1rem
margin: 0 1rem
</style>
You can just check with Logical NOT (!) operator which takes truth to falsity and vice versa. Hence, If there will be no value in the textarea it will return false else true.
Working Demo :
new Vue({
el: '#app',
data: {
content: ''
}
})
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/vue/2.5.17/vue.js"></script>
<div id="app">
Textarea content: {{ content }}
<br><br>
<textarea v-model="content"></textarea>
<button id="submitButton" :disabled="!content.trim()">
<span>Submit</span>
</button>
</div>
I just added an example to show you how to achieve. You can made the changes in your original code.

How to manage responsive design in angular?

While clicking on the add button the static text and a text box is adding vertically.
How can I add this horizontally ?
How can I make this design responsive ?
For Desktop/Laptop : 4 in a row., Tablet: 3 in row and Mobile : 1 in a row.
Attached the HTML, Java script and css files. Please suggest.
var app = angular.module('angularjs-starter', []);
app.controller('MainCtrl', function($scope) {
$scope.choices = [{id: 'choice1'}, {id: 'choice2'}];
$scope.addNewChoice = function() {
var newItemNo = $scope.choices.length + 1;
$scope.choices.push({'id': 'choice' + newItemNo});
};
$scope.removeChoice = function() {
var lastItem = $scope.choices.length - 1;
$scope.choices.splice(lastItem);
};
});
fieldset {
background: #FCFCFC;
padding: 16px;
border: 1px solid #D5D5D5;
}
.addfields {
margin: 10px 0;
}
#choicesDisplay {
padding: 10px;
background: rgb(227, 250, 227);
border: 1px solid rgb(171, 239, 171);
color: rgb(9, 56, 9);
}
.remove {
background: #C76868;
color: #FFF;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 21px;
border: 0;
cursor: pointer;
display: inline-block;
padding: 4px 9px;
vertical-align: top;
line-height: 100%;
}
input[type="text"],
select {
padding: 5px;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.4.9/angular.min.js"></script>
<div ng-app="angularjs-starter" ng-controller="MainCtrl">
<fieldset data-ng-repeat="choice in choices">
<select>
<option>Mobile</option>
<option>Office</option>
<option>Home</option>
</select>
<input type="text" ng-model="choice.name" name="" placeholder="Enter mobile number">
<button class="remove" ng-show="$last" ng-click="removeChoice()">-</button>
</fieldset>
<button class="addfields" ng-click="addNewChoice()">Add fields</button>
<div id="choicesDisplay">
{{ choices }}
</div>
</div>
For making it responsive you should use Angular Material or Bootstrap
You can use Bootstrap grid (which can bug out in other way though since you won't have proper .rows when adding columns this way) or just use flexbox and code it manually as your requirements are really simple: https://css-tricks.com/dont-overthink-flexbox-grids/

Trouble with Button ng-click

I am facing something a little bit weird. Well, at least for my understanding.
Let me give you the snippet, so you can see what I am doing
var app = angular.module('riskQueries', []);
app.controller('cuitCtrl',function ($scope, $window) {
$scope.defaultCuit = '--Inserte su CUIT aquí--';
$scope.riskData = {
cuit: null
};
$scope.reset = function () {
$scope.riskData.cuit = angular.copy($scope.defaultCuit);
$window.alert('Hey! You clicked!');
};
$scope.reset();
$scope.comboData = {
planAnterior: null,
planSolicitado: null,
options: [
{id: 0, name: "No tengo un plan"},
{id: 1, name: "Plan Básico"},
{id: 2, name: "Plan Joven"},
{id: 3, name: "Plan Famliar"},
{id: 4, name: "Plan Cobertura Completa"},
{id: 5, name: "Plan Plus"}
],
};
});
app.filter('selectedPlan',function(){
return function(planSolicitado,planAnterior){
planAnterior <= planSolicitado;
};
});
input[type=text], select {
width: 100%;
padding: 12px 20px;
margin: 8px 0;

If you run it, you can see that an alert box defined in the function I've created for my button is getting activated without me having clicked it. I think this maybe has something to do with where I declare the ng-app and ng-controller, but failed to find something useful.
What am I missing here?
I'm assuming you're trying to call the reset() function, right? It seems you've called it right after declaring it on the controller.
$scope.reset = function () {
$scope.riskData.cuit = angular.copy($scope.defaultCuit);
$window.alert('Hey! You clicked!');
};
$scope.reset(); // <--- You're calling it here
$scope.comboData = {
Remove the $scope.reset(); line from your controller and you should be good to go :)

How to customize <input type="file">?

