<div id="homeScreen">
<div id="homeWrapper">
<img src="logo.png" alt="logo-icon"/>
<img src="ajaxloader.gif" alt="loading.." id="loader"/>
</div>
</div>
I have two images. A logo and a loading image. I need position logo at centre horizontally and vertically and loader at centre at the bottom of page. My CSS is this:
#homeScreen
{
background: #d1d1d1;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
display: table;
}
#homeWrapper
{
display: table-cell;
vertical-align: middle;
text-align: center;
}
I'm able to get both images at centre by this code. But I don't need to have loader at same position with logo. I need it to be at the end of page without affecting the position of logo. How to do it?
I had a bit of trouble understanding what exactly you wanted, but this code should align the logo to the center (vertically and horizontally) and the loading icon to the bottom, centrally aligned horizontally.
HTML:
<div id="homeScreen">
<div id="homeWrapper">
<div id="logo"><img src="logo.png" alt="logo-icon" width="150" height="150"/></div>
<div id="loading"><img src="ajaxloader.gif" alt="loading.." id="loader" width="30" height="30"/></div>
</div>
</div>
CSS:
#homeScreen
{
background: #d1d1d1;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
display: table;
}
#logo
{
margin: 0 auto;
width:150px;
height:150px;
position:absolute;
left:50%;
top:50%;
margin:-75px 0 0 -75px;
}
#loading
{
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 50%;
margin-left: -15px;
width: 30px;
height: 30px;
}
If you want it at end of page try using the float:right on loader img, so it will be displayed at the end of the row. If you want to show the loader below logo, use a br after logo img.
If you want to center the logo to whole page and display loader at right bottom of page, you can apply the 'vertical-align:middle' to logo and 'vertical-align:bottom;float:right' to loader.
Hope this helps.

I have pure CSS image slider which I want to have positioned (margin:auto) with text underneath. Slider images are absolutely positioned as they are stacked. I can't figure out how to position divs around it all. I have content and wrapper divs with relative position. Image size should be responsive (therefore max-width:100%) but wrapper or content divs can be exact size. Or maybe they don't need to either?
This is what I am after:
And this is what I managed so far: www.jsfiddle.net/1qxxnxbf/1/
If your image slider is a carousel, you can't make it responsive without js. If you give your slider a height in the css, you can adjust it in the js to make it responsive.
The only other thing you can do is maintain an aspect ratio. So in your example you have 350x220 images. so If you get your padding-bottom on your .slider class to 62.857% (roughly 220/350) you get a variable height based on the width. If your width grows/shrinks, the height will grow/shrink as well.
http://jsfiddle.net/1qxxnxbf/2/
Edit: I just noticed that none of your code around the slider is responsive. Why are you trying to make the slider responsive?

I'm not sure how I would go about centering an image and then have a link floated up against the right side of the image and maintain the images position of true center. The following image is a mock up of what I am attempting.
I'm hoping there's a simple way to accomplish this using only css
You can use positioning to set the image to horizontal center with setting margin: 0 auto on the wrapper and the text in absolute position to this centered wrapper div:
.wrapper {
margin: 0 auto;
width: 150px;
position: relative;
}
.wrapper a {
position: absolute;
right: -100px;
top: 50%;
transform: translateY(-50%);
}
<div class="wrapper">

<img src="http://placehold.it/150x150">
</div>
Here is one way of doing it.
Apply position: relative to both the image and the link. Set a left margin of 50% to the image.
Use the left offset to move both the image and the link over by half the width of the image (assuming the image has a fixed/non-responsive width).
Using the left margin on the link to control the white space between the image and the link.
.wrap {
border: 1px dashed gray;
}
img {
margin-left: 50%;
position: relative;
left: -50px;
vertical-align: middle;
}
a {
position: relative;
left: -50px;
margin-left: 10px;
}
<div class="wrap">

