The mocked object is not getting called. Instead, the real object is getting called.
Is my SetUp page code wrong?
First i tried to mock in CalcFixture , but it was always taking the real object .

Your Fitnesse test should not care if you are testing something with mock objects or real ones. All work is happen in the CalcFixture - this is where you should use Mockito to mock the object you need.

Convert an instance of QObject to JSON

I have some code that I am using to convert arbitrary QObject subclasses to JSON. I able to convert them if they are pointers to a subclass, but am curious whether it is possible to convert instances (provided the subclass implements a copy constructor). Is there some crazy way to use something like templates or the type information provided by QMetaType to copy an instance of a QObject subclass without knowing what it is? The ToJson code is in a class that has no knowledge of the subclass.
I think it might be possible with QMetaType::create or something similar but I haven't been able to figure out how to actually copy the properties of the subclass instance.

Is there any way to handle the case illustrated by test1 above?
Long-story-short: nope. There is no way to store QObjects by value in containers or QVariant.
Qt forbids the copy of QObjects and all inheriting classes. The mandatory the Q_OBJECT macro will disable any copy constructor also in newly defined classes.
The copy constructor that you are defining in the MyObject class is missing the base class constructor call. If QObject had a copy constructor it would be something like this:

Probably, the compiler is giving you a warning, but allows you to have such a constructor, even if it will result in undefined behavior or slicing an instance of MyObject every time it is passed by value.
Furthermore, the Qt docs states the following:
The values stored in the various containers can be of any assignable
data type. To qualify, a type must provide a default constructor, a
copy constructor, and an assignment operator. This covers most data
types you are likely to want to store in a container, including basic
types such as int and double, pointer types, and Qt data types such as
QString, QDate, and QTime, but it doesn't cover QObject or any QObject
subclass (QWidget, QDialog, QTimer, etc.).
So you can't store QObject and derived classes inside a Qt container unless you store them as pointers, as copy of QObjects is disabled by design.
Furthermore, if you want to exploit polymorphic behavior you must use pointers, even if there is no explicit need to cast to derived classes in your code, as far as I can see. If you really need to resort to casting in some place, you could consider making your ToJson a template function.
There is a solution, but use caution as it is only reasonable/applicable in the following scenario:
Classes in question are primarily data storage classes
The classes in question would be entirely copy-able if they didn't inherit from QObject
Most importantly, the ONLY reason you have the class inherit from QObject is so that it can have meta properties.
If your code uses the class as a QObject for any reason other than to get meta information, you are almost certainly using it incorrectly if you are trying to store it by value (as explained by G. Giordano in their answer).
Misuse considerations aside, in order to JSON-ify a QVariant that stores a QObject subclass by value, you can use the QMetaType::create method and pass it the user type id and yourQVariant.constData().
Example:

Manipulating a mocked Calendar object to return specific days

I'm using a Calendar object to determine whether or not to increase the workload of a system based on current day/hour values. Given that this object uses static methods, I'm using PowerMock to mock the static methods with the following annotations:

As of now, all of my attempts to return a specific value result in the following assertion error. Now I vaguely understand why it's returning the default but I do not see why I can't force the value or how to get around this expectation. Mocks in general are still a frustrating mystery to me. What am I missing?

Mocks are fairly simple. But wanting to mock static methods is a big running after complexity. I generally do not recommend to mock something like a Calendar. If you do weird and complex thing with it, just encapsulate in something you can test and mock easily.
And in fact, we pretty much never use Calendar.getInstance(). It returns something according to the locale. But it's rare that you don't want a specific calendar i.e. GregorianCalendar. So just do new GregorianCalendar.
But anyway, add a protected method doing

will take 2 minutes and then a simple partial mock will do the trick.
Finally, I also don't recommend to use Calendar. You have a much nicer API in java.util.date in Java 8.

I would do a mock for a call inside a function who receive a list and return a String. I tried follow several webs but i can not understan how adapt the code for my case. I have this code to mock:

How can I test this function?
You should not use any mocking to test such code. Your method receives a list of strings; and it returns a string. That should be all that matters.
In other words: your method has a certain contract: given input X, it should deliver output Y. How that method comes from X to Y - that goes under implementation details. And you do not test implementation details.
So, in short, the answer is: you step back, and figure the complete set of meaningful input values { X1, X2, ..., Xn }. Then you determine which output values { Y1, Y2, ... Yn } correspond to each input. Now you write n tests; one for each pair Xi, Yi.
[hint: it might also be a valid "Yi" to expect a certain exception to be thrown; instead of a value being returned ]
Long story shorts: if your method has such a nice input/output setup; then you should only test it using asserts. If your method works by changing other things within your class under test; then consider adding getters that allow you to inspect that state.
And if mocking is required, then you should use dependency injection in order to provide a "mocked" thingy into your class under test.

