How to make a horizontally scrolling panel or carousel? - html

I'm looking for something similar like this on steam (horizontal scrolling, if mouse hover it stops):
Just like this

The feature is called a carousel and you can find many samples on the Internet. (here and here)
Carousels, commonly also referred to as “slide shows” or “sliders”, display a series of content items one at a time; for example, a series of news headlines. Carousels often use animations to move from slide to slide which can be distracting for some users. They may also move so fast automatically that their content is hard or impossible to grasp, which is why every carousel should have a function to pause the animation.

Bootstrap collapse animations disabled - when loading webpage at work

This is quite an unusual one, and I had no luck googling this issue.
Short version - I've created a basic webpage for my work, to streamline some tools into one place, which works differently when I open it at work, compared to when I open it at home.
Details - When I've designed it at home, I'm using a lot of hide/unhide content (bootstrap4 collapse buttons), which unveil content with a nice simple sliding animation, as does the carousel at the top with various images sliding across- However when I open the webpage at my place of work, the smooth slide animations are disabled (it literally just makes this appear and disappear, and the carousel just flicks between the images, rather than slides).
Could this be related to work corporation firewalls blocking certain bootstrap sources? Has anyone else ever had something like this, and hopefully solved?
Also - I know I could just do this via JS, but I just wanted to query this all the same as it's a very odd issue.

Polymer swipe left or right to show new page

I am trying to learn polymer by building my own mobile app. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to create introduction pages like the "What's New" part of the android app "Today Calender" by Jack Underwood. Is there a way to do that with Polymer's built in elements? It's basically 3 pages you can swipe through. The page follows your finger if you release your finger past a certain point it will gently snap to the next page.
The swipe-pages custom element does exactly this. Swipe to navigate between pages, the pages start moving the moment you drag them horizontally, but only change pages if you drag past a set threshold.
Update:
This package is for Polymer 0.5 and does not yet work on Polymer 1.0
I made three CodePens while I was learning jQuery, so the code is a bit crude.
The first one works on a loop which allows for infinite scrolling.
The second one doesn't work in a loop.
The third one uses vertical slides, but you might wish to employ the bubble navigator. How they work is quite intuitive, but if you need any clarification feel free to shout out.
Here are all the CodePens:

Swiping without a

Slide and Show Navigation

What is that Navigation style that is implemented in 75% of all WP7 apps such as email, Images ,where you slide left and right, and as you do, you can see half of one page and half of the other, as one page fades out and the other fades , as if somehow all pages where one big circular roll. Here i was used pivot control for swipe images one by one.
I have tried the slide transition, but it definitely does a jagged approach when sliding out of one and sliding into the other, and you don't see the two merged together.how to solve these issue.
What you are looking for is a Panorama page or a page with a Pivot control.

Animated Section Indicator using <ul> like twitter bootstrap

I am using twitter bootstrap and has a very long page that I divide into multiple sections.
I'd like to implement a Section Indicator on top left of the screen that always shows where the reader is currently reading, like the screenshot below:
I managed to get the layout correctly as shown here:
However, I've got some problems that I've been working for a few weeks but still can't solved:
How to mark the current section dynamically as the user scroll
How to animate the movement of the arrow from the source to the next (or directly to the destination if the reader click a farther away rather than scrolling)
I've tried with the simpler version from getbootstrap.com/components but still to no avail... Please help... this is very stressful as I'm particularly weak in javascript and css :(
EDIT:
To summarize the answer:
Take a look at this library:
https://github.com/davist11/jQuery-One-Page-Nav.git
For a single-page website have a look at the One Page Navigation Plugin http://trevordavis.net/blog/jquery-one-page-navigation-plugin. It assigns a css-class to the current menu item upon clicking and as the user scrolls down the page.

On a high-level, how would I build a carousel for images?

Can you explain to me, at a very high level, what I would need to build an image carousel for the web, please. You can use data structures and general computer science terminology - but nothing language specific.
E.g:
Store all the images in an array or linked list
When the carousel is loaded, resize the displayed images as X% window size
When the next button is pressed, imageA moves to a hidden html element.
Et cetera.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks.
You don't want anything language specific but you want to know about carousels on the web and you've tagged this with 'html' and 'css' so I'm going to assume that I can talk about HTML and CSS but I'll try to keep it high level.
If we ignore Flash, then you're left with HTML + CSS + Javascript. The common way to do this is to arrange the images or their thumbnails (don't resize via HTML - its doesn't look good and can increase your page load time) in HTML elements that are themselves contained in one or more layers of wrapping elements. So the whole set of images strung together might be wider than the viewing window. CSS is used to manage their exact layout and to keep them from overflowing the viewing window. When I say window, I just mean the portion of the page in which you want the carousel to appear. Then Javascript is used to change the CSS properties of one of the HTML elements that is wrapping the images, causing it to scroll or shift position.
With HTML5, you have more options, but the above is the way things have usually been done until now.
Finally, if you are going to actually implement this, there are a number of scripts available that will probably meet your needs, but if not I highly recommend using a Javascript framework like JQuery - it will make things much, much easier.
If you want to build it by yourself, one straightforward way would be to have a master div and all the images in it, lined up horizontally. Have the overflow set to hidden on the master div. Then use javascript and set scrollLeft as the user clicks the next, previous buttons.
