At work we have a split ms access database. The backend lies on a drive that is mapped locally (so for everyone it's the same path). I know want to create a button in the frontend that when clicked automatically creates a merged version of the database. This version is necessary for out specific backup/history needs. I have very little knowledge of VBA programming, so any help is appreciated.
To create the merged version the code should just execute the following:
Create duplicate frontend (?)
Delete all existing tables in the duplicate
Import tables from the backend into the duplicate
(I am aware that it is not such a good idea to merge split databases, but in this case with many users that have absolutely no knowledge of CS it is the most usable solution)
Create a Module in the front-end database with the following Function

You provide the path to the PDF to display asOpenArgsargument on open report:

Keep in mind that adding, then deleting records to the temp table, will bloat your database if you don't compact it later (or just deploy a fresh Front-End copy on start, as I do).

I want to be able to view the contents of my access database's laccdb file through VBA so I can use it to alert users (through a button) who else is in the database.
I specifically don't want to use a 3rd Party tool. I have tried using:

I put together some code to read through the lock file and output a message listing users currently using the system.
Trying to read the whole file in at once seems to result in VBA treating the string as Unicode in the same way notepad does so I read in character by character and filter out non printing characters.

Overall Goal:
Pull all files from folder > format files in staging table > copy staging table to master table > kill staging table > rinse and repeat until all files have been taken from folder, formatted and put into the master table.
Issue:
I have apparently not taken into account that some of the files sent to me will have blank worksheets (rather they may have a value that says "No Data" in cell A1). When my macro hits the "No Data" or blank sheet I get a Null error (94).
What I've tried:

I think I can update the SQL UPDATE line to allow Nulls, but I feel like a more efficient solution would be to skip if null. However I have tried modifying the Do Until statement and had no luck...

The files have multiple worksheets. I learned this the hard way in finding this error on a random worksheet between several other worksheets that did have data.

No need to touch the staging table functions. Simply conditionally populate the strFileList array depending if Excel workbooks' first sheet contains No Data or empty cell. Recall Access VBA has complete access to all Excel objects via COM interface or Excel VBA reference and so can iteratively open workbooks. Hence, adjust your While/Wend loop accordingly:

I have a procedure that relinks all the tables in a database baed on whether or not they are a linked table. Currently this is set up to run automatically as it's set inside an AutoExec macro which calls the function.
The code works but only if I close the database and reopen it. I know that this is because this needs to be done for the new links to take effect but is there anyway around this? Or, failing that, would it be better to make the VBA code close the database and reopen it?

The most common error in this situation is forgetting to .RefreshLink the TableDef but you are already doing that. I just tested the following VBA code which toggles a linked table named [Products_linked] between two Access backend files: Products_EN.accdb (English) and Products_FR.accdb (French). If I run the VBA code and then immediately open the linked table I see that the change has taken place; I don't have to close and re-open the database.

I even tested calling that code from an AutoExec macro and it also seems to work as expected.
One thing you could try would be to call db.TableDefs.Refresh right at the end of your routine to see if that helps.
Edit
The issue here was that the database had a "Display Form" specified in its "Application Options", and that form apparently opens automatically before the AutoExec macro runs. Moving the function call for the re-linking code to the Form_Load event handler for that "startup form" seems a likely fix.
