I am a newbie as far as debugging goes. I usually just see if my javascript works and if not just start searching through my code. Can someone give me a walk through for dummies of how to set a breakpoint and see if the page hits it using Sublime Text?
I am using Xdebug for Sublime Text.

I'm trying to setup PhpStorm, so I can simply press: "Reformat Code" ( Option CMD L), before each save - and then it'll make everything look right.
But I have this case, where I don't know how to make PhpStorm make the code right.
This is the code:
As you can see, then indentation is with tabs, but the aligning of the characters are with spaces.
I want it to look like this:
It would be cool to get the solution. But it would be even cooler to be able to figure out, how I could have found the solution myself.
Further info / idea: There is a Php Codesniffer from Squizlabs implemented. So I can fix is automatically by running a sniff fix-command. It would be pretty cool, to be able to automatically setup PhpStorm's Code style settings, to correspond with Squizlabs styles, without having to gradually tune the settings one thing at the time. But I haven't found that functionality.
Solution attempt 1: Read through all Settings >> Editor >> Code style >> PHP
I couldn't find anything that resembled this.
Solution attempt 2: Disable .editorconfig
I've read quite a bit about .editorconfig and it doesn't have these nitty-gritty functions here (as aligning equal signs).
But to make sure, I tried disabling it. Didn't make a difference.
Solution attempt 3: Search setting for 'align' and 'formatting'
But I didn't find anything useful. :-/
Solution attempt 4: Update PhpStorm
I was on PhpStorm version 2022.2.1.
I tried updating to PhpStorm version 2022.2.4.
This is still in progress.
Please show what you have at Settings (Preferences on macOS) | Editor | Code Style | PHP, specifically Tabs and Indents tab.
Checking Use tab character option with unchecked Smart tabs should do just that.

(Pro tip: you can copy-paste your code sample in the preview area and start changing the options; the IDE will apply the changes live on the provided code sample instead of the default one.)
I use Webstorm as my IDE and Brackets for some quicker stuff.
Is there a light weight editor similar to brackets that has a snippets panel like Dreamweaver? or maybe one that has a plug in or extension that adds a snippets panel?
I'm familiar with live templates in Webstorm but I don't believe there is a way to have a list of them in a panel that is always visible. I much prefer to have a big panel of commonly used blocks of code and html tags that are always visible that I can just click on.
Thanks for the help.
Windows Only:
Notepad++ has a a snippet plug in which does the same thing. After installing Notepad++ you simply click the Plugin menu -> Plugin Manager. The tick snippets and press install. The rest is done for you.
Alternatives:
Sublime Text has a snippet tool but it's not the same as as Dreamweavers snippet panel.
What I want
How can I 'build' an HTML file so that it opens in my browser and Sublime Text 2 does not display a build panel?
More generally, how can I interact with Sublime Text 2 settings from my .sublime-build files?
I'm on Mac OS X/Chrome 32.0.1700.102.
I'd like to suppress the build panel in Sublime Text 2 (ST2) on a per-build-system basis. If necessary, I'd be OK suppressing depending on the syntax of the open window. Basically, I want to be able to open an HTML file I'm editing in my browser without seeing the [Finished in 0.01s] output at the bottom of the screen. An analogous question has been asked on superuser.
The setting to change is show_panel_on_build and my HTML.sublime-build is simply
{
"cmd": ["open", "$file"]
}
What I've tried
When I add "show_panel_on_build": false to HTML.sublime-build my builds hang and do not complete (and the panel shows up!).
I also tried installing Better Build System, but then my build stopped working entirely. I did not investigate the issue in detail.
Obviously, I could so something silly like write a script which modifies my User Preferences file outside of ST2, but I'm hoping for a more elegant solution.
Any thoughts (or pointers to appropriate plugins) appreciated. Thanks!
Sublime Text 2 only has an additional side bar window, but it's inconvenient with bigger file, such as reStructuredText file with lots of contents.
So is there a plugin to show file structure in Sublime Text (haven't Google out so far), or it is possible to create a plugin to show the file structure?
Thanks!
There is no such plugin as far as I know.
For your code files you can see the structure in Go to Symbol menu (CMD+R on OSX)
if the files are supported by Sublime Text. SublimeCodeIntel provides "code intel" support for many programming languages.
Sublime Text did not have a decent .RST structure parser last time I checked few months ago, but I would be really grateful if someone creates such plugin (willing to donate).
You can create syntax colorizer with the base Sublime Text (no Python coding needed), but for language analysis a full fetched plugin is required. I suggest you open another question for how to write such plugins.
Does anyone know of a plugin for Sublime Text 2 that allows you to preview images? I tend to use Sublime for everything now, but one thing that I miss about Coda is the ability to see pictures without having to leave the program.
Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere.
Sublime Text 3 dev build 3055 realized with image preview when opening images.
You can download dev builds on the official site.
Sublime Text 3 dev builds are currently available to registered users only.
