Windows Phone 8 data transfer on between pages - windows-phone-8

I am trying to transfer data on between pages. And I am writting below code. PivotPage.xaml.cs code;
if (Convert.ToDouble(PhoneApplicationService.Current.State["futbol"]) != null)
futbol = Convert.ToDouble(PhoneApplicationService.Current.State["futbol"]);
else
futbol = 0.0;
User can select or not select "futbol". If selected "futbol" not problem. But If not selected "futbol" give an error.
Error: An exception of type 'System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException' occurred in mscorlib.ni.dll but was not handled in user code
Additional information: The given key was not present in the dictionary.
How can I using "Current.State" or another function?
Thanks in advance. (sorry my language)

You need to check if the "futbol" is present in the State collection.
futbol = PhoneApplicationService.Current.State.ContainsKey("futbol")
? Convert.ToDouble(PhoneApplicationService.Current.State["futbol"])
: 0.0;
Also, feel free to read this article on different ways of storing data on Windows Phone 8

(Microsoft Dynamics Online) Get Account GUID inside embedded Web Resource

I'm trying to access entities (Contacts) in a HTML WebResource inside an Account formular in Microsoft Dynamics. However I cannot figure out how to get the record GUID (accountId) from the PageContext. It tells me the entityId is undefined.
I'm trying to replace this deprechated code line:
const accountId = parent.Xrm.Page.data.entity.getId();
I've been trying to use
const pageContext = window.parent.Xrm.Utility.getPageContext();
but the attributes are almost all null or undefined including the entityId. All it tells me is that I'm in an account record. See image. https://imgur.com/a/oeA1SOz
Thanks for any help
Yes is possible, you were close in your second attempt.
This will return the id:
var id = parent.Xrm.Utility.getPageContext().input.entityId.replace("{", '').replace("}", '');
From Microsoft docs:
Pass parameters to HTML web resources

Web Matrix, Data Types, User Registration

I am using WebMatrix to create a table in my user database.
My tutorial says to use the BOOLEAN data type for the field that determines whether or not the user's registration is active, because it allows the field to be true or false. BOOLEAN is not an option.
What can I use instead to achieve the same result?
Please feel free to ask for clarification. Any help is much appreciated. Even suggestions for other tutorials on creating a user registration / member system would be great. Thank you!
The answer you are looking for is "bit" and the default value is 0 (zero) this will be interpreted as false by MS SQL Server 2012. To say it another way the "bool" value in Webmatrix equates to a "bit" value in MS SQL Server 2012.
// on the webmatrix side of things
Int UserID = 0; // the users id (usually int)
bool allowed = false;
// the database needs at least 2 fields
int UserID;
bit Allowed;
var db = Database.Open("TheDatabase");
// don't forget to set this up in your web.config file.
var TestRecord = db.QuerySingle("SELECT * FROM webpages_Membership WHERE UserID=#0", UserID );
allowed TestRecord.Allowed;
db.close();
This is just a ruff sketch of how to accomplish this... hope it helps

Username with System.User

Today I wanted to greet the user in my app by name, but I did not manage to get it.
I found System.User, but lacking some examples I did not manage to get the info I needed. I saw no possibility to get the current user (id) to call User.GetFromId().
Can you guide me into the right direction? Have I been on the wrong path?
Okay, So first things first, getting access to a user's personal information is a privilege you have to request, so in your store app's Package.appxmanifest, you'll need to enable the User Account Information capability in the Capabilities tab.
Next, you'll want to be using the Windows.System.User class, not the System.User (System.User isn't available to Windows store apps, which you appear to be discussing given the tags you provided for your question)
Third, you'll want to request personal information like this.
IReadOnlyList<User> users = await User.FindAllAsync(UserType.LocalUser, UserAuthenticationStatus.LocallyAuthenticated);
User user = users.FirstOrDefault();
if (user != null)
{
String[] desiredProperties = new String[]
{
KnownUserProperties.FirstName,
KnownUserProperties.LastName,
KnownUserProperties.ProviderName,
KnownUserProperties.AccountName,
KnownUserProperties.GuestHost,
KnownUserProperties.PrincipalName,
KnownUserProperties.DomainName,
KnownUserProperties.SessionInitiationProtocolUri,
};
IPropertySet values = await user.GetPropertiesAsync(desiredProperties);
foreach (String property in desiredProperties)
{
string result;
result = property + ": " + values[property] + "\n";
System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(result);
}
}
When you call GetPropertiesAsync, your user will get a permission prompt from the system asking them if they want to give you access to that. If they answer 'No', you'll get an empty user object (but you'll still get a unique token you can use to distinguish that user if they use the app again).
If they answer yes, you'll be able to get access to the properties below, and various others.
See the UserInfo Sample Microsoft provided for more examples.