Is it possible to change the appearance of <input type="file">?
You can’t modify much about the input[type=file] control itself.
Since clicking a label element correctly paired with an input will activate/focus it, we can use a label to trigger the OS browse dialog.
Here is how you can do it…
label {
cursor: pointer;
/* Style as you please, it will become the visible UI component. */
}
#upload-photo {
opacity: 0;
position: absolute;
z-index: -1;
}
<label for="upload-photo">Browse...</label>
<input type="file" name="photo" id="upload-photo" />
The CSS for the form control will make it appear invisible and not take up space in the document layout, but will still exist so it can be activated via the label.
If you want to display the user’s chosen path after selection, you can listen for the change event with JavaScript and then read the path that the browser makes available to you (for security reasons it can lie to you about the exact path). A way to make it pretty for the end user is to simply use the base name of the path that is returned (so the user simply sees the chosen filename).
There is a great guide by Tympanus for styling this.
Something like that maybe?
<form>
<input id="fileinput" type="file" style="display:none;"/>
</form>
<button id="falseinput">El Cucaratcha, for example</button>
<span id="selected_filename">No file selected</span>
<script>
$(document).ready( function() {
$('#falseinput').click(function(){
$("#fileinput").click();
});
});
$('#fileinput').change(function() {
$('#selected_filename').text($('#fileinput')[0].files[0].name);
});
</script>
<label for="fusk">dsfdsfsd</label>
<input id="fusk" type="file" name="photo" style="display: none;">
why not? ^_^
See the example here
If you're using Bootstrap here is a better solution:
<label class="btn btn-default btn-file">
Browse <input type="file" style="display: none;" required>
</label>
For IE8 and below: https://www.abeautifulsite.net/posts/whipping-file-inputs-into-shape-with-bootstrap-3/#legacy-approach-(ie8-and-below)
Source: https://stackoverflow.com/a/18164555/625952
Easiest way..
<label>
Upload
<input type="file" style="visibility: hidden;"/>
</label>
The trick is hide the input and customize the label.
HTML:
<div class="inputfile-box">
<input type="file" id="file" class="inputfile" onchange='uploadFile(this)'>
<label for="file">
<span id="file-name" class="file-box"></span>
<span class="file-button">
<i class="fa fa-upload" aria-hidden="true"></i>
Select File
</span>
</label>
</div>
CSS:
.inputfile-box {
position: relative;
}
.inputfile {
display: none;
}
.container {
display: inline-block;
width: 100%;
}
.file-box {
display: inline-block;
width: 100%;
border: 1px solid;
padding: 5px 0px 5px 5px;
box-sizing: border-box;
height: calc(2rem - 2px);
}
.file-button {
background: red;
padding: 5px;
position: absolute;
border: 1px solid;
top: 0px;
right: 0px;
}
JS:
function uploadFile(target) {
document.getElementById("file-name").innerHTML = target.files[0].name;
}
You can check this example: https://jsfiddle.net/rjurado/hnf0zhy1/4/
In webkit you can try this out...
input[type="file"]::-webkit-file-upload-button{
/* style goes here */
}
first of all it's a container:
<div class="upload_file_container">
Select file!
<input type="file" name="photo" />
</div>
The second, it's a CSS style, if you want to real more customization, just keeping your eyes is open :)
.upload_file_container{
width:100px;
height:40px;
position:relative;
background(your img);
}
.upload_file_container input{
width:100px;
height:40px;
position:absolute;
left:0;
top:0;
cursor:pointer;
}
This example hasn't style for text inside the button, it depends on font-size, just correct the height and padding-top values for container
It's much better if you just use a <label>, hide the <input>, and customize the label.
HTML:
<input type="file" id="input">
<label for="input" id="label">Choose File</label>
CSS:
input#input{
display: none;
}
label#label{
/* Customize your label here */
}
Bootstrap example
<label className="btn btn-info btn-lg">
Upload
<input type="file" style="display: none" />

