I have read all the topics on this problem. I just installed FF 31 and all the sites that I was viewing got zoomed and distorted.
My question is - how can I stop firefox from using the default Windows-related zoom settings that break the layout.
Press Ctrl + 0 // zoom to normal

I'd like to be able to resize my screen to larger than 9999. Is this possible in modern browsers?
Sure you can, if your desktop is big enough:
Here's a photo of this very StackOverflow post, in Chrome, on Windows, that's 11,234px wide:
(Yes, I'm just showing-off at this point)
Proof via window.innerWidth:

I have a problem with my PDF reader on google chrome. When I open a PDF file, then it appear and fail few second after. I made a video to illustrate. Any one already had this problem ? Could it be mac computor ? I've got a MacBook pro from 2011. But on safari it works well, so it should be a problem with Chrome (and it's very recent in the sense that I have this problem since 2 weeks).
It's a known Chrome bug described at https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=870404.
You can add a star to that issue to be notified of the fix.

About a week ago Chrome suddenly changed the way it displays html5 audio (and video) volume controls: now I can only mute/unmute, but there is no volume slider anymore. Can I somehow change it back?

Chrome (v53) displays the full URL in the address bar if it is https, but not if it is http.
How do I fix this?
e.g. This page displays as
stackoverflow.com/questions/ask
Copy/paste does collect the full URL:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask
The display of the "http://" has been removed a few version back. It doesn't look like they will be adding that in again any time soon.
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=41467
It has a status of
Status: WontFix
looks like it's here to stay.

That or looking at the source of the page (depending on the method they block it with) or inspecting elements. It's all on your computer, you just need to disable some scripts to make them more manageable.
