I'm playing around with openmeetings and was wondering if anyone knows how to write a script to automatically add a user or group. The idea is that I want to integrate it with a site so that any time a user registers on the site, they automatically receive an openmeetings account and are enrolled in a group.
I figure as a last ditch, I can roll up my sleaves and figure out how to manually edit the appropriate tables but I was wondering if there was either a documented way to accomplish this or a feature built into the openmeetings software for this purpose.
Thanks in advance; any help would be appreciated.
There are SOAP and REST APIs [1] to add a user. They can be easily extended to add a group.

I'm using Wix as an e-commerce solution and the way I understand it, I can only add code (not edit current code) to make specific changes to the site. The one change I want to make is to have the ability to authorize/capture PayPal payments at a later date for all the products I am selling.
I've read through the PayPal authorization/capture documentation here but am still confused for my specific use case considering the only button I have is a "Check Out with Paypal" once customers have added products to their cart as opposed to "Buy Now" or some of the other button options available.
Is there a way to easily integrate authorize/capture in this case and if so, can someone help me out with how? Hoping I can make one change no matter how many different products a customer is purchasing that allows me to either capture all or part of the entire purchase amount and void the rest.
I've scoured the internet, but don't feel like anything I've come across is directly applicable. See here and here. The latter link makes it look insanely easy, but again I think the problem lies in the fact that I'm using Wix and can't directly edit existing code.
If anyone can provide directions/code necessary to implement this I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks so much in advance!
Note: It appears Wix integrates with PayPal Standard and all I need is the "Basic Authorization" capability, NOT "Order Authorizations."

You've nailed it. It would be that easy, just add the parameter paymentaction=authorization when redirecting to PayPal, but Wix needs to provide a way for this to happen.
Many shopping carts -- especially those that integrate via an API rather than Payments Standard -- have a checkbox in their settings to toggle on authorization mode vs. immediate capture (sale) mode. The reason API-based integrations are much more likely to implement such a setting, is that an API is needed for the shopping cart to be able to capture the authorization at a later point in time. API-less integrations (like payments standard) cannot do the capture themselves (because this requires an API call), and so with standard you'll always need to log into www.paypal.com for the capture later on.
Anyway, there's probably no way forward unless Wix provides you with one.
Wix could well be using an API integration rather than the HTML-only Payments Standard, but the problem is the same: the API needs to specify 'authorization' (instead of 'sale'/'capture'), and from their lack of documenting the feature it does not appear Wix has implemented this.
Most shopping cart/platform providers do support authorization and capture, so you could make the feature request to Wix, and/or consider switching providers if it's a must-have.
On a general note, using authorization and capture adds complexity to payment processing, and the capture is not guaranteed to be successful. You can get a successful authorization and then have the payment fail when you try to capture it (happens in a certain % of cases, when funds are no longer available or the card decides to decline). So in general, you use immediate sale/capture at checkout time (not authorization) unless you have very specific and well-defined business needs to not be capturing up front (and refunding in the case of exceptions).
There is this site that i have to check every time to see if there is any new available house to rent and i was wondering if it's possible to program a notification for it to not miss my chance. If there is any way to do that please tell me how.
one way is:
You can use python to do that,
you need a Bot (Automation) that will check the availability of the Thing you are looking for, difficulty depends upon the site.
Hi guys I am constructing a task distribution management system for my team in which I want to add a functionality that:
When I create a task, I will have an option to choose "how long is this task valid for being taken". For example, when creating the task I put "2 hours" in the
<input id="valid-for">
, then this task will only be displayed on the dashboard for 2 hours from the time it was created and then after 2 hours -> "display: none".
I've searched the web for the mechanism of achieving this feature but I didn't get a satisfied answer probably because I don't know the right terminology to google. I tried to use AJAX and use TIME_STAMP type attribute in MySQL but didn't know how to proceed. Could anybody tell me how to achieve this feature by the use of MySQL, jQuery or any other technics that could fulfill this feature? No code necessary I just need some explanation.
Thanks guys!
Without knowing any more details, here is how I would consider writing the code:
In the database, have a start time and a use-by time.
In your browser page, you can run a script periodically, say every minute (this is called polling). In this case, you can use Ajax to call back to the server for updates.
At the server end, check for new tasks as well as expired tasks. Then send the results back to the Ajax caller.
Back at the browser, update the dashboard accordingly.
I would be inclined to remove the task on the browser rather than simply hide it.
I've been googling for a while but have come up with no results that tell me I can't, but no results telling me I can.
What I'm looking for is a way in apps script (or anything in their .NET/Java/Python...API) to give me a list of people who are actively looking at the sheet when I ask. I tried getViewers but it gives me a list of all people with access, not the ones looking at it currently. If I wanted to do some data manipulation but didn't want to do it when people where in the file, or if I wanted to save the user emails of people who were in the file. It seems like it's part of analytics but I can't find anything that does what I want.
We have a working version that does some on open magic/button script trigger but this requires the user to authorize and would like to improve the process and remove the authorization step.
Anyone know a way to pull the list of people who are currently viewing a sheet/doc/slide?
It seems that this is not yet supported in Google Apps Script. I've been searching for this feature but unfortunately can't also find anything related. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong or missed something related to this.) You're right that you can get the list of viewers but not the ones currently looking. I guess you can file a feature request for this.
If there is functionality missing from Apps Script that you would like to use, you can file a feature request on our Issue Tracker. Please describe the specific functionality you would like to see added, as well as reasons you think it's important. If possible, include specific details about your use case and the new opportunities the feature would allow for.
There is information on a website that is neatly listed and every so often (not on a set schedule) it updates with new information. I am wanting to write a quick script that will automatically let me know when something new has been updated instead of letting me know every x-amount of house/minutes.
My initial thought was that I would have the script pull all the information I was looking for and store it in a list and on the next scan create a new list and get rid of all duplicates which would leave me with what the new information is.
If you know of an effective way to go about such things and could lead me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.
I'm not really looking for source code, just how to go about it and I'm sure I can put it together after some guidance on an efficient way to do it.
You can poll the website, there is no real way you can register a change listener.
If you are ready to poll then document.lastModified (js) can help.
Of course if your website have rss feeds then you can listen for changes.
or there are some free services that will send you an email notification if you register for their services. things (eg: http://www.followthatpage.com/)
