Exclude weekends from calculated-field date using expression-builder MS Access - ms-access

i have two fields in my access db table. One contains dates [D] and the other contains numbers [N]. I have created a calculated field that stores ( [D] - [N] ) dates.
my problem is that i would like to exclude weekends from the dates stored in the calculated field and cant seem to find how to do this from expression builder... is there a way to this? or is there any other way? thanks

Assuming the [d] column contains a date and [n] is a number of days then a calculated column may look something like :-
=IIf(Weekday(DateAdd("d",[n]*-1,[d])) In (7,1),"",DateAdd("d",[n]*-1,[d]))
Notes :
(7,1) on my system Saturday is 7 and Sunday is 1 - this can be
changed by altering the DateAdd function
You may wish to replace the
"" with NULL
I have assumed [n] is a positive number so using the *-1 to go backwords in days.

Sql search Result between two dates

i have a table name expected expense in which i have 4 columns name Expense_title, Amount, expense_category, date and all the 4 columns have var char type. When I try to find expense between two dates it work fine for same year, e.g. 11/27/2018 and 12/27/2018, but it doesn't get any result when I try to find expense between two years, e.g. 12/27/2018 And 01/27/2019. please help

SELECT *
from expected_expense
WHERE Date BETWEEN '$start_date' AND '$end_date'
As per the comments, this is because of the varchar type.
The between operator is nothing different than doing two closed inequalities for its range limits. In your example,
between 12/27/2018 And 01/27/2019
will be changed internally to
>= 12/27/2018 and <= 01/27/2019
but these are not dates, they are text. And the second one is less than the first, so nothing will be returned. It's like asking the question: which letter comes after q but before b? None.
Either change the fields to datetime, or use conversion functions in your query.

SQL Query to get data between two weeks?

I have a week column with week numbers as w0, w1, w2.... I am trying to get last last six weeks data. Here's the sql query I am using.
SELECT * FROM week
WHERE uid = '9df984da-4318-1035-9589-493e89385fad'
AND report_week BETWEEN `'w52' AND 'w5'`;
'w52' is essentially week 52 in December 2015 and 'w5' is Jan 2016. The 'between' seems to not work. Whats the best way to get data from the above two weeks?
Here's the CREATE TABLE statement:
CREATE TABLE `week` (`uid` VARCHAR(255) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
`report_week` VARCHAR(7) NOT NULL,
`report_files_active` BIGINT DEFAULT NULL);
Essentially this table is getting populated from other table which has date column. It uses dates from other table and summarizes weekly data into this.

BETWEEN 'a' and 'b' actually matches to columnValue >='a' and columnValue <= 'b'
In your case w52 is greater than w5 due to lexicographic ordering of Strings - this means that the BETWEEN clause will never return a true (think about it as equivalent to saying BETWEEN 10 and 1 instead of BETWEEN 1 and 10.
Edit to my response:
Refrain from storing the week value as a string. Instead here are a couple of approaches in order of their preference:
Have a timestamp column. You can easily then use MySQL query
facilities to extract the week information out of this. For a
reference see this post.
Maintain two columns - YEAR, WEEKNO where YEAR will store values
like 2015, 2016 etc and WEEKNO will store the week number.
This way you can query data for any week in any year.
please show me table structure and DB name because it different for other, if it is any timestamp then we can use BETWEEN 'systemdate' AND 'systemdate-6'

SSRS Sum Values Based on Earliest Date

I'm trying to sum a net balance based on the earliest date in an SSRS report. In this case there are only 2 dates, but there can be more dates not more than 7 days.
Here's a sample of my data:

I've tried the following code, but not able to get this to work:
=Sum(IIf(DateDiff("d",Fields!SettleFullDate.Value,today())>=7
and DateDiff("d", Fields!SettleFullDate.Value, today())<7
and Fields!SETTLEBALANCE.Value>0), Fields!SETTLEBALANCE.Value, 0)
Update: I tried the code below and keep getting an error on the report. Could it be that I need to change the date field to an integer?

To compare the sum of values of two dates, the maximum and minimum in a set you can use the following equation
=Sum(iif(Fields!myDate.Value = Max(Fields!myDate.Value), Fields!myVal.Value, 0))
-Sum(iif(Fields!myDate.Value = MIN(Fields!myDate.Value), Fields!myVal.Value, 0))
This Sums all the values that match the maximum date in the dataset together, and sums all the values that match the minimum date in the dataset together, and takes one from the other.
It is irrespective of which dates you ask to be received, the above approach will work only against the records that you return to SSRS. So if you have a filter (WHERE clause) to return records between Date1 and Date2 this will still apply (Note - don't actually use 'Between' in the query)
Rather than using the maximum and minimum dates as listed here, you could also calculate a date similar to your original approach using
dateadd("d", -7, Fields!MySpecificDate.Value)
And insert that to the expression above.
Hopefully this is what you require - if not please let me know.

mysql date direct subtraction

I have a two date columns, dateA and dateB. If I subtract dateA from dateB (dateB - dateA), I get wrong results but not using DATEDIFF(dateB,dateA)function. I get wrong result from direct subtraction when used in a table with data but not with below query.
SELECT DATE('2013-01-31') - DATE('2013-01-27')
Why?

I found that in MySQL if the two dates are within a month then direct subtraction gives correct result but if the dates span month, year there might be a problem.
Am I right?
Presumably, you columns are not stored as dates, but as strings. If they were stored as dates, then subtraction would work as expected.
When you subtract two strings, such as:
SELECT '2013-01-31' - '2013-01-27'
Then MySQL converts them to numbers, based on the leading digits. In this case, both start with the numbers 2013, so both are converted to 2013 (if there were no digits at the beginning then the value would be 0). These numbers are then subtracted.
Are your column's defined as date, or as Varchars? Because Date as a String means nothing. When you do a DATE('2013-01-31'), it creates a date object and hence the subtraction works. So, if your column is defined as Varchar, do DATE(dateB) - DATE(dateA).

MySQL - Find date ranges matching a list of months

I have several rows in a table, each containing a start date and an end date. The user has a checkbox for each month of the year. I need to determine which rows contain a date range that includes any of the user's chosen months.
It's easy to check the start & end months by, for example, MONTH(start_date) IN ($month_list), but this approach won't match any months between the two dates.
So I suppose what I'm asking is: is there a way of obtaining the inclusive months from a date range purely in SQL?
I assume you would want to include data rows where the date range spans or intersects with the selected periods - in which case, I'd shove the user selected periods into a table and do a fuzzy join, something like.....
SELECT DISTINCT at.*
FROM a_table at, user_periods up
WHERE at.start_date<=up.end_date
AND at.end_date>=up.start_date
AND up.trans_id=$SOME_VAR
(the trans_id just allows the table to be used for multiple operations)
To minimise the effort here, the user_periods table should have an index on start_date and end_date, and similar for a_table.
Can something like this help?

MONTH() > MONTH_YOU_ARE_CHECKING
If you need to check all at once you can do a list of all the months and after delete from the list the month that the user choose, and after compare against the list. It will be better with a pseudocode example :)
MONTHS = 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12
USER_SELECTED_MONTHS= 1,6,8,9,12
LIST_TO CHECK = 2,3,4,5,7,10,11
so, now you can do:
MONTH(start_date) NOT IN (2,3,4,5,7,10,11)
