I run MySQL 5.6 since month and everything went well. Also the MySQL Workbench 6.
I receive two errors if I would like to see the "Server Status".
1st error:
Could not acquire management access for admionistration
RuntimeError: Unable to execute comand chcp. Please make shure that
C:\Windows\System32 directory is in your PATH environment variable.
I checked the windows path variable within Win7 and there exist an entry c:\windows\system32
2nd error:
Unable exception: Current profile has no WMI enable
Any ideas?
To resolve the issue, simply click on Manage Server Instances under Server Administration column and close the screen again.
Now click on the instance again, check if the issue is fixed or report any bug.
I thought your MYSQl Service is not yet start.
Please Follow the below steps It works me like a charm.
windows + R - Type services.msc Press 'Enter' you could see many services . There is a service called MYSQl56 service if it's Disabled please Start that Service then once again restart the workbench.
For those who are still facing issue, add "C:\Windows\System32" in "path" Environmental Variable and make sure "MySQL56" service is running.
I follow those steps:
I started MySQL80 in Services.
Changed Server -> Management Access Settings -> System Profile, from Windows to Linux so then I entered into Server Status and refreshed.

I encountered this issue when trying to install my first mySQL server.
When configuring Remote Management, I overlooked the operating system setting for my server. I was using Windows but the default was set to FreeBSD. Once I changed the server OS setting to Windows, the problem went away.
I just encountered exactly the same problem - read lots of suggestions but solutions didn't work for me (I can't un-install MySQL and re-install it on a live server)...
...my resolution, and what worked for me, was to copy chcp.com from C:\Windows\System32\ to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
I guess it's a path problem between a 32bit version of MySQL/Workbench and the 64bit OS
I got the same problem after restarting my pc and solved it by just starting wampserver!
so the solution is:
1. start wampserver- make sure apache,mysql are running and put all services online.
2.try to reconnect to the database!
Funnily enough, mine didn't work after the solution given by #mohit, and I'd rather not restart the computer as a work around as some has suggested.
After doing some digging around, I found that the mysql server service was not running
Task Manager --> Services --> [mysqlxx] right click and click start if not running. Note that. Note that [mysqlxx] could be a different format or name where xx are numbers

This might be because MYSQL service is stopped.
Open search bar in windows and type services
Open the services application and find MYSQL application.
Click on start
Now open sql command line and try entering password
It is because MySQL Server stop, may be you run another application that use the same port. Try to run MySQL Installer Community, and you will find the program that you have to reconfigure (blue text). Try to configure MySQL Server ant click Test Connection.
It's hard to tell with no debug output or error codes, but disabling ssl might do the trick:
mysql --ssl-mode=DISABLED --host=$MYSQL_HOST --user=$MYSQL_USER ....
I had the same issue, was looking through Google to find an answer and came here. Are you sure, that you provided MySQL password? The root cause of my problem was the fact, that I put the MySQL user instead of MySQL password (the root one). Now everything is working fine.
That could mean that the password is failing. Check CapsLock key.
Go to Control Panel and uninstall MySQL Server only, you don't need to unstall the other MySQL files.
As mentioned here, make sure you can see hidden folders and then delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\MySQL
C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL
C:\ProgramData\MySQL
C:\Users<your-username>\AppData\Roaming\MySQL
Reinstall MySQL Server Package only
Select another password (looks like the current password is the problem)

This is my first MySql install from the ground up.
I am using Windows Server 2016, trying to install MySql 8.0.15. I am doing this to try and use it with php 7.3.1.
The install has all the listed prerequisites.
When I get the config section of mysql insstaller, it breaks on the first response with an error of "Beginning configuration step: Writing configuration file
Invalid server template
Ended configuration step: Writing configuration file"
The system event log has one error, "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919}
and APPID
{F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."
But I'm not sure this is even the right troubleshooting path to start down.

I had the same problem with the
mysql-installer-web-community.
The mysql-installer-community was working without a problem.
The bottom link is the none web installer which was working.
For me initially when I was not accepting the initial update mysql pop-up then installer was not working, but once I accepted it. Then it successfully worked for me.
I have been able to install after getting the same error.
I have changed the credentials for the sql root.
By default, host is set to something like %ALL_HOST%. I changed to localhost.
I ended up uninstalling all mysql 8 components that had already installed.
Then went back and got the mysql installer 5.7.25.0. I think I had some trouble after that, but it wasn't the same error. I finally ended up installing mysql 8.0.15 by itself and it worked. Then I went back and did the connectors. Next the workbench. Finally docs and samples. Doing them one at a time seemed to go better. I am now up and running.
Here's what I did to fix the issue
completely removed mySQL Server and Workbench installations.
uninstalled the mySQL web installer. Restarted my computer.
ran the mySQL web installer again (only installing mySQL Server)
downloaded the mySQL Workbench installer to install Workbench separately
I am using MYSQL Workbench.
When I tried to open my local instance of mysql, this error message pops up.
Your connection attempt failed for user 'root' from your host to server at localhost3306:
Can't create TCP/IP socket(10107)
It was fine yesterday. And I did not change any setting before.
I suspected that the mysql service has stopped. However, when I checked, it is started. But i restarted it anyway. Nothing changes. Restarted the pc too, nothing's changed.
FYI, I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bits.

