I cannot seem to find up to date tutorials for creating own themes from scratch for the current release of Magento, can anyone point me to one? The most comprehensive I know which but is a little out of date is this
Or could anyone give me a short step by step crash course on building one? I have some knowledge about the theme system of Magento by now.

Does anyone know of a good Open Source CAS Library that is easily accessible in JavaScript. It doesn't have to be extremely powerful. The core functionality I'm looking for is the simplification of algebraic expressions.
All answers are helpful (Sorry this is my first time on SO).

i am looking for a open source shopping card ecommerce solution that integrates with quick books. I am currently hosting on windows IIS but would look at others based on suggestions. is there any one that stands above the rest ?

The more mature the framework the better as this will go on a production site immediately.

Magento Shopping Cart- they are using Zend Framework.
Magento is replacing other open source cart, and becoming the best, in terms of functionality and interface.
Have a look at Zen Cart or osCommerce. Both are widley supported and have a large community base.
