How to add Subtle Hover Effect on my website - html

I hope is someone here who can help me find out how should I add the Subtle Hover Effect from this tutorial. I've tried everything, I added the .grid, I have .component imported from css. On my website I have the following HTML
<div class="sixteen columns">
<h4 class="headline">Recent Work</h4>
</div>
<div class="grid">
<figure class="effect-romeo">
<img src="images/5.jpg" alt="img05"/>
<figcaption>
<h2>Wild <span>Romeo</span></h2>
<p>Romeo never knows what he wants. He seemed to be very cross about something.</p>
View more
</figcaption>
</figure>
<figure class="effect-romeo">
<img src="images/5.jpg" alt="img05"/>
<figcaption>
<h2>Wild <span>Romeo</span></h2>
<p>Romeo never knows what he wants. He seemed to be very cross about something.</p>
View more
</figcaption>
</figure>
<figure class="effect-romeo">
<img src="images/5.jpg" alt="img05"/>
<figcaption>
<h2>Wild <span>Romeo</span></h2>
<p>Romeo never knows what he wants. He seemed to be very cross about something.</p>
View more
</figcaption>
</figure>
</div>
<div class="clearfix"></div>
and CSS
figure.effect-romeo {
-webkit-perspective: 1000px;
perspective: 1000px;
}
figure.effect-romeo img {
-webkit-transition: opacity 0.35s, -webkit-transform 0.35s;
transition: opacity 0.35s, transform 0.35s;
-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,0,300px);
transform: translate3d(0,0,300px);
}
figure.effect-romeo:hover img {
opacity: 0.6;
-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,0,0);
transform: translate3d(0,0,0);
}
figure.effect-romeo figcaption::before,
figure.effect-romeo figcaption::after {
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
width: 80%;
height: 1px;
background: #fff;
content: '';
-webkit-transition: opacity 0.35s, -webkit-transform 0.35s;
transition: opacity 0.35s, transform 0.35s;
-webkit-transform: translate3d(-50%,-50%,0);
transform: translate3d(-50%,-50%,0);
}
figure.effect-romeo:hover figcaption::before {
opacity: 0.5;
-webkit-transform: translate3d(-50%,-50%,0) rotate(45deg);
transform: translate3d(-50%,-50%,0) rotate(45deg);
}
figure.effect-romeo:hover figcaption::after {
opacity: 0.5;
-webkit-transform: translate3d(-50%,-50%,0) rotate(-45deg);
transform: translate3d(-50%,-50%,0) rotate(-45deg);
}
figure.effect-romeo h2,
figure.effect-romeo p {
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
-webkit-transition: -webkit-transform 0.35s;
transition: transform 0.35s;
}
figure.effect-romeo h2 {
-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,-150%,0);
transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,-150%,0);
}
figure.effect-romeo p {
padding: 0.25em 2em;
-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,150%,0);
transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,150%,0);
}
figure.effect-romeo:hover h2 {
-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,-100%,0);
transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,-100%,0);
}
figure.effect-romeo:hover p {
-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,100%,0);
transform: translate3d(0,-50%,0) translate3d(0,100%,0);
}
But the hover effect are strange, it works bad. The images are just 50 % from the original img presented on tutorial.
Hope someone can told me what I should add or remove.
Your answers would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

I am trying to have a text slide up with an overlay but the problem that the overlay is sliding up with the text together what i really want is the overlay to be zoom in effect with the image and the text slide up here is an exemple that i am working on and i still can't achieve it.

You could add a pseudo to the container, in that way the background "is there" and does its job of fading in when needed. That way the text is its own entity and you are free to style both just the way you want it. I added
.client-container::after
.client-container:hover::after
and removed the background-color on the first fig caption.
.clients {

.client-container {

I'm having some trouble understanding what it is you're trying to accomplish. What I think you want is that when a client hovers over the image that there is a small zoom and that some text comes slide-upwards. But you don't want them to see the overlay right?
If that's the case just keep your code the same but change background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.6);to background-color: transparent;.

Image moves on hover when apply an opacity and transform

I have applied an effect to the image and when I hover over it it moves very strange, it is a move very small but I don't like it, also the text over the image moves when the mouse is out from the image.
This is my code, as you can see is a very imperceptible, but looks strange.
I also would like to make the images responsive when I change resolution, but I would like to have a height like 150px and make the image centered or crop it to the height.

