Create SWF video of images through Adobe Flex - actionscript-3

I don't know whether it's the right place to put this up. But I've been trying from past 12 hours and haven't found anything related.
I'm creating a Adobe AIR project (which'll run on desktop), it'll ask for image locations on the local pc.
After the user is done selecting images. I want to output a SWF video (slideshow) of the selected images.
How to do the second step. Please guide. I want to create an output file (SWF) from my AIR Flex Desktop Application.

Check out https://github.com/claus/as3swf to compile SWFs at runtime...
This individual seems to have had a similar issue AS3 to Generate Dynamic SWF?

You can try following options from SWFtools
JPEG2SWF Takes one or more JPEG pictures and generates a SWF slideshow from them. Supports motion estimation compression (h.263) for better compression of video sequences.
PNG2SWF Like JPEG2SWF, only for PNGs.
GIF2SWF Converts GIFs to SWF. Also able to handle animated gifs.

Here is what I did :
Install the as3 compiler (mxmlc)
Run the command mxmlc.exe sample.as3 using NativeProcess

Creating Preloader for SWF in AS3 Flash Builder

I'm a relatively new developer in AS3 using Flash Builder. My objective is to create a quick/fast loading small SWF preloader for a larger (30mg) SWF application. I can't include the larger SWF inside the preloader, but I can use external interface calls to get jquery to tell me what the speed of internet the users are using and figure out how long it should take to load based on the size of the larger SWF.
Right now, we have a large web application that takes around 5 mins to load if the client has a slow internet connection. So, we wanted to use a small SWF preloader that will display a loading circle or loading bar, and display options if the SWF takes longer than 5 mins to load. Kind of like error handling. For instance, for Safari, sometimes the player actually has to click the SWF in order for it to load. Is it possible to have a button on the SWF that will make it start loading?... Is it easier to create the preloader in jQuery? I'm just wondering if it's just going to create more issues using a SWF to load a SWF. Any ideas?...
Any ideas on how to tackle this beast? I've read almost every article about preloaders but there is nothing that references preloaders created in Flash Builder.
I can't use Flash Professional or timeline. It has to be in Flash Builder.
So I tried to use the below tutorial and I wasn't able to actually get anything to appear when I test it. I'm getting an error at the "run()" function:
Error: Error #2136: The SWF file http://local.myproj.com/MyProject.swf contains invalid data.

I worked until two years ago with a lot of these things and I know I have a few good scripts in my databases, but you are talking about Preloaded & activated loading were as in a preloader it is out of the hands of say a visitor what he or she can or cannot do, and in using a button (possible of course) the visitor has a choice to download or not! From memory there was never really a lot published yet over years of using Flex Builder I have collected some good AS3 scripts and modified them (including a progress-bar - but without time Indicator) to download in web Apps. or FLEX AIR etc. with AS3.
The small problem would only be to adapt any of it from mx to fx depending on what FLEX Builder you use!
I used my scripts mainly to download high resolution Images, Calendars, SWFs etc. with up to compressed 22 mB! Anyway, if Interested I have to look up my FLEX databases & Application to get it to you! rgs Aktell

AS3: Recording sound as they are output/played

I understand how to record microphone input in AS3 from this doc.
Is it possible to record sound exactly as they are being output/played?
The reason is I applied some sound transform (via the global SoundMixer) to sounds that are currently playing; and I also want to record this sound data while it is being played.
I just saw this question, to clarify, I am not trying to record just all sounds on the user's computer (which is not possible). My flash app has a Youtube player in it (via their AS3 API), and it's playing some sounds. I applied transforms using SoundMixer.soundTransform, and I want to record what's being played when the user is playing it.
Thanks in advance.
Just a passing suggestion.. on my desktop it seems ABLE to record sound into Flash from a different tab playing Youtube (HTML5).. I don't know how it's doing that!!
I allow microphone here.. (none actually plugged in, and speaker out has in-ear headphones)
http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/create-a-useful-audio-recorder-app-in-actionscript-3--active-5836
PS: Anyone trying this must reduce Windows volume since anything above 10-20% is distorted audio into the Flash app.
And this HTML5 youtube trailer was recorded fine into the Wav file produced by Flash app above