New to CSS styling. I have a responsive background image on my page, and I want to have a circular logo positioned at the bottom center of it. I want this image to stay in the same position (in relation to the bottom of the background image) no matter how small/big the view is.
I've been playing around with the images padding and positioning, but neither are responsive. When the screen is smaller, the image moves up. When it's bigger, the image moves down. I want it to stay in the same position.
Here's a quick fiddle of my most recent attempt:
https://jsfiddle.net/ybeuvn9m/
And the code:
<div class="container-fluid">
<div class="row">
<div class="splash col-sm-12">
<div class="photo">
<img class="img-responsive img-circle logo" src="http://i.imgur.com/Dum5A8J.png">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
.logo {
padding-top: 200px;
width: 10%;
margin: 0 auto;
display: block;
}
.splash {
background: url('http://s169923.gridserver.com/images/IntelligentsiaMocha.jpg');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-size: cover;
height: 50vh;
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2);
background-blend-mode: overlay;
}
If I am understanding correctly you want an .photo to always be in the center of .splash. For this, you should use Flex-box.
add the following to your code:
.parentDiv{
display: flex;
justify-content: center;
align-items: center:
}
https://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/a-guide-to-flexbox/ ... for reference.
You probably want to absolutely position it inside the main image div. Here's a modified version of your JSFiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/jameson5555/ybeuvn9m/1/
Here are the updated .logo styles. You'll also need to add position: relative to your container to make the .logo's position be relative to it.
.logo {
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 50%;
width: 40px;
margin-left: -20px;
display: block;
}
.logo {
padding-top: 150px;
width: 110px;
margin: 0 auto;
display: block;
}
Your logo should have the constant width of your logo.
I have the following markup code in my page:
<div id="root_img" style="width:100%;height:100%">
<div id="id_immagine" align="center" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;">
<a id="a_img_id" href="./css/imgs/mancante.jpg">
<img id="img_id" src="./css/imgs/mancante.jpg" />
</a>
</div>
</div>
And it does not appear as I expected, it looks like that:
But I wanted to get this result:
How can I center this image horizontally and vertically?
Here is a tutorial for how to center the images vertically and horizontally in a div.
Here is what you are looking for:
.wraptocenter {
display: table-cell;
text-align: center;
vertical-align: middle;
width: 200px;
height: 200px;
background-color: #999;
}
.wraptocenter * {
vertical-align: middle;
}
<div class="wraptocenter">
<img src="http://www.brunildo.org/thumb/tmiri2_o.jpg">
</div>
For vertical alignment, I would include some CSS to position it from the top 50% and then move it up half the number of pixels height of the image.
Horizontal, I would use a margin, as suggested.
So if your image was 100x100px you'd end up with.
<img id="my_image" src="example.jpg">
<style>
#my_image{
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
margin: -50px auto 0;
}
</style>
Image in a div horizontally and vertically.
<div class="thumbnail">
<img src="image_path.jpg" alt="img">
</div>
.thumbnail {
height: 200px;
margin: 0 auto;
position: relative;
}
.thumbnail img {
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 0;
right: 0;
top: 0;
margin: auto;
max-width: 100%;
max-height: 100%;
}
There are two aspects you need to address. First aspect is the horizontal alignment. This is easily achievable with the margin: auto applied on the div element surrounding the image itself. DIV needs to have width and height set to image size (otherwise this will not work). To achieve vertical center alignment you need to add some javascript to the HTML. This is because HTML height size is not known on the startup of the page and might change later on. The best solution is to use jQuery and write the following script:
$(window).ready( function() { /* listen to window ready event - triggered after page is being loaded*/
repositionCenteredImage();
});
$(window).resize(function() { /* listen to page resize event - in case window size changes*/
repositionCenteredImage();
});
function repositionCenteredImage() { /* reposition our image to the center of the window*/
pageHeight = $(window).height(); /*get current page height*/
/*
* calculate top and bottom margin based on the page height
* and image height which is 300px in my case.
* We use half of it on both sides.
* Margin for the horizontal alignment is left untouched since it is working out of the box.
*/
$("#pageContainer").css({"margin": (pageHeight/2 - 150) + "px auto"});
}
HTML page which is showing the image looks like this:
<body>
<div id="pageContainer">
<div id="image container">
<img src="brumenlabLogo.png" id="logoImage"/>
</div>
</div>
</body>
CSS attached to the elements looks like this:
#html, body {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
background-color: #000;
}
#pageContainer { /*css for the whole page*/
margin: auto auto; /*center the whole page*/
width: 300px;
height: 300px;
}
#logoImage { /*css for the logo image*/
width: 300px;
height: 300px;
}

This solution is for all size images
In this the ration of the image is also maintain.

Basically, I have some nice navigation button .png's given to me from a friend and a header/banner.jpg. I want to put these .png's on top of the .jpg banner. The problem is that I'm using a css rollover function (for the navigation buttons) that requires me to use position: relative for the divs that contain the individual navigation buttons. Otherwise the rollover function gets hairy in Opera. How would I be able to accomplish this?
Here's some code for the css (for the navigation buttons):
.cssnavabout { background: url(navigation/about_on_over.png) no-repeat; white-space: nowrap; display: block; height: auto; width: auto; float: left; position:absolute; top: 55%; left: 50% }
.cssnavabout a { display: block; color: #000000; width: auto; height: auto; display: block; float: left; color: black; text-decoration: none; }
.cssnavabout img { width: auto; height: auto; display: inline; margin: 0px; border-style:none }
.cssnavabout a:hover img { visibility:hidden }
And the HTML partition (for the navigation buttons):
<div id="csswrapper">
<div class="cssnavabout">
<img src="navigation/about_on.png" width=100 height=50 />
</div>
Heres the CSS for the header/banner:
#header { width: 1024px; height: 109px; position: relative; margin:0px; background-color:#FFFFFF; }
And the HTML for the banner:
<div id="header">
<img src="images/banner_about.jpg" width="100%" height="109" /> </div>
I'm sure this is easily solvable. Sorry, this is my first website.
How do I put an image on top of an image without using absolute positioning?
Like so...
<div style="background: url(image.png) no-repeat">
<img src="image2.png" alt="" />
</div>
Seems to be a case of z-index: http://www.w3schools.com/Css/pr_pos_z-index.asp
But you can give absolute position to the anchor that contains the png button which should do the trick.
#csswrapper a{
position:absolute;
top:20px; //edit
right:20px; //as needed
}
