Browser not displaying image, but Fiddler has the data - html

I'm generating a chart image png file on-the-fly on our accounting website. IIS web server. Usually it works, but intermittently it doesn't display, just displays the broken image link. (Confirmed it happens in IE 9 and Chrome browsers at minimum.) The problem occurs most often on local dev servers, often on test servers, and less often on the powerful production server farm.
Refreshing the page often fixes the display problem. When it fails it usually happens very quickly, not after a timeout delay. Loading the image takes longer than the failing path.
I've reproduced the problem with fiddler attached, and fiddler shows the image data gets to the client and displays the image just fine in ImageView. Fiddler has the image, the browser does not.
I'm out of ideas after proving it gets to the client browser. Any suggestions of things that could be wrong? Any "right" words I should be using to describe this problem in a search?

Caching? div concerning images don't work on pc's that opened site first 3 hours after upload

Hi I'm kinda stuck on idea's to try to solve my problem since I don't have much experience concerning caches.
I'm currently working on this site of a business partner of me.
I got his host, username and password so I'm litterary working as him using Filezilla.
I downloaded the entire site content from filezilla into a desktopfolder.
I made a copy of it to work in and from there I made some changes in the .html and .css files.
In offline mode, everythings works perfectly as I want it.
Then I deleted the the sitecontent in Filezilla and replaced it with my changes.
Now the weird parts happen.
When I open the site online without www. prefix it works great
when I open the site online with www. prefix I can't see the images that are
placed within div's that purely concern the image
When a pc opened the site in the first 3 houres it was online, the div's don't
work
Also later on that specific pc can't make the div's to work
Pc's that opened the site only after these 3 houres have no problem at all
I've tried replacing the stylesheet and wait a couple hours, but caches seem to be made. and the result stays the same.
However this is no problem for the avarage customer since for them the site works, you can see what a hell this may be for me as developer and the owner, who offcourse opened the site right after I put it online.
Any suggestions might be usefull.
In most of the browsers you can use F12 shortcut to see the developer tools. In Network tab you can see all files that are currently being loaded. You can see there if the file is being loaded from the server or from the local machine.
By pressing CTRL+F5 (in Chrome and think in Firefox too) you are forcing cache to refresh.
If the PC is still loading in a cached version of the site, you can refresh the page and delete the cache by holding Control + F5.
Seems like I found the source of the problem.
I was using the css from a bought template which has some coding that malfunctions when ftp-uploading using ASCII
Uploading Binary solves the problem
The reason the did work on some computers was that they had the old css still cached. which was earlyer uploaded in binary instead of the same css files i uploaded in ASCII.

Firefox will load webpages once, but will not render page correctly when refreshed

I have created a site that seem's to work fine in Chrome, IE and Safari however in Firefox v 35.0.1 (on PC and Mac), pages will load fine the first time, but if a Ctrl-F5 refresh is done, the browser will only load parts of the page. I can't get it to reload the page again correctly unless I navigate away from the page and then navigate back to it.
Go here on Firefox 35.0.1 and try reloading the front-page (or any other page for that matter) with Ctrl-F5 a few times...

If you don't manage to create a broken page by refreshing it, I'd be keen to know about that too.
On re-loading firefox misses out images and styles in an inconsistent manner, or just displays a 'connection was reset' message over and over again until eventually it decides to part-load the page again. While Firefox is displaying a 'Connection was reset' message, other browsers still have no problem loading and re-loading the same pages.
If this is ultimately resolved as a server issue outside of answers to this question, then I will post any info I have regarding the solution as an answer here.
UPDATE
Here is a link to a video of this occurring on every page of the site, plus a broadband speedtest showing 60Mb+ download speeds...

Yes, my computer is thrashing during this video, but the loading results are the same on PC's and Macs which are running properly too.

