Install msql in Mac Osx - mysql

so I'm trying to use mysql as my database in sails js instead of mongodb, and I'm currently having a hard time configuring / installing it.
So basically what I did was in my app folder I typed
npm install sails-mysql
then I fixed all my configuration for sails js and I'm having a 500(E_UNKNOWN) error when I open my application or I open a page that connects to mysql. It seems that I have not mysql running and installed. So following this, http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-macosx-excerpt/5.5/en/macosx-installation-pkg.html I installed mysql. Now, I can't seem to locate mysql on my computer to start it. I know that it should be in /usr/local/bin but when I open it using the terminal
open -a Finder /usr/local/bin
the mysql installation directory is not there. Is there anything that I'm missing? Or should I just install MAMP?

Install Dreamfactory on Xampp

I have been trying to install Dreamfactory on Xampp but can't find a single article on how to do so.
Purpose: To generate REST API in php with mysql.
What I have tried:
Initially I installed windows version of
Dreamfactory from official site. It was installed successfully but it don't allow access to MYSQL database in free version. Paid version is out of my budget, so I tried with Xampp. I downloaded open-source version from
Github. After extracting it, executed php artisan serve in xampp command shell as mentioned on Dreamfactory Wikipedia Installation guide. This resulted in following error:
Warning: require(D:\xampp\htdocs\sandbox\dreamfactory\public/../vendor/autoload.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\xampp\htdocs\sandbox\dreamfactory\public\index.php on line 24
Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required 'D:\xampp\htdocs\sandbox\dreamfactory\public/../vendor/autoload.php' (include_path='D:\xampp\php\PEAR') in D:\xampp\htdocs\sandbox\dreamfactory\public\index.php on line 24
As mentioned in Git documentation, they have given installation procedures for Ubuntu and Debian. Further more, they have mentioned about Bitnami official installation software, but non for XAMPP or stuff like that.
Question:
Is there any way we can install Dreamfactory on XAMPP? If yes, how so!
I'd venture it's going to be fairly difficult task to run DreamFactory on XAMPP because DreamFactory requires quite a few dependencies which are not installed on XAMPP by default.
Your best bet would be to run the Bitnami for DreamFactory environment, or alternatively use Docker. Both can be downloaded from the DreamFactory website downloads page. Alternatively, if you'd like to run DreamFactory in a VM, the OSS download README points to automated installers for Debian and Ubuntu. Additional installers for CentOS and Fedora are found here, they work great however we just haven't moved them into the official distribution yet.

How do I setup a visual MySQL client if I already have MySQL installed in my system?

I have downloaded the MySQL from the following link:
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/
Downloaded the version 8.0.0. I have OS X 10.10.5
Now, I suppose I need to configure a visual MySQL client on my laptop to write queries. For that, I have installed sequelpro (sequelpro.com).
I need help on following points:
- Since there are a number of sample databases which one can use to learn SQL, can you please guide me on few such databases. My objective is to learn advanced SQL.
- Also, how do I configure my client (sequelpro) to connect to that database so that I can run queries.
As of now, I am stuck with the following screenshot with no clue what to do next.
Thanks a lot. Screenshot here
Based on the fact you said in the comments you have OSX and you installed mysql manually without phpmyadmin I suggest you download and install mamp.
mamp
1: https://www.mamp.info/en/ is,
MAMP installs a local server environment in a matter of seconds on
your computer. It comes free of charge, and is easily installed. MAMP
will not compromise any existing Apache installation already running
on your system. You can install Apache, PHP and MySQL without starting
a script or having to change any configuration files! Furthermore, if
MAMP is no longer needed, just delete the MAMP folder and everything
returns to its original state (i.e. MAMP does not modify any of the
"normal" system).
Basically it is a fake server that runs on your computer. This will be yours for localhost development. You can use it to serve your localhost php applications, change versions of php and gives you a GUI for mysql which is phpmyadmin.
Once you install mamp
you might need to configure mamp to use the mamp mysql but most likley it will work out of the box. If you do run into any problems make sure you stop the instance of mysql you installed already before running mamp then trying to ran mamp again and it should be using the correct version.

How to install mysql udf in windows WAMP

How to install MySQL udf in WAMP. I am using this https://code.google.com/p/mysql-udf-http/ It have instruction for Linux but not for windows, How do I install it in MySQL in WAMP. Install Navicat on Linux Ubuntu 12.04

How do I install Navicat on Ubuntu Desktop 12.04?
I have just configured a new Ubuntu 12.04. Because I'm not so familiar with the command line, I prefer to use Ubuntu Desktop so that I can have a GUI. Now I need to install a front-end to connect with MySQL.
I prefer to use Navicat in a MAC environment, so I was hoping to install Navicat on the Ubuntu machine. I downloaded a Linux copy of Navicat for MySQL from here:
http://www.navicat.com/download/navicat-for-mysql
The problem I am having is that I don't know how to install the program after it has been downloaded. There is a navicat.exe file in the navicat folder, but that seems to be for a DOS/Windows environment.
I just can't figure out how to install Navicat onto Ubuntu Desktop 12.04. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
You need to download Linux version of Navicat
And per online manual
Installation for Download Version
Open or Save the gzip file.
Extract the file into anywhere you wish.
Open the unziped folder.
Double-click start_navicat to start your
Navicat. Please note that it would take a while for starting-up.
A Registration screen will then be popup, key in the Registration Key
(16 digit) and click Activate to online activate the key.
UPDATE:
if you're on 64-bit box install all 32bit libraries
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
install wine runtime environment
sudo apt-get install wine

Need Help Installing MySQL

I have downloaded and stalled the MySQL server 5.5 version via .DMG on my Mac.
But I am confused as to what to do next. I have the preference settings bundle and it says that the MySQL server is running. But do I need to download a client separately? I'm trying to access MySQl in terminal to create an account or login but nothing is working.
You need to use the full path to mysql (/var/lib/mysql), or add the mysql directory to your $PATH var.
If you're trying to install LAMP environment on your mac, try a complete solution, such as MAMP (http://www.mamp.info/en/index.html) or XAMP.
These tools are bundled with phpmyadmin, which makes mysql administration easy
