I'm trying to run a backup query:
BACKUP DATABASE MY_DATABASE TO DISK='C:\Users\me\Desktop\POD2013-05-14.bak'
But I get the following error:
Cannot open backup device 'C:\Users\me\Desktop\POD2013-05-14.bak'. Operating system error 5(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).
I thought it has to do with permissions, but log in as sa and Administrator (Win Auth) doesn't solve the problem.
Can anyone help me with this?
You need to check the security permissions on the folder you are trying to backup. Make sure the service account (Network Service) has write permissions.
I think your problem might be okay.

I've been browsing the web and this site from other users which have had this issue and reading the comments to resolve however I've not had much luck and i'm going bonkers trying to work out the issue.
I have two servers - Win Server 2019 and both use XAMPP with Apache and MYSQL, the first server (1) has been running for over a year perfectly fine, however I'm setting up another server (2) to use as a test environment but with a fresh install of windows, xampp along with the Apache/MYSQL modules.
I'm using Invision Community application but I'm getting this upon the first page of installation:

IPS4.php is just a file to state whether the server meets all the requirements for the application.
I've then compared MYSQL on (1) to the install on (2) and I've matched the details, given privileges to "root" user on all of the available databases within PHPMYADMIN, granted full grants and then reloaded them, restarted MYSQL and Apache and still same issue.
Normally the Invision software continues through to then request the database details, user details etc. but it hasn't got to that point yet.
The only differences I can see between both servers is (1) is running PHP 7.3.7 | Apache 2.4.39 | MySQL 5.0.12 and server (2) is running PHP 8.2.0 | Apache 2.4.54 | MySQL 8.2.0
I was hoping I would just install XAMPP and then transfer the files to install the software and then configure it to choose which DB/User and then install and get started but apparently not.
ROOT doesn't have a password on (2) but does on (1), when I add a password to (2), I'm then unable to access PHPMYADMIN and doesn't ask for a password to log in. I've spent a few hours today trying to resolve this but now I think I'd like some advice. Many thanks
Setting root password, then flushing privileges, granting full permissions on all databases, copying the mysql files from server (1) to server (2). uninstalling XAMPP and reinstalling.
I don't recall ever needing to do anything for permissions when I setup this software on server (1). I've also installed this software on a few linux servers but didn't enjoy using linux so I stopped using it.
EDIT: It seems it's using MariaDB 10.4.27
Set a password for root on (2).
Change the phpMyAdmin config.inc.php file,change
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'cookie';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = '';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = '';
then phpMyAdmin will throw a login dialog and ask for a user/password
That should sort out the phpMyAdmin issue.
Big Note: You really should not be using the root account for any app/website access. Instead you should create a user account in MySQL/mariaDB one for each app/website that has access only to the database(s) required for that app/website. (Basic Security)
There was a user called "Any" hostname "%" which looks to be what was causing the issue, I gave it access to all databases (most likely wrong thing to do but it's internally accessed only - no access outside of our network).
This got rid of the error

I'm creating new app on Heroku. Installed add-on "JawsDB Maria" successfully - I can open it's dashboard
In PHP on connection to DB I receive error:
SQLSTATE[HY000] [1044] Access denied for user 'vcgu1h273742rn5l'#'%' to database 'jeyx2j66ipgtqe11'
I'm sure that problem is not in PHP, because the same error I receive even on MariaDB dashboard trying to Create New Databite - https://prnt.sc/rj4dr4 .
Looks like solution is to GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES to user. But using dashboard I can't execute even SHOW GRANTS.
Questions:
Can somebody help how to solve this problem?
Or, at least, which way I can GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES?

You probably know how to read your error message. At any rate, my superpower is explaining the obvious. So, ... here goes.

