I installed the Xamarin studio for windows which is a bundle of MonoDevelop and GTK#. I double click and nothing happens.
First thing, this is the log from the IDE.
Second thing, Bug 10558 Is the same problem but unfortunately post dates back to 2013 which about version 4.0. The fix they mentioned which is updated MonoDevelop.Core.dll file did not work.
3rd thing, GTK# bin directory is added to the environment variable, a couple of posts on the internet says that something wrong with "Win32 DLL search path", unfortunately no steps to help.
4th thing, I tried Xamarin universal installer but I press continue and nothing happens.
Update: I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with .NET Framework 4.0 installed.
Update 2: It used to work with me before. I don't know what has changed after I formatted my PC few months ago. I found this link on Bug 10558 which might be helpful but I did not understand it. Also found this patch which I didn't know how to apply it.
Any help is appreciated.
The exception you meet, is a typical one when running binaries compiled against .NET 4.5 on a .NET 4.0 only system.
Microsoft did move some key types between assemblies, which led to such exceptions, and there is no way to fix that except upgrading your system to .NET 4.5.
For Xamarin/Mono guys, they should modify the installer to inform end users about this change. They should also update web pages, such as this MonoDevelop page, which still says 4.0 is enough (no, 4.5 is required),

I have a Mac and use parallels to access Windows 11. I am trying to download MySQL, and everything successfully downloaded except for the Workbench. It fails to install every time with the error, "The processor is not adequate for running MySQL Workbench 8.0 CE."
I have tried googling and searching through forums and videos, and cannot find this exact error, and have tried using solutions from similar workbench issues.
I have tried uninstalling the program, and reinstalling, as well as restarting Windows and the computer as a whole. I have downloaded Visual Code 2022, 2019, and 2017 in hopes that one of these would work, but none did. I also added the development C++ add on to Visual Code like some people suggested, and that did not help. I also have downloaded the 2017 Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 (version 15.9) and tried to "repair" it. Still did not work, still get the same error. Also, I have already downloaded NET framework 4.5, so that is not the problem either.
I don't know where else to look, or what other resources to try and was wondering if anyone had any ideas or knows to how to solve this issue. Thank you for any help!
Windows on ARM emulation isn't good enough to trick the MySQL Workbench installer into thinking that it's running on an Intel CPU, so the installation fails.
Fortunately, this is fixable with some degree of effort - you have to patch the MSI file. There's likely other ways to do the patch, but here's how I did it using Orca:
Install the Visual Studio 2022 ARM preview and include the tools needed for C++ development. This will get the Windows SDK installed.
Run the Orca installer that's bundled with the Windows SDK (it will be put somewhere like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\bin\WINDOWS SDK VERSION\x86\Orca-x86_en-us.msi")
Download the MySQL Workbench .msi installer from https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/. Do not use the MySQL Installer that handles everything - you want the dedicated installer that handles just Workbench.
Right click the downloaded .msi, choose "Show More Options" and then "Edit with Orca"
Open the "LaunchCondition" table in the left hand list.
In the right hand side, there will be a row saying "Intel >= 5". Right click it and select "Drop Row" to remove the CPU check.
File > Save As and save your modified .MSI file.
You can now run the modified .MSI file and it'll install Workbench just fine on your Windows 11 on ARM environment. It works great in Parallels on my M2 MacBook Air!
your Mac silicon is M1?
M1 not support, intel is ok
I have VS 2015 RTM on Windows 10 RTM, suddenly (maybe an update) is causing today that any project 8.1 Universal can't be deployed anymore, not emulator, not device. I have confirmed it happens with any new project or existing one.
This does not happen with 8.1 Silverlight projects! which is even more strange. I have reinstalled VS 2015 and the latest cumulative Windows Update for IE and the problem persists.
EDIT: It also happens when trying to create app packages for the project but this time crashes VS!
Have any one came into this lately? Any ideas?
UPDATE: I get - An unhandled exception of type 'System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException' occurred in WindowsBase.dll
when debugging the crash when creating packages, but can't find more information
I've found that VS2015 hides some errors (not sure why or how). When it happens, try open VS2013 (if that is an option for you) and build there. It'll correctly tell you what the error is, and once you fix it you can return to 2015.
Got it! I uninstalled the Apache Cordova tools and the problem is gone magically, don't know what conflict may these tools cause with the 8.1 SDK but sure has to be investigated.
I am trying to run a Silverlight 8.1 WP application through the Windows App Certification Kit and I get an error stating that the file is not a valid .xap file. I'm not sure why it is happening and not finding much about it other than one article that hints at a manifest issue. I am however able to take a dummy Silverlight 8.1 app and Certify that without error (it fails of course, but no error). The actual error is:
Failed to unpack 'xap file'. The file does not appear to be a valid xap package.
Does anyone out there know why this can happen or at least where in the manifest I might start looking?
The answer to this turned out to be an issue with the Microsoft SDK I was using. The way I figured this out is by attempting to upload the .xap file to the store even though I got that very vague error because I was still able to side load the application, so I knew to some degree the .xap file was valid. I got the following error.
The last two errors (2001) gave me more to go on, so I did some research and came across this SO post which pointed to an issue with the Advertising SDK. It turns out that the SDK I was using was adding 2 entries for some reason instead of telling me it was the wrong SDK. I used the one that came with VS 2013 Update 1, but for Silverlight, you need to use the one located here under Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight Apps
After installing this package (make sure it is 8.1 and not 8.0), I referenced that SDK and all was well again.
Hope this helps someone else with this issue
For anybody else with similar problem, executing WACK on its own (not through VS command) runs smoothly.
This article explains how to correct an exception that's often seen when switching an ASP.NET application to .NET 4.0. However, I don't have this option in IIS when using Windows 7 Home Premium. Does this mean the option isn't there at all, or is it just not visible? If it doesn't exist in the GUI, is this being set in the Windows Registry somewhere? I want to be able to correct this exception without upgrading Windows. Is this even possible?

I 'm working on an application using rad studio 2009 (c++) and mySQL. I want to build a setup so I can set up my application and on other PCs without installing and rad studio. As far as I 've searched, I will need some dlls. Does anyone know what dlls? I couldn't find out...
please help!
For C++ Builder if you don't use runtime packages and you link against the static RTL then you don't need to supply anything beyond the compiled .exe.
I couldn't say what you need for the database connection, but I imagine it is documented and Johan has provided you with an answer that addresses this part of your question.
Dependency Walker can be used to investigate the dependencies.
You need libmySQL.dll
and if you're using dbExpress you'll also need: dbxmys.dll
If you're using ZEOS you'll only need the libMySQL.dll, but AFAIK only ZEOS 7 alpha works in Unicode Delphi/C++ Builder
Be careful to make sure libMySQL.dll is is the exact version that goes with the MySQL server you are connecting against.
