I'm trying to develope a bash script that launches google-chrome with a installed extension called LiveReload, which is used to monitor web changes. The point is when a web page is open you have to trigger LiveReload to start monitoring, and I want to do that automatically.
Is it possible?
The most straightforward way is just to embed the livereload.js script directly in your page(s) during development:
<script src="js/vendor/livereload.js?host=localhost&port=32579"></script>
If you leave out the host and port params, LiveReload will infer them from the src attribute of the script tag. If you add the query param LR-verbose to the URL of your page (not the livereload.js tag), LiveReload will dump useful debugging info to the console attached to your page. E.g., http://localhost:8080/nextbigthing/ideas.html?LR-verbose
Since you're just manually loading the same file that the LiveReload extension would (either from its internal fallback copy, or from your LiveReload server), this behaves just as if you'd clicked the browser action button.

I have created manifest.json to a site to enable to save the web app icon on a desktop.
My developer website is over http - Which doesn't work when I click on add to home screen from application tab.
I am getting console error:
Site cannot be installed: the page is not served from a secure origin
The same code works over https.
How can I simply bypass this issue in http
Note : I have followed the following step in chrome browser, it didnt resolve my issue.
Stackoverflow previously Question
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
chrome://flags/#unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure
enabled and add site origin
The problem was service workers will only register and install on the secure origin. So followed following steps:
1) Go to chrome.exe path in the program files create shortcut of the chrome on the desktop
2) right click on the shortcut - Go to properties - update the target with the below changes
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure=http://wzy.xyz.com,http://x.xyz.com --user-data-dir=/anydirectory/
Note: Make sure that you google chrome executable file is present in the above mentioned location.
Also this is only to test in the local environment.
I am trying to get started on debugging my Polymer application. I have hand crafted it by copying what I think the PolymerCLI Polymer init does.
I am not sure what is loading service worker. The default one for development just does a console.info() call saying its been disabled for development.
When I use Polymer serve to serve my application on localhost: 8080, I get the console.info message, despite there being nowhere where I actually load the file service-worker.js . Because the application is much more complex (and I am trying to use http/2) I have my own node based server as well. When I run that and then fetch my application in the browser, service-worker.js does not get loaded and run.
What is Polymer serve doing to enable it?
It could be that a different application which used the same source (e.g. localhost:8080) registered and installed a service worker.
Open up the Application panel in Chrome Canary to inspect / delete the service worker.
If you can't access Chrome Canary, open chrome://serviceworker-internals, find the scope that matches your app, and click Unregister. There's also an option at the top of serviceworker-internals which lets you open a DevTools window and pause JS on the SW. Enable that option and you'll be able to see which SW is running.
I am trying to build a (single page) local portal in Chrome that opens several things.
The problem is we want to run a local executable via a button on a (local) webpage. Is this possible?
The second thing is that i want to do is to run a .pps file directly in the powerpoint viewer.
I can control to the startup of chrome, so i can access local files.
All things i tried so far only made the file(s) to download, not to run.
Can somebody help me how i get this done?
You can set a protocol like myapp://launch/activity or the like to automatically launch your app by setting up a registry key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT with the name of your protocol and the action it should take.
There is a MSDN article showing the following example of a registry for an alert protocol:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
alert
(Default) = "URL:Alert Protocol"
URL Protocol = ""
DefaultIcon
(Default) = "alert.exe,1"
shell
open
command
(Default) = "C:\Program Files\Alert\alert.exe" "%1"
Which would then be called by requesting a url with alert:YOURPARAMS, which would then call alert.exe YOURPARAMS.
I build and run my typescript application by Grunt and connect(grunt-contrib-connect) and livereload plugins. While grunt compile .ts files, it also generate sourcemap. My application is oppening on google chrome. How can I remotely connect by Intellij Idea to this application that was run by Grunt and oppened in Chrome for perform debug?
This post is my last hope, that it is possible. Thanks
create a new javascript debug run configuration
in URL field, specify the URL of your client app (http://localhost:9001/index.html or whatever it looks like)
if your local project structure doesn't exactly match the app structure on server (for example, static files are served from <project_root>/public folder), specify remote URL mappings (see http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/WI/Starting+a+JavaScript+debug+session#StartingaJavaScriptdebugsession-Startingadebugsessionwhenusingadifferentwebserver)
that should be enough... Start grunt, and, when the server is up and running, debug the configuration above
Thank you. I found solution.
First of all, I need Jet Brains extension for Chrome.
I need to make configure debug mode "JavaScript debug" and specify URL that grunt will run and open application.
Run Grunt task that build and open application in browser.
Run debug mode that just reload same page under debugger already.
Don't forget enjoy it.
Since I use typescript, ability to debug in IDE was very important.
I have the windows application installed, Live Reload extension for chrome and i'm using Sublime Text with Live Refresh and Live Reload plugins. For some reason any HTML doc i edit on sublime text is not auto updating on chrome. The extension is stuck on "Live Reload is connecting" when i enable it. What exactly am i missing, do i need to setup a local web server or something like that?
I think your issue may be that you did not add the folder that contains your HTML document to the LiveReload windows application so that it can monitor for changes to the file.
If you open up the LiveReload app, it should have a list of site folders. Try adding your test project's folder to the list.
If you load from local file it does work you must runt the local file through a web server e.g python -m http.server in the folder your .html exists otherwise the option match to local file never appears and then you can have the save and reload functionality.
I mention it because I hadn't found the problem through reading the post