Tells you your php program couldn't get to the MySQL server. That operation goes in these steps.
Make a TCP/IP network connection to the server. SUCCESS.
Present a user name and password to the server. SUCCESS.
But the server rejected those credentials. FAILURE
Access the database schema mentioned in the connect request. Not attempted yet. So we have no information about whether the named database actually exists.
The success of step 1 means there are no firewall or network-routing issues. That's good.
The success of step 2 gives us even more confidence about firewall issues.
The failure of step 3 tells us that we're not using a username and password that the MySQL server knows about.
Step 4 is incomplete. So, even if we fix the username and password issues, we still might get another issue before this mess is behind us.
Heroku assigns those usernames to their customers. So, check on the appropriate Heroku control panel to see whether you're using the right username / password credentials. Your error message says you've got wrong credentials.
Next step? Ask your vendor for help. Is Bruce Schneier is reading this? Maybe he can fix this for you from his earbuds while he's riding on the subway. But none of the rest of us here on SO can fix it.
I've waited for 8 hours, hoping there is some trigger, that will complete all necessary settings. But it didn't helped.
Then I reinstalled this add-on. And now all works fine!
So, that was some kind of "JawsDB Maria" bug.
My issue is I've a laravel web application and in the storage folder I'm logging the slow SQL queries, but they do not appear. In laravel.log I can see the following error:

I'm running this on CentOS 7 linux with NginX and PHP-FPM. Both of them runnin with user called web and the permissions on all the files and folders is web:web. However, I saw one slow-query log file, with the permission root:web. What gives?
Oh yeah! I have found the issue. One of my former sys.operators wrote the cronjob and I didn't pay attention. He wrote it for the sudo user and not the web user. It was a job to run certain PHP commands. That is why the log file appeared with root permissions, but later on, the laravel application was unable to write it. Thanks for the help. :)

I tried some configuration as googing stated. That is set wait_timeout, max_allowed_packet. I checked for the bin_log but it is not available.

Basically nothing except phpMyAdmin is limited by PHP's timeout and resource limits (limits to keep a runaway script from bogging down your entire machine for all eternity; see the docs for details of those values. In some cases, you might be authenticating through a different user account (for instance, root#localhost and root#127.0.0.1 aren't the same user), but as long as you're using a user with the same permissions the differences are minimal.
You can read more about logs in the MySQL manual, note that "By default, no logs are enabled (except the error log on Windows)".

From my research the problem is that browser have some limit to disconnect the connection i.e timeout connection. So that the above problem raised.
To resolve this problem
Go to /opt/lampp/phpmyadmin and open config.inc.php
add the command $cfg['ExecTimeLimit'] = 0;
Restart the xamp server. Now you can perform any operations.

2. Web client is differ from terminal because Terminal client will not getting timeout. Terminal client maintain the connection till the progress completed. I recommenced to use command prompt to import/export/run process by safe way.
Basically phpmyadmin will not have any log file. If you wanna see warnings and error you should configure the log file.
Configuration steps:
Go to /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf
Add log_bin = /opt/lampp/var/mysql/filename.log
Restart the xamp server. You can get the log information.
I am trying to install jasperserver(war) in a CentOS linux machine. It throws up error saying,
Message: [Access denied for user 'jasperdb'#'xx.xx.xx.xx' to database 'mysql']
However, when I access mysql via command prompt it works fine. I am able to access via the user jasperdb from same machine where I am trying to install jasperserver.
It is also weird why jasperserver tries to access the database with name 'mysql'? Any solutions?
The mysql database within mysql is the one where user info is stored. That is why it is trying to access the mysql database. I am assuming you have 'jasperdb'#'localhost' in your mysql.user table. Try making sure that localhost and any other computer names are in your /etc/hosts filled in for 127.0.0.1.
If you are not using the ".war file" installer, I recommend using that. It's a lot easier to troubleshoot than the installer that bundles in Tomcat and PostgreSQL.
If you are using that, then you should find the credentials that you have set in default_master.properties. That includes both the user name and the database name. Run ant clean-config to make sure you aren't picking up any old settings.