Image transform rotate not rotating

I am trying to get an image of an X I have to rotate 180 degrees when it is being hovered over, however it is just moving up and to the right instead of rotating.
What am I doing wrong that this won't look like it is spinning 180 degrees?
.black {
background: #000;
width: 100%;
height: 400px;
}
.popup-close {
position: absolute;
top: 40px;
right: 40px;
}
#x-close:hover {
-webkit-transform: translate(50%, -50%) rotate(180deg);
transform: translate(50%, -50%) rotate(180deg);
}
<div class="black">
<a class="popup-close" data-popup-close="popup-1" href="#">
<img src="http://optimumwebdesigns.com/icons/delete-cross.png" alt="" height="40px" width="40px" id="x-close">
</a>
</div>
The cross moves up (and to the right) because of the translate transform that you are adding when it is being hovered. I believe you are adding this to center the element and in that case, it is better that it is added to the default state of the element itself.
The rotate is actually happening but you aren't seing it because a 180deg rotate of a cross gives the same output. You can add a transition to see the rotation (or) change the rotation angle.
.black {
background: #000;
width: 100%;
height: 400px;
}
.popup-close {
position: absolute;
top: 40px;
right: 40px;
}
#x-close {
transform: translate(50%, -50%);
transition: transform 1s ease;
}
#x-close:hover {
-webkit-transform: translate(50%, -50%) rotate(180deg);
transform: translate(50%, -50%) rotate(180deg);
}
<div class="black">
<a class="popup-close" data-popup-close="popup-1" href="#">
<img src="http://optimumwebdesigns.com/icons/delete-cross.png" alt="" height="40px" width="40px" id="x-close">
</a>
</div>
Working Demo
add this is css in your code:
#x-close{
-webkit-transition: -webkit-transform .8s ease-in-out;
transition: transform .8s ease-in-out;
-webkit-transform: translate(50%, -50%);
transform: translate(50%, -50%) ;
}
Here is my solution
#-webkit-keyframes spin {
100% { -webkit-transform: rotate(180deg); }
}
#-moz-keyframes spin {
100% { -moz-transform: rotate(180deg); }
}
#keyframes spin {
100% {
-moz-transform:rotate(180deg);
-o-transform:rotate(180deg);
transform:rotate(180deg);
}
}
https://jsfiddle.net/hk2ums6p/
This should do it :
#x-close:hover {
-webkit-transform: rotate(180deg);
transform: rotate(180deg);
-webkit-transition: transform 0.5s ease;
transition: transform 0.5s ease;
}

CSS hover won't work in Chrome

I'm making a 3d box so I need most elements absolutely positioned. Front side is img, side is an empty div at the moment. Third div is a caption div, over the image with opacity of 0. I made simple hover effect to change this opacity to 1, it's working fine in FF, but not in Chrome.
I've seen that there are some bugs when using hover on absolute positioned elements in Chrome, but as I've understood, those occur only on elements with z-index, maybe I'm mistaken. Anyhow, here's the box code, I could really use some help figuring this one out, as I'm not able to pinpoint the problem Chrome is having.
HTML:
<div class="image-wrap">
<div class="image">
<img src="img/unyield.jpg" class="image-front">
<div class="image-caption">
<span class="caption-content">Unyielding sense</span><br/>
<span class="caption-one">cover artwork</span><br/>
<span class="read-more">INFO</div>
<div class="image-side"></div>
</div>
</div>
CSS BOX:
.image-wrap {
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 5%;
margin-top: -225px;
width: 360px;
height: 550px;
perspective: 1000px;
-ms-perspective: 1000px;
-moz-perspective: 1000px;
-webkit-perspective: 1000px;
-o-perspective: 1000px;
}
.image {
position: absolute;
width: 360px;
height: 550px;
transform-style: preserve-3d;
-ms-transform-style: preserve-3d;
-moz-transform-style: preserve-3d;
-webkit-transform-style: preserve-3d;
-o-transform-style: preserve-3d;
transform: translateZ(-130px);
-ms-transform: translateZ(-130px);
-moz-transform: translateZ(-130px);
-webkit-transform: translateZ(-130px);
-o-transform: translateZ(-130px);
transition: all 1s ease;
-ms-transition: all 1s ease;
-moz-transition: all 1s ease;
-webkit-transition: all 1s ease;
-o-transition: all 1s ease;
}
.image-front, .image-side {
position: absolute;
width: 360px;
height: 550px;
backface-visibility: hidden;
-webkit-backface-visibility: hidden;
}
.image-front {
transform: translateZ(180px);
-ms-transform: translateZ(180px);
-moz-transform: translateZ(180px);
-webkit-transform: translateZ(180px);
-o-transform: translateZ(180px);
}
.image-side {
transform: rotateY(90deg) translateZ(180px);
-ms-transform: rotateY(90deg) translateZ(180px);
-moz-transform: rotateY(90deg) translateZ(180px);
-webkit-transform: rotateY(90deg) translateZ(180px);
-o-transform: rotateY(90deg) translateZ(180px);
border: 1px solid #B8B5B5;
background-color: green;
}
And the problematic caption CSS:
.image-caption {
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 30%;
opacity: 0;
background-color: black;
color: white;
text-align: center;
padding-top: 25px;
transition: all 0.3s ease;
-ms-transition: all 0.3s ease;
-moz-transition: all 0.3s ease;
-webkit-transition: all 0.3s ease;
-o-transition: all 0.3s ease;
}
.image:hover .image-caption{
opacity: 0.8;
}
this is giving problems px use deg
.image-front {
transform: translateZ(180px);
-ms-transform: translateZ(180px);
-moz-transform: translateZ(180px);
-webkit-transform: translateZ(180px);
-o-transform: translateZ(180px);
}