This may be because your sql server is not running. If you have not installed the sql server get it downloaded and installed using the sql installer.
If you have already installed the sqlserver and facing this issue goto start search for services, in services check whether sqlserver is running if not enable it.
I'm using administrator account in windows7.
Recently I got some error in using this OS because of the virus (may be) which stops all "service".
I could not find the virus which antivirus, but I solved the problem by changing the settings of service in "msconfig".
After some day, I tried to install mysql server in my computer for some reasons.
But I got some error like below

mysql-server-5.6-winx64:100 - Unable to update security settings. Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts.
I seems to be the aftereffect of virus or my misunderstanding in install steps.

When asked for the Current root password, leave that field blank. Then the server installed ok.
I apologise.. I know this question has been asked many times before, but I've tried lots of suggestions, and simply can't find a solution.
The problem: I have a MySQL database running on a hosted server.
I have to use SSH to connect to it, and I have the relevant Public and Private Key files.
I specifically want to use the PC version of MySQL Workbench, to access this database, for running queries, checking data, etc.
If I run Sequel Pro on a Mac, it connects fine, and I can browse and query the database. No problems.
If I run the trial version of SQLyog on a PC, it also connects fine. No problems.
But if I try to connect use MySQL's own "MySQL Workbench" application, using exactly the same settings and SSH Private Key file, it refuses to connect, throwing the well-known error:
Can't connect to MySQL server on 127.0.0.1' (10061)
I find it frustrating, as, in SQL Workbench, I specified the "MySQL Hostname" to use, db01.mysql.vm.MyHostingServer.net, but Workbench seems to ignore it, and demand to connect to 127.0.0.1 instead.
(I have read that Workbench says it needs the Public key file, but actually means the Private key file... and I have tried with both. I've also tried with MySQL Workbench on a Mac, but that crashed all over the place, simply when I was typing in server names and passwords.. it was a mess !!)
The hosting service I've gone with gives me limited permissions for changing MySQL settings, and given that Sequel Pro and SQLyog can connect successfully, I don't want to start messing about and changing things randomly.
Any ideas...?
Maybe you are not allowed to start the service "MySQL 55". Set the login information of Service "MySQL 55" as local!
To see the list of aviable services in Windows 7:
Open a run box
Type services.msc and press return.
Find the service MySQL55
A right click of the MySQL55 Local Service shows Properties -> Log On
Even I had same problem, The reason was mysql service was not getting configured properly, when I installed it through 'MySQL installer'. Also it was not starting, when I tried to start the service manually.
So in my case it seemed be a Bug with the 'MySQL Installer', as editing the install path to a different one when the 'Developer default' was selected, the problem occurs.
Solution (Not exactly a solution):
Uninstalled the MySQL all products (completely)
Reinstalled, this time also I have selected 'Developer default', but didn't make any changes to the path or any thing. So the path was just 'C:\Program Files\MySQL' (the default one)
And just clicked Next Next...
Done, this time MySql was running fine.
After making above improvement such as checking if mysql service is running or not, you just need to give a small password while creating connection, it is ' ' or 1 time press on space-bar in case of GUI or workbench. After which you just need to validate your machine with server (validated HOST). For that purpose click on 'New Server Instance' and it will configure server/HOST on your behalf itself.
I have done this successfully just a few couple of minutes ago. My workbench software is able to show all pre-installed databases etc now.

I was having same issue, way i have resolved is:
opened the MySQL installer. i was having a Reconfigure link on MYSQL Server row.
Clicked on it, it does reinstalled MySQL Server.
after that opened MySQL Workbench, and it was working fine.
Try placing the host name (db01.mysql.vm.MyHostingServer.net) in your windows host (C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host) file along with it's IP address and port number and see if that helps.
If you have installed WAMP on your machine, please make sure that it is running. Do not EXIT the WAMP from tray menu since it will stop the MySQL Server.
To connect to a new server, you click on home + add new connection. Put IP or webserver URL in new connection.
Just try to run the following command manually:
C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.6.17\bin\mysqld.exe --console
It worked for me :)
Ran into the exact same problem as OP and found that leaving the "MySQL Server Port" empty in the MySQL Workbench connection solves the issue.
I have tried all the method.
I will suggest you to reinstall it.