Just to complement the other answer, we could also write a so-called white box test (also known as an "isolated unit test") where the Prepara dependency is mocked.
For example, the following test could be written (using the JMockit mocking library here, others could be used as well):

Spock mock returns null inside collabolator but not in feature method

I have a problem with Spock Mock() object.
I have a java class I'm trying to test. This class does some ftp stuff I want to mock.

Now, inside "test execute" the files.each{} prints what is expected. But when receiveData.execute() is called my sftpUtils are returning null..
Any ideas why?

Maybe i didnt state my problem well - that I dont want to just check if getFileNames was called. I need the result to proper check the for loop. If I comment the loop inside execute, the test passes. But since I use the result of the getFilenames() method, I get a NPE execute method reaches the for loop. With mockito I would do something like this

The main problem is that you did not include the response generator (the >> part) in the expectation (i.e. the "1 * ..." part inside the then: block).

You shouldn't have to declare your stub in the setup: block. You can just specifiy it once in the then: block -- even though that follows the call to receiveData.execute(). That's part of the magic of spock thanks to Groovy AST transformations. And since (non-shared) fields are reinitialized before each test (more AST based magic), you don't even need setup() in this case.
Another odd thing is that you are both stubbing out sftpUtils.getFilenames() and also calling it from the test code. Mocks and stubs are intended to replace collaborators that are called from the system under test. There's no reason to call the stub from the test driver. So delete the call to getFilenames() from your given block and let the code under test call it instead (as it does).
Groovy lets you simplify calls to Java set and get methods. Look at the initialization of receiveData below. Its okay to use def in Groovy. Let the compiler figure out the data types for you.

How can I use SWIG to handle a JAVA to C++ call with a pointer-to-pointer argout argument?

The problem involved a JAVA call to a C-function (API) which returned a pointer-to-pointer as an argout argument. I was trying to call the C API from JAVA and I had no way to modify the API.
Using SWIG typemap to pass pointer-to-pointer:
Here is another approach using typemaps. It is targetting Perl, not Java, but the concepts are the same. And I finally managed to get it working using typemaps and no helper functions:
For this function:

Also, when I want to pass the pointer into a function, I have a typemap that looks like this:

[Swig] Java: Using C helper function to pass pointer-to-pointer
The problem involved a JAVA call to a C-function (API) which returned a pointer-to-pointer as an argout argument. I was trying to call the C API from JAVA and I had no way to modify the API.
The API.h header file contained:

The original C-call looked like:

The function of the API was to store data at the memory location specified by the pointer-to-pointer.
I tried to use SWIG to create the appropriate interface file. SWIG.i created the file SWIGTYPE_p_p_header.java from API.h. The problem is the SWIGTYPE_p_p_header constructor initialized swigCPtr to 0.
The JAVA call looked like:

status = SWIG.ReadMessage(hdr);
But when I called the API from JAVA the ptr was always 0.
I finally gave up passing the pointer-to-pointer as an input argument. Instead I defined another C-function in SWIG.i to return the pointer-to-pointer in a return value. I thought it was a Kludge ... but it worked!
You may want to try this:

The inline function above could leak memory as Java won't take ownership of the memory created by ReadMessageHelper, since the HEADER instance iscreated on the heap.
The fix for the memory leak is to define ReadMessageHelper as a newobject in order for Java to take control of the memory.

If you are lucky, as I was, you may have another API available to release the message buffer. In which case, you wouldn’t have to do the previous step.
William Fulton, the SWIG guru, had this to say about the approach above:
“I wouldn't see the helper function as a kludge, more the simplest solution to a tricky problem. Consider what the equivalent pure 100% Java code would be for ReadMessage(). I don't think there is an equivalent as Java classes are passed by reference and there is no such thing as a reference to a reference, or pointer to a pointer in Java. In the C function you have, a HEADER instances is created by ReadMessage and passed back to the caller. I don't see how one can do the equivalent in Java without providing some wrapper class around HEADER and passing the wrapper to the ReadMessage function. At the end of the day, ReadMessage returns a newly created HEADER and the Java way of returning newly created objects is to return it in the return value, not via a parameter.”
