Windows Phone 8.0 control app image when in background - windows-phone-8

Is there a way to control what the WP8.0 app screen looks like when in background task. I mean when cycling over the apps after a long press on back button ?
I'm using a custom Prism, and I tried to set a different background from OnNavigatedFrom but it seems that the page is already unbound at this moment because this has no effect on the page.

Styling Windows Phone 8.1/WinRT AppBarButton

I'm currently looking to implement a CommandBar for a WinRT Windows Phone 8.1 app. Overall it is very straightforward but I am unable to style the control.
I have themed my app so that the accent colour has been changed to green. This works well for pretty much everywhere in the app (buttons, textblocks etc.) but not for the AppBarButton.
The brushes I'm overriding are SystemColorControlAccentBrush and PhoneAccentBrush but changing these does not make any difference to the colour of the AppBarButton when pressed:
Any idea what I'm doing wrong/can this colour be changed?
Set the CommandBar's foreground and background colors.
The command bar on Windows Phone is system UI not app UI and does not allow customizing the colors of individual AppBarButtons. Their colors always come from the CommandBar's colors.
try changing app bar button color
<AppBarButton x:Uid="SendMessageButton" Icon="Send" Foreground="" Background="" Command="{Binding SendMessageCommand}" IsEnabled="{Binding IsSendMessageButtonEnabled}"/>
or change in code behind
AppBarButton app = new AppBarButton();
app.Foreground="";
app.Background="";

Is a "close" icon necessary in other platforms?

In iOS, one doesn't need to add a close icon for an app. In the rare event that one wants to kill an app they can do it via the OS.
When looking at the cocos2d-x project that is created by default when using the console (v3.1.1), the sample HelloWorld scene places a button on screen to "close" the app.
Is this actually required in ANY platform ? Does it make sense to add this button at all ?
Apple usually rejects on this and Google and Microsoft don't like it.
You can, however, have close buttons on menus or popovers (say, like a pause screen).

Inconsistent default button behavior in WP8.1 Universal versus Silverlight 8.1 / Windows 8.1 / earlier

Why is the default button visual behavior on click different in Windows Phone 8.1 "universal" apps? Is there some way to restore it to the behavior consistent with all other versions of Windows Phone/Windows 8 or do I need to create a new custom control?
Windows Phone 7/8/8.1 Silverlight/Windows 8.1: Button background flashes a complementary color based on theme, button stays fixed.
Windows Phone 8.1 "universal": Button background doesn't change color, tilt effect is applied to the button displacing it based on where the user has touched it.
I'm a beginner developer with some experience in developing WP7/WP8 apps, trying to make my first universal app for WP8.1/Windows 8.1. I verified this behavior in VS2013 Update 2 RC with a new Windows Store App, new WP8.1 Silverlight app, new WP8.1 universal app and one of my existing WP8 apps by just creating a new button object in xaml. Appreciate any help!
In my own test, the button does change color to the PhoneAccentBrush resource.
But if you want to remove the tilt effect, you should just edit the style of the button. Since you claim to be a beginner, I'll explain how to easily change the style using VS2013. Maybe you don't know this yet.
Right-click your Button in the designer, goto Edit Template... on the menu, then select Edit a Copy...
This will generate the standard button style in your xaml which you can edit. FYI, this will change your document outline to the button style outline. (See Document Outline window in VS2013.) To go back to the page outline, click the up arrow icon at the top of the outline.
Anyways, find the < VisualState x:Name="Pressed"/ > line and then comment out the PointerDownThemeAnimation line.
Done!

How to give widget look to the application developed using tide sdk

"There are two types of transparency in TideSDK. Full window transparency specified with the transparency property and background transparency specified with the transparent-background property."
Look at the example at the very bottom of this page

Android application on Tizen

I am working on Tizen. Developing an application on Tizen which has been already developed by me on Android.
I have to place an image in the background.and then place button on it. Click on that button and receive its action in javascript.
How can I place image in the background.
Is their any way to transfer android application on Tizen platform.
Can we make our android application on Tizen?
background-image in CSS can do it.
E.g. put mesh_background_1280x720.jpg into images directory than fix your style.css:
body {
background-image: url("../images/mesh_background_1280x720.jpg");
}
For me this works.
You can do it by using Jquery Mobile.
.ui-icon-myapp-custom {
background: url("settings.png") no-repeat rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4) !important;
}
in HTML,
<a href="#user_info" data-role="button" data-theme="b" data-iconpos="right" data-icon="myapp-custom" >
Custom Icon
</a>
For detail, check

Currently there is no support in Tizen SDK to convert Android app to Tizen. But there is a way. A company Open Mobile developed ACL(Application Compatible Layer) for tizen. If you have Android app, you can submit it to them, they can convert it for Tizen. All application credit will be name on you. They will get a amount from samsung. Search ACL in Tizen store, you will find several application under ACL.
I can tell you how to do this using Tizen Native (WYSIWYG). If you are seeking a code based answer, then ignore this. HOWEVER, for those trying to learn and navigate within Tizen Studio this is very helpful!
Start Tizen Studio
File/New Tizen Project
Template / Next
Mobile / Next
Native Application / Next
UI Builder Single View (Bottom Left) / Next
In the Project Explorer (Top Left) open the tree to Layout / Layout.xml (Double click to open the Layout).
Choose Design Tab (Center)
In Palette , UI Container (just to right of center)
Drag "Grid" from the Palette onto your screen
In Properties Tab (far right or turn on: Window/ Show View/ Other/ choose properties OK)
Change Col Count to 720 and Row Count to 1280
Drag "Grid" from the Palette onto your screen
Now you should see more (22) UI Components
Drag "Background" from the Palette onto your screen
If it does not automatically resize (Hello BUG) then do the following. Drag to a little LARGER then your screen size (assuming HD, Look into this I think this is REQUIRED by the Tizen Store).
With Background highlighted, again go to Properties Tab, bottom Variation Attributes make:
Left 0, Top 0, Width 720, Height 1280. The first few times it will give you trouble until you figure out that the BG resized window can't go higher than the BLUE TOP and the window should be larger on the bottom, until you manually type in the CORRECT SIZE as shown above.
Now go to or open your Resource Tab (just drag and drop files here from Windows Explorer) and find your background image that you already RESIZED CORRECTLY in Adobe PS and used SAVE FOR WEB to reduce jpg file size.
Drag onto Background "layer" on your Screen.
For a button you can:
Drag "BUTTON" from UI components onto Background OR BETTER is to drag "IMAGE" from UI components onto Background...
Then drag and drop (PRE-MADE BUTTON from Adobe PS) image from the Resource Manager Tab onto the empty image place holder. You will have to resize it manually in the Properties Tab to get the correct proportions.
REPEAT for more Images and Buttons and Text since the built in text "Label" is horrible to say the least. You can always make any of these do Button Actions.
This is as far as I have come, now I need to learn how to program said buttons and actions.
Whew! This will save you many weeks!
Wish I had found a step by step like this!
Now where to post this?
