Help please I can't start the sql database server in xampp. This was after upgrading to os x Yosemite. This is the error message I get for phpmyadmin:

The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured).
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.
Thank you so much!
Here is the command I tried in terminal (which I got from another person on stack overflow who seemed to have a similar problem):
sudo /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/mysql.server start
Here was the error message:

For all of you to know I ended up doing a fresh reinstall of xampp. It now works fine! Here was what I did:
backup files and database (if possible)
quit 'manager os x'
run the uninstaller
delete the xampp folder
download xampp from the site
Run the installer for xampp
run security program in terminal
move your stuff back to the xampp folder
All in all I found that xampp (1.8.3-5) is compatible with OS X Yosemite.

I am running xampp on Windows 10. I've never had such an issue with my other websites running on XAMPP. To break down the issue, I am installing clean wordpress I am importing my website with a plugin called All in one WP migration. Once the migration is done I have access to the wp-admin part of the website but when I try to open the website I receive this error:
12:48:26 PM [mysql] Error: MySQL shutdown unexpectedly.
12:48:26 PM [mysql] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
12:48:26 PM [mysql] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.

As a reference all the other wordpress insllations I have, run perfect and I have no problem opening the websites. When I open phpmyadmin I see this error:
#1932 - Table 'phpmyadmin.pma__userconfig' doesn't exist in engine
I have tried all the listed solutions in this thread: MySQL error - #1932 - Table 'phpmyadmin.pma user config' doesn't exist in engine
Unfortunately none of them seems to work for me and MySQL still crashing. Is there something else I can try.
When I open the respective database I have in phpmyadmin I see these errors as well

I have installed 2 XAMPP in my Local Computer 1st XAMPP with PHP 5.6.40 and 2nd XAMPP with PHP 7.4.1 by following this tutorial Starting Multiple MySQL Instances as Windows Services, i named my MySQL service on 1st XAMPP as mysqld1 and on 2nd XAMPP as mysqld2.
I have set my MySQL port on 1st XAMPP with 3308 and the 2nd with 3307.
The 2nd MySQL working beautifully, whereas the 1st MySQL resulting errors
I ran my 1st MySQL Service from Run->service.msg. And then i got following errors:
Windows could not start the mysqld service on Local Computer.
ERROR 1067: The Process Terminated Unexpectedly.:
The Error Message.
MySQL on 1st XAMPP was running:
MySQL on 1st XAMPP was running.
If i delete ibdata1, ib_logfile1 and ib_logfile0 while MySQL on 1st XAMPP was turning off, the mysqld service would start, but MySQL on 1st XAMPP would give the Following errors instead :
14:10:22 [mysql] Error: MySQL shutdown unexpectedly.
14:10:22 [mysql] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
14:10:22 [mysql] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.

14:10:22 [mysql] If you need more help, copy and post this
14:10:22 [mysql] entire log window on the forums
Vice versa.
I have checked my path either on both of my.ini files or mysqld services path, i think everything is set correctly. And also i have checked for the port (3308) using netstat -an, the port number is listening.
I have searched answers from previous questions here but haven't met the answer yet.
How to solve the issue so i will have 2 XAMPP applications with differ PHP and MySQL versions on my local computer (Laptop) ?
I have no idea how to fix this.

I am trying to reset a lost root#localhost password, as explained in this question.
Adding the line skip-grant-tables directly underneath [wampmysqld]/[mysqld] is a well known way to gain access in order to reset passwords, but in my case this not doing anything.
After making sure that MySQL is not running, editing the file, restarting it and opening the MySQL Console, a password prompt appears, so I am stuck.
What could I possibly be overlooking?
My stack is WAMP 2.5, with MySQL 5.6.17.
My my.ini file looks like this:

You can just start the server with skip-grant-tables from the command line:
mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &
If you're doing it just to reset the root password, go for /etc/mysql/my.cnf and add the
[mysqld]
skip-grant-tables
there. This one works.
I usually don't ask questions on this, but I'm beating my head against the wall with this one. I am trying to setup WAMP to work with Dropbox. I've used both these tutorials (http://mymediamagnet.com/how-to-setup-wamp-with-dropbox/ and http://abhisheksachan.blogspot.com/2012/08/web-development-environment-made-easy.html) as they both tell me the same thing.
The httpd.conf settings that you make in Apache have worked great. All my files in my new www folder are respected and are shared across multiple computers in Dropbox. But my setup to make the database files be stored in Dropbox don't seem to be respected.
I have edited the my.ini file to contain the right Dropbox mysql folder in datadir. I have copied everything from here: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.6.17\data to this new Dropbox mysql folder. But everytime I open phpmyadmin, and add or remove databases, it does it in the old wamp folder: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.6.17\data.
I find this my.ini file here: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.6.17 so I know it's the one that WAMP should be using. I've tried troubleshooting by deleting it completely, screwing up all the data in the file, but mysql just keeps on working and looking at the old database folder.
So my only thought was that this configuration file is not being respected. There are some instructions at the top that I don't completely understand about this being an example file but everywhere I look says that this is what wamp looks at. So now I'm lost and don't why it's not working.
Please help. Here is my entire my.ini file as I'm sure the key is somewhere in there.

There was a little bug with the 64bit WAMPServer in version 2.5
Change this in your 64bit my.ini
From
# The MySQL server
[wampmysqld]
To
# The MySQL server
[wampmysqld64]
This section header must match the service name that MySQL server runs under, and on the 64bit WAMPServer it was changed to wampmysqld64, but this section header was forgotten about.
NOTE: You dont need to run 64bit WAMPServer just because your OS is Windows 64bit.
In fact the 64bit PHP is not yet a complete port and is still considered 'Experimental'
Also quite a few PHP Extensions are not converted to 64bit yet as well, so it is better to stay ywith the 32bit WampServer ( Apache/MySQL/PHP ) unless you have some very specific need to use the 64bit version.
I'm experimenting with netbeans and Java for a weekend project, and I'm having a hard time trying to get netbeans to connect to my local mysql server.
Here's the contents of my.cnf:

The answer to this question recomments using a version of MySQL connector for java downloaded from the mysql website which I did with no luck, I've tried stopping the server anddeleting /var/lib/mysql and re-installing it with no luck either. A post on the NetBeans forums with no results.
I can connect to the server using MySQL Workbench, so I know my settings work which makes me think the issue is with NetBeans, but I'm not sure, can someone please point me in the right directon? Thank you for your time and consideration.
I don't know why, but for some reason adding the commands to start and stop the mysql daemon seemed fix the issue.
I got the same issue but after spending hours on the internet, I finally figured it out. If I ran both the XAMP containing MYSQL and Netbeans IDE, Everything runs fine. Though it's weird that my username has the admin rights. But everything's working great now so all is good. Hope it might help people in future.