Here is a quick pure CSS workaround (works on chrome and has a FireFox fallback included), including the file name,a label and an custom upload button, does what it should - no need for JavaScript at all! 🎉
Note: ☝ anyways, I would not use it on a real world website - if browser compatibility is a thing to you (what it should be). So it's more kind of experimental, otherwise while time goes by, it could be that this isn't an issue today.

Here is one way which I like because it makes the input fill out the whole container. The trick is the "font-size: 100px", and it need to go with the "overflow: hidden" and the relative position.
<div id="upload-file-container" >
<input type="file" />
</div>
#upload-file-container {
width: 200px;
height: 50px;
position: relative;
border: dashed 1px black;
overflow: hidden;
}
#upload-file-container input[type="file"]
{
margin: 0;
opacity: 0;
font-size: 100px;
}
I went for this option which clarifies how to fully customize the browse button by including an handler of the uploaded file name, also customized.
It adds additional fields and client-side controls on them just to show how to include the browse in a "real" form, not just a standalone.
Here's the codepen: http://codepen.io/emiemi/pen/zxNXWR
JS:
//click on our custom btn triggers a click on the hidden actual file input
$("#btnup").click(function(){
$("#fileup").click();
});

$('#fileup').change(function(){

You can style them, but you can't remove the elements that are already there. If you're creative, you can work with that and do something like this:
input[type=file] {
-webkit-appearance: none;
-moz-appearance: none;
appearance: none;
background: #EEE;
background: linear-gradient(to top, #FFF, #DDD);
border: thin solid rgba(0,0,0, .5);
border-radius: .25em;
box-shadow: inset .25em .25em .25em rgba(255,255,255, .5), inset -.1em -.1em .1em rgba(0,0,0, 0.1);
cursor: text;
padding: .25em;
}
http://jsfiddle.net/zr1x1m2b/1/
I suggest you play around with this code, remove lines, add your own, do whatever until you get something that looks how you like!
Just style a normal button however you want, using your favorite CSS.
Then call a simple JS function to create and link a hidden input element to your styled button. Don't add browser-specific CSS to do the hiding part.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<style>
button {
width : 160px;
height : 30px;
font-size : 13px;
border : none;
text-align : center;
background-color : #444;
color : #6f0;
}
button:active {
background-color : #779;
}
</style>
<button id="upload">Styled upload button!</button>
<script>
function Upload_On_Click(id, handler) {
var hidden_input = null;
document.getElementById(id).onclick = function() {hidden_input.click();}
function setup_hidden_input() {
hidden_input && hidden_input.parentNode.removeChild(hidden_input);
hidden_input = document.createElement("input");
hidden_input.setAttribute("type", "file");
hidden_input.style.visibility = "hidden";
document.querySelector("body").appendChild(hidden_input);
hidden_input.onchange = function() {
handler(hidden_input.files[0]);
setup_hidden_input();
};
}
setup_hidden_input();
}
Upload_On_Click("upload", function(file) {
console.log("GOT FILE: " + file.name);
});
</script>
Notice how the above code re-links it after every time the user chooses a file. This is important because "onchange" is only called if the user changes the filename. But you probably want to get the file every time the user provides it.
For more details, research DropZone and gmail uploads.
Here is one way I recently discovered, with a bit of jQuery
HTML Code:
<form action="">
<input type="file" name="file_upload" style="display:none" id="myFile">
<a onclick="fileUpload()"> Upload a file </a>
</form>
For the javascript/jQuery part :
<script>
function fileUpload() {
$("#myFile").click();
}
</script>
In this example, I have put an "anchor" tag to trigger the file upload. You can replace with anything you want, just remember to put the "onclick" attribute with the proper function.
Hope this helps!
P.S. : Do not forget to include jQuery from CDN or any other source