Chrome page does not finish loading

I have a simple web page running locally on my machine using XAMPP.
When in Chrome and I load the page, the page appears to load fine and appears as expected. The icon in the tab continues to show the spinning "loading" icon though, it never stops.
Using Chrome Developer tools I can see the network tab and there is nothing showing as loading
Also if I use Internet Explorer then the page loads and there is no loading icon.
Any idea why Chrome might think it is still loading something?
I had the same problem and found out it was one of my chrome extensions. I tried loading my site in an incognito page and the loading symbol stopped after the page finished. I went through my extensions to see which were not allowed in incognito and eventually found that it was "Mailto: for Gmailâ„¢ 2.4" causing the problem.
For what it's worth after eight years, I had a similar problem where Chrome would not load some images even though they were definitely available, ready, and waiting.
My solution was to close the browser, flushing cookies, history, and all the other internal cruft which had built up over time (using the "Close All & Clean" extension).
Restarting the browser and reloading the page, everything was there, all tickety-boo.
I have no useful theories on why this might've worked but as they say "works for me." Your mileage may vary.

Page changes not displaying on my computer only

I have come across a strange issue with my company's site, and it seems to only affect my computer. Changes that I have made to the raw HTML are not reflected in my browser (Firefox).
I have taken the following steps to resolving this issue, without any luck:
Ensured that the page was uploaded successfully to the correct directory (downloading the file from the server shows that it is the same file as the one just uploaded).
Cleared my browser history and cache, refreshed the page.
Opened the page in other browsers (IE, and Chrome).
RDP'd into our server and opened multiple browsers that way.
A colleague of mine sits directly across from me and he has opened the page in the same version of Firefox that I typically use and he can see the changes. He and I both work on the site regularly.
The strangest part is that I have made changes to this page before, and they showed on my screen instantly. These changes are still in place and visible, yet some HTML elements that existed before I made those changes do not show on my screen currently (despite still existing in the HTML).
Has anyone else ever experienced such a phenomenon? Is there anything else that I can try in order to resolve this issue?
Have you tried forcing cache refresh? Try it by clicking Ctrl + F5

.png images display in IE8 alone but not inside a page

It's been a while since I did serious web development. Now I meet a host of brand new problems I'm no longer familiar with..
I have some .png images for various icons in my web page. What I find is that whenever I edit these images, they stop working inside a page in IE8. That is, they (usually) display OK when I first open the page, then are replaced by the placeholder icon on refresh. Sometimes, some of the icons display and others, with the same src, don't.
My image tags are nothing fancy, typically:
<img src="images/misc/smallreport.png" alt="Report" />
When I right-click an icon in the page and select "properties", protocol, type, address and size are shown as "Not Available", and dimensions are incorrect (size of the placeholder, I bet).
If I open the images directly in IE (ie. not within the page), they work just fine.
I have used Paint.NET to edit the images, but have also tried saving them with Paint.
Right now, I am working right off the hard disk (ie. not through a web server). And, oh yes, none of this happens in Google Chrome.
What's going on here?
check the path to the file is correct - can we see the tag please.
Well, we learn something new every day..
I mentioned that I'm running this directly off the harddisk? Now, it turns out the html page (which I had gotten off a coworker) was blocked "to help protect my computer", as Windows does.
This is no big surprise, lots of files I'm working with originate on other computers, and I usually don't worry much about it (except with executables, which won't run until unblocked).
It seems, however, that when IE8 loads such a blocked HTML file, its security settings adjust somehow, and - well, I can only guess at the details, but as soon as I right-clicked the HTML file, selected Properties and clicked the "unblock" button, the problem went away.
Something similar happened to me once, I tried hard to find what was wrong, then I realized I was saving (from Photoshop) the file as PSD but with extension .png. Make sure you're not doing the same.
Also:
Clear temporary Internet files
Verify that the Show Pictures option has not been turned off
Make sure that the Toggle Images.exe Web accessory is not present and disabling images
Make sure that a third-party Internet security, firewall, or cookie-blocking program is not causing the problem
Enable the Auto-Select encoding option

It might be that the website you have browse has a lack of support
for an IE browser. IE is a nightmare for all web developers & Web designers.
It might be the developer of that website didn't care for an IE display because
of IE issues. Perhaps IE is trying to create a web standard to increase their
sales and marketing strategy. That's why don't care the modern Web development standard.
Why Chrome or Firefox or Safari, it's a free anyway.