So after a quick search it seems my Realtek Audio is classed as a Full-Duplex soundcard and also within its own control panel I have an option called "Multi-streaming" which is enabled/ticked. I think Full-Duplex is enough to do this though. Try options within your soundcard's own settings software. Don't know about your end-users. Some hardware will do it, some wont, there is no all-round solution outside of AIR (which makes desktop apps out of your AS3 code).

as3 air convert sequence of bitmaps to flv

It's posible convert an image sequence (jpg, png) to .flv (or .mp4 instead), using AS3/AIR?
I'm developing an app. This app must record video on an Android tablet.
As the "CameraUI" class doesn't permit to put images/design over the camera capture, and I need to overlay branded design,
I'm trying to save a sequence of bitmaps using this Starling extension (Using this extension I can overlay desing and it's manage a good performance).
My idea is take the generated image sequence, convert it to video, and then to delete the original bitmap files.
Any idea?
Thanks.
Yes this is possible. FLV is an open format. Easiest way is to create raw flv. Otherwise you need to search for the proper compression (there are libraries online).
For the first one, there are a few very old posts, but I think the idea is the same. Few can be found here:
http://www.zeropointnine.com/blog/simpleflvwriteras-as3-class-to-create-flvs/
http://www.joristimmerman.be/wordpress/2008/12/18/flvrecorder-record-to-flv-using-air/
Try to search for 'flv recorder'. There are few out, even with compression and audio.

MediaScannerConnection for AS3/AIR?

import android.media.MediaScannerConnection;
import android.media.MediaScannerConnection.MediaScannerConnectionClient;
These are classes available in Java to refresh the detected images on an SD card on an Android device.
If you save an image to the SD card, it's there, but not visible unless you mount the device, unmount the device. These Java classes fix that problem.
But I'm building an App using AS3 and AIR, does anyone know the equivalent classes for AIR, AS3?
You can use Adobe Air's File class to poke around the device (also cf., Working with Files). Once you figure out what code gets you to the USB device, you can load it as a ByteArray and convert that to an image.
If you are looking for image import/conversion code, just search for what you need; there are numerous posts out there, and the answers are fairly standardized.

compile .swf from .as file that defines a sprite

Someone else wrote and gave me an ActionScript source file that defines a subclass of Sprite. I am told that I need to, from this, generate a .swf file whose behavior is entirely defined by that one sprite. In other words, when the "movie" starts, one instance of that Sprite subclass should be created and set running, and it should keep running until the <object> is destroyed. The sprite doesn't define its own dimensions as far as I can tell, so I also need to know how to specify those (it's supposed to cover the entire area of the movie, and ideally that would not be hardwired into the .swf but rather taken from the <object> definition in the HTML).
I know basically nothing about Flash, and I'm much more of a command line guy than an IDE guy, so if there's a way to write the necessary wrapper in a text editor and then just use the Flash IDE to compile it (or better still, compile it using some sort of command line utility that either came with CS4 or I can install on my Linux box, without paying Adobe an additional arm and leg), detailed instructions on how to do that would be the ideal answer to this question. Failing that, please provide step by step instructions for how to create said wrapper in the IDE. I've got CS4.
The sprite tries to communicate with the containing HTML document, so if there's any glue needed inside the .swf but outside the .as code to achieve that, I need to know how to implement that too.
Since you already have CS4 you can compile your source file by using the DocumentClass.

Alternatively, for future reference , if you download the free Flex SDK , you could use the command line to compile your source file
mxmlc SourceFile.as
You can then use SWFObject to embed the resulting swf file in your HTML page
