QJSon in Qt4.7 - how to install/use - json

I'm using Qt4.7 on a Windows machine. I can't update Qt to version 5 and I'm unable to install CMake.
I need to use QJSon for a project, but it seems to be only available natively on Qt5+. Can anyone instruct me on how to "backport" it or something?
I also found this class for JSON handling that might serve the same purpose. If I wanted to use it instead, do I only need to import it to my project?
Please escuse me if this is all too simple/evident, but I'm new to desktop development, I only have some experience with webdesign, so any help is welcome. :)

Whilst you could attempt to backport QJson you're best off going for the second option, simply for ease. All you need to do is bring the files into your project, if you're using Qt Creator when you do 'Add existing...' it should automatically add the include and header to the compilation phase. If it doesn't you add them to the .pro file so the compiler knows what it needs to include.

How to enforce module boundaries in Java <= 8

I want to modularize a monolithic application by using Java modules (introduced by Project Jigsaw).
Unfortunately I'm currently stuck to use Java 8. I would like to build those modules (jar files) anyway, but without the feature of using a module-info.java file for declaring the dependencies and the exported API.
Some weeks ago I stumbled upon an API/framework which allows to define nearly the same things that you can do in a module-info.java file. It could be used in JUnit tests in order to enforce module's not to use the internal's of another module and that module's only can access modules they explicitly depend on.
Of course you do not have any assistence from the compiler or the IDE, but you can enforce the access by JUnit. Unfortunately I do not find the project which provides the API any more.
Can anyone help?
Btw. if there is another good approach beside a unit test, please let me know, too!

unable to run exe created in Qt 5.3 on different windows machine

I am facing issues to run .exe files created in Qt 5.3 on different windows system. I have included all the .dll files. The issue is that on the latest system with graphics card support the application runs without any issues but on older systems it just gives blanck screen.
I suspect that this has something to do with openGL support for the system.
Is there a way where I can make sure that the application runs without any glitches on all the systems?
Or is it possible to have an application created without oprnGL support needed ?
Hoping to hear some solution for this.

Please note that when I run the .exe on a new system with updated graphics, the screens looks perfect.
Did you include any OpenGL headers in your Qt Project?
Because if you did then there is obviously going to be a dependency on OpenGL for each system and if one of them cannot support this then you either need to decrease the minimum version of GL you are using or remove these headers altogether. It is also worth noting that no matter how hard you try - you will never get the same version of OpenGL to run across every piece of hardware without having to change something.
Did you add the QtOpenGL module?
From what is sounds like, you are not using OpenGL in your application. If this is true then you should remove this module from your .pro file and it should remove the dependency.

Flex build parameters

Is it possible to define parameters to be set on installation of an .air. I want to be able to give simple information about the customer when I am installing the .air. So this information is accessible on preinitialize of the application.
use an external xml or json in the project and tell your customer to change that xml in the install folder! This way your application can take your runtime info from there.
For your exact question, I don't think there is any. You could take the air project and wrap it in your own installer which you can customize.

Coming from a Flash Builder background, how can I import a library into IntelliJ IDEA?

the only IDE I've used for many years was Flash Builder. Sadly the 4.7 version is in a poor state, so, I started looking at other IDE's lately.
I'm trying IDEA, but I don't know how to add a library to my project.
In FB it was simple, I go to the compiler settings and I just add a folder or swc. But here, it seems like there are 2 options, one under the "Libraries" tab and other is creating a new module, however, this new module requires a main app, SDK, and a lot of other stuff that doesn't make any sense to have in a library.
So, what is the equivalent of adding a library path here?.

"Libraries" is the correct way to do it. There are two kinds of libraries: libraries and global libraries. Global libraries can configured once and used in every project. WIX InstallUtil/InstallUtilLib and Configuration File Deployment why is InstallUtil bad?

I often find the quote "InstallUtil.exe" is an ugly pattern or "Don't use InstallUtil.exe" and that I should use native WIX or Installation package patterns and I still don't understood why.
I stepped away from using InstallUtil to install a .NET service as I finally learnt that writing registry keys for such an action should be an un-install-able action - and I've come to terms with this as correct.
As I've been working through my WIX installer for a relatively complex product, I have found myself in need of creating or updating SQL Server databases, creating or updating IIS Applications and finally updating or creating configuration files.
Each of my components (features) are optional, but they all share the same configuration file. As my product uses unity, its important to note that this library contains strong support for reading/updating/removing components from the Unity Configuration block, therefore it seems fairly smart to me that I should take advantages of these blocks via Installation Components (i.e. InstallUtil) to create or update my configuration file at installation time.
Just to be clear here, my installer does not natively contain a configuration file for my application: at installation time, the installer has no idea as to the shape of it as its based on the features selected. Surely I should be embedding this knowledge into each of the modules that are to be deployed and not in the remit of the installer which is now a completely independent project? Wouldn't this break O-O principals even if we are talking about installation?
I'd really appreciate some guidance as to whether this is good practise or not? Am I reading 'InstallUtil' is bad for installing services, or is it that using 'InstallUtil' is bad full-stop? If so, what are my options for smart updating of configuration files?
The main reason for avoiding InstallUtil is that it runs outside of the installation transaction, so Windows Installer cannot keep track of what it's done.
I have used InstallUtil on a few occasions, when I just couldn't get Wix to do what I needed and didn't have time to write a custom action. In this case I called the InstallUtilLib version as I feel this is a cleaner approach.
