Simple code not working in chrome - html

This is not working in google chrome. Any idea why?
<html>
<head>
<style type="css/text">
#wrapper{display:none}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div id="wrapper" >
This is a test this is a test
</div>
</body>
</html>

css/text should be text/css.
<style type="text/css">
In HTML5, however, a style element's type will default to "text/css" if it isn't specified, so depending on which browsers you're supporting you could drop it altogether.

Style tag should be:
<style type="text/css">
Or even better, remove it!
<style>

you should change
<style type="css/text"> to <style type="text/css">

it's text/css not the other way around. :P

remove this attribute:
type="css/text"

Following code will work.
<style type="text/css">
#wrapper{display:none}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div id="wrapper" >
This is a test this is a test
</div>
</body>

Why <style type="text/css"> works and why <style type="css"> does not work here?

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css" >
body { background-color:#003;}
</style>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
The above code changes body color to blue.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style type="css" >
body { background-color:#003;}
</style>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
When I repeat the same with <style type = "css"> the body color doesn't changes. Why?
text/css is the registered MIME type for CSS.
css is not a valid MIME type at all.
Since the browser doesn't recognise the MIME type css, it doesn't know which stylesheet engine it should use, so it ignores the stylesheet entirely.
Because css isn't a valid type.
From https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/style:
This attribute defines the styling language as a MIME type (charset
should not
be specified). This attribute is optional and defaults to text/css if it is not
specified — there is very little reason to include this in modern web
documents.

I can't find out what is wrong with my background

So I want to set the file wallpaper.png as the backgound of the page, the image is in the same folder with the html and css files.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheethome" href="stylesheethome.css"/>
<title>Prism</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
And the css:
body {
background-image: url("wallpaper.png");
}
the problemi is with this-
rel="stylesheethome
change it to--
stylesheet... hope this works..
After changing it is working I tried it.
Your body is empty, that's the same for zero pixel height. You can try like this:
html, body {
height: 100%;
}
Good luck.
Try to set stylesheet for rel in your <link> and check your file names.
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="stylesheethome.css" />
Try this. I changed the rel attribute value from stylesheethome to stylesheet.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="stylesheethome.css"/>
<title>Prism</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
stylesheethome is not a valid rel attribute value.
Hope this helps.

CSS can't operate

I have one problem: I have simple HTML code and CSS code, but the CSS doesn't work... Please, can you told me, when I have something wrong?:

I want to change "submit" button appearance. Please help.
You can use:
<style type="text/css">
instead of:
<style type="css">
Also, you just need one <body> tag and you're missing open " for background value:
<body background="http://i.imgur.com/0TugbQI.png"link="#CDA221" vlink="lime" alink="#CDA221">
<!-- ------------^ Missing " here -->
as well as closing your <style> tag using </style>
<style type="css"> is inconsistent across browsers!!
do it this way
<style media="screen" type="text/css">
/* css styles*/
</style>
or simply :
<style>
/* css styles*/
</style>
you haven't closed your <style> tag too!! :)
Merge the two tags to one
<body link="#CDA221" vlink="lime" alink="#CDA221" background=http://i.imgur.com/0TugbQI.png">
Use "text/css" instead of "css"
Put the <style> tag into the <head> tag.

Html css not working correctly

For some odd reason when I try styling this html page with a backround in css nothing appears.
Any Ideas on how to fix
-Thanks
<html>
<body>
<title>Test</title>
<b><font color="#F91212"><center>Test</center></font></b>
<br><b><center><font color="#FF0000">Have Fun!</font></center></b></br>
<br><b><font color="#FF0000"><center>Join now for free by clicking here </center></font></b></br>
<br><center><img src="test.jpg"></img></center></br>
<style>
body {background-color:#b0c4de;}
</style>
</body>
</html>
It should look something like this (notice I moved the style tag within the head tag):
<head>
<style>
body{
background-color:#color;
}
</style>
<head>
Why is your style tag in your <body> tag? It should be in the <head> tag:
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">body { background-color: red; }</style>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
Or even better, put your css in a separate .css file.
First of all that's not how css works or how html works. You should put your style tags in html head section. And you should determine html element where you want to set background-color.
<html>
<head>
<style>
body {
background-color:#b0c4de;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<title>Test</title>
<b><font color="#F91212"><center>Test</center></font></b>
<br><b><center><font color="#FF0000">Have Fun!</font></center></b></br>
<br><b><font color="#FF0000"><center>Join now for free by clicking here </center></font></b></br>
<br><center><img src="test.jpg"></img></center></br>
</body>
</html>
Usually the syntax is like so:
<html>
<head>
<style>
body { background: #121212; }
</style>
</head>
</html>
With the style tag in the head tag.
You will want to move your <style> tag inside of your <head> tag.
Try this code:
CODE
<style>
body {
background-color:#b0c4de;
}
</style>
<body>
<b><font color="#F91212"><center>Test</center></font></b>
<br><b><center><font color="#FF0000">Have Fun!</font></center></b></br>
<br><b><font color="#FF0000"><center>Join now for free by clicking here </center></font></b></br>
<br><center><img src="test.jpg"></img></center></br>
</body>

"body {background-color}" works in HTML but not in CSS

Am able to set the background-color attribute for HTML body in an inline <style> command
but not when the identical command is moved to an external stylesheet. A specific example
is given below.
In test1.html, background-color is set to "blue: in the HTML. File test2.html is identical to test1.html except the <style> command is commented out. File style.css contains a spec for background-color and also for the <H1> element (to test that the browser really is
reading the stylesheet).
First test produces orange text against a blue background. Second test produces orange
text, but against a white background. I've tried this on Firefox 21, Chrome 19, and
IE 9; all give the same results.
What's going on? Any help would be appreciated.
Here are the three sample files:
test1.html:
<HTML>
<head> <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
<style type="text/css">
body {background-color: blue}
</style>
</head>
<body> <h1>This is a test.</h1> </body> </html>
test2.html:
<HTML>
<head> <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
<!-- <style type="text/css">
body {background-color: blue}
</style> -->
</head>
<body> <h1>This is a test.</h1> </body> </html>
style.css:
<style type="text/css">
body {background-color: green;}
h1 {color: orange; }
</style>
Thank you!
don't use <style type="text/css"></style> in style.css
<style type="text/css"></style>
is html tags, and you shouldnt have them in your .css file,
replace the code within style.css with this. Just copy and paste.
body {background-color: green;}
h1 {color: orange; }
