I have received a table-html designed site to complete it. Now I have encountered a problem and need your help. Would it be possible for you to see why the top right image is not displayed completely? I have tried a a lot and found nothing.
Here is the link to homepage:
http://myperfume.ir/
Here is the link to full image so that you can see how much it is clipped:

Thanks
The image that is being used as the row's background is this:
http://myperfume.ir/images/2_02.png
Which is already clipped, so you'll need to change it.
Your best bet would be to recode the entire website without using tables. You are going to have all kinds of headaches with this structure.

I am currently working on a project that involves a background image that needs to be linked specifically to an element within a container div.
The link is: http://idearevolution.ca/clients/jab/
The challenge I am running into is that as I resize my screen the green circle doesn't stay behind the guy. I've run into issues with responsive background images having to work with elements within a contained area in the past, but I've never been happy with my solutions.
The last thing I tried was using Sass to run a loop, adding a media query to update the position every 10 - 20 pixels. I don't like this solution however because of the code bloat it generates.
I am wondering if anyone has run into this issue before and if so, how do you go about resolving it? I've tried a few things but I'm just not happy with any of the solutions.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Andrew
Semantics would fix this problem best.
The semantics of using an image is this:
If the Image does not add to the content and explanation of the site,
do not use the image.
So, in truth, this image looks like it should only be part of the design.
Therefore, use the CSS3 Feature of Multiple Backgrounds.
I am having an extremely odd issue creating a template for my zencart ecommerce website.
I find that many times I load the website my menu will break up and split over two lines as shown below.
The reason I find this behavior odd is that if I refresh the page it correctly displays.
Now I could understand how to fix this if it was consistently one way or the other but it seems to vary between the two with no obvious difference in the code... I am not sure if this is some sort of technical bug with chrome as I haven't been able to replicate it in other browsers however even if it is I really need a way of working around it. So I am curious as to whether anyone has had this issue before and if so how they got around it.

If you add
white-space:nowrap;
To the div that contains the list it should prevent this, not sure why it's happening though.
Edit: here is a jsfiddle showing the technique http://jsfiddle.net/RM4S2/
Edit: No floats http://jsfiddle.net/BsGfu/2/
This is a really strange problem, and I was able to recreate the quirkiness in Chrome. While I don't know the direct cause of the issue, I think I found one way that works.
If you set the width of the second div within 'navEZpagesTop' that you are floating right that is wrapping,to 'width:485px;'. This seems to give the section room and does not wrap. If you want to leave more room for this expand without modifying the css you could set it to a much larger size, and float all the links inside of this to the right(instead of the left).
Hi I have been trying to trying to hide a portion of image for my blog. Basically what I would like to do is to have images of different sizes (or same width but different heights) on my blog's single post page. But on the main page of the it should show only a portion of it, the size of the visible image should be same for all the images.
I hope the above is clear, just in case I the above explanation is not clear here is a site that works on similar way http://www.creativeapplications.net/
Now I could not get if it's done using CSS or some sort of Javascript.
Could you guys help me to understand it and achieve similar image effect.
Thank you
Takias
You want CSS' clip property: http://www.seifi.org/css/creating-thumbnails-using-the-css-clip-property.html
i have a image that i don't want it drag-able or selectable so that no drag to other places on the page. how is that done?
If you want your visitors/users to see the resource on your page there is no way to stop them downloading it or saving it.
Possible options:
You can use JavaScript to prevent the context-menu popping up on right-click (related article: http://javascript.about.com/library/blnoright.htm).
You can cover the image with a transparent .png or .gif so that clicking on the image simple returns the transparent image.
But if the user can see the image on the webpage then it's already on their computer.
In reality this is far harder than you may think it will be, I assume you don't want people stealing your images which is a fair enough thing but just remember all the different ways in which someone can get an image from a web site. Your can catch the right click event and stop them at least doing that, but they can always just take a screenshot and save that instead. This is a slippery slope and it always ends the same way, if they really want to steal it, they're going to.
Since the image is just a binary data, and all the data is written on client PC's, for displaying reason it's up to th euser what they'll do with the data. There's no way you can prevent them from saving the picture displayed on a website.
All you might do is make it a little bit harder, by blocking right clicking on image, (displaying alert on right click, or something like this). But if the user really wants to save the picture they will do this anyway.
Why should you do it?
I can suggest a javascript that will able it: http://www.brownielocks.com/stopcopying.html
But every one, even with little experience can view the source and copy it. and even if you block them from viewing the source, they can use wireshark and get the picture directly. Even if you use flash to show the picture one can screen-capture the screen and retrieve the picture.
Put a watermark on the picture and use http://www.tineye.com/ from time to time and search for your picture. If you find others that use your picture - sue them. It is the most effective way.
It is impossible to prevent someone to store an image (or other resources) on their computer as others already have mentioned.
But another trick to make it harder (impossible for inexperienced people I guess) is to use CSS and background images:
<div style='background: url("myimage.gif");'></div>
The image is now on the background of the <div> block and cannot be dragged or right clicked in order to save it.
Using some coding knowledge it is possible to ind out the myimage.gif part, which can be added after the base URL in order download the image and save it. For example if the HTML page is at http://www.example.com/mypage.html the image could be found at http://www.example.com/myimage.gif
As I mentioned it is still possible to save the image, but for inexperienced people it is a lot harder.
Note: In this example the image is just put in the HTML tag, but with proper use of a CSS file, it is even harder to find for inexperienced people.
You cannot prevent a user from saving something from the web to his PC. The nearest thing that comes to my mind is the -moz-user-select CSS property... https://developer.mozilla.org/en/CSS/-moz-user-select
This javascript snippet does exactly what OP asks:
document.addEventListener("dragstart", preventDrag);
function preventDrag(event) {
event.preventDefault();
}
I got my colleague's web page together with and the css files and many images. I need to apply part of it to my jsp page. I have to admit that I didn't have any experience in handling css. Currently I am using GIMP2 to edit those 1-pixel-width background images. It's really the pain in the neck. I have to guess the proper image size, crop it a bit, then view it in the jsp... Do you have a better way to edit those 1-pixel-width images? Thanks in advance.
You might want to look into using Firebug add on for Firefox. There you can tweak the height of the graphics while looking at the page (yes, you need some knowledge about the DOM, CSS and Firebug to fully get this, but it's worth learning). Once you're happy with it, you open up your image editor and crop the image to that height.