Why am I getting "Invalid Cast" when using Linq to SQL?

I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to Linq to SQL but I hope you can help out. I've written the following Linq to SQL statement with Extension Methods:
Cedb.ClassEvents.Where(c => c.ClassID == 1).Select(c => c).Single()
Where Cedb is the Datacontext, ClassEvents is a table (for classes and events being held at a facility) and ClassID is a unique integer key.
This query runs fine in LinqPad (without Cedb). When it returns, it says that the return type is "ClassEvent". In Intellisense in Visual studio, it tells me that the return type of this query is ClassEvent (created in my data model). However, when I try to place the results in a variable:
var classEvent = Cedc.ClassEvents.Where(c.ClassID == 1).Select(c => c).Single();
then I get an error: InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid. The same thing happens if I use the "ClassEvent" class in place of the var. I'm new to this but this one seems like a true slam dunk rather than a bug. Is there something about the Single method that I don't know that is leading to the error? Any help would be appreciated!
Slace - and any other interested parties. The cause of the "Invalid Cast Exception" error was a change in the underlying data model. A smallint field had been changed to bit. Thus, when the system tried to map the query results onto the "ClassEvent" data structure, the conflict between the model (which had not been updated) and the data table emerged.
Nonetheless, I do appreciate the answer!
You don't need to do both a Select and a Single, in fact, you don't even need the Where, you can get away with (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb535118.aspx):
var classEvent = Cedc.ClassEvents.Single(c => c.ClassID == 1);
I'd also recommend against using Single unless you're 100% sure that the Func<T, bool> will always return a value, as if it doesn't return a value you will have an exception thrown. Better is using SingleOrDefault and doing a null check before interaction with the object (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb549274.aspx)

Linq 2 SQL on shared host

I recently ran into an issue with linq on a shared host.
The host is Shared Intellect and they support v3.5 of the framework. However, I am uncertain to whether they have SP1 installed. My suspicion is that they do not.
I have a simple News table that has the following structure:
NewsID uniqueidentifier
Title nvarchar(250)
Introduction nvarchar(1000)
Article ntext
DateEntered datetime (default getdate())
IsPublic bit (default true)
My goal is to display the 3 most recent records from this table. I initially went the D&D method (I know, I know) and created a linq data-source and was unable to find a way to limit the results the way I desired, so I removed that and wrote the following:
var dc = new NewsDataContext();
var news = from a in dc.News
where a.IsPublic == true
orderby a.DateEntered descending
select new { a.NewsID, a.Introduction };
lstNews.DataSource = news.Take(3);
lstNews.DataBind();
This worked perfectly on my local machine.
However, when I uploaded everything to the shared host, I recieved the following error:
.Read_<>f__AnonymousType0`2
(System.Data.Linq.SqlClient.Implementation.ObjectMaterializer`1<System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader>)
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.MethodAccessException:
.Read_<>f__AnonymousType0`2
(System.Data.Linq.SqlClient.Implementation.ObjectMaterializer`1<System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader>)
I tried to search the error on Google, but met with no success. I then tried to modify my query in every way I could imagine, removing various combinations of the where/orderby parameters as well as limiting my query to a single column and even removing the Take command.
My Question therefore comes in 3 parts:
Has anyone else encountered this and if so, is there a "quick" fix?
Is there a way to use the datasource to limit the rows?
Is there some way to determine what version of the framework the shared host is running short of emailing them directly (which I have done and am awaiting an answer)
System.MethodAccessException is thrown by the framework when it is missing an assembly, or one of the references are of the wrong version.
The first thing I would do is try uploading and referencing your code to the LINQ assemblies in your BIN, instead of the shared hosting providers GAC.
