Issues I'm having:
When I decided to take the borders off the css the header area gets smaller (which i do not want to happen). - I want to take off the border lines without moving anything around.
When I place an image into the header(it stretches and does not display correctly). Also over the image, I want to place a text is that possible?
Also, if you go onto the menu page, you will see that the thumbnails are not aligned, why is that?
Here is the website: http://younani.com/finalsite/finalindex.html
Here is my css:

I am setting up a new web page and making a horizontal menu. The hypertext is made by 2 words. It should be in one row, but actually one word = 1 row. I have here in CSS a hover effect over it, whenever the hover effect works, the hypertext is in this moment in one row. I am a little bit lost and confused. I don't know what to change, can you help me?
I have already tried changing in CSS display attribute to table, block, solid. Also I have tried min-width, with hopes that text will expand on one line, but it didn't helped at all. Also I tried to change margin and padding but nothing changed.

The a tag width has been limited in normal state:
#panel a{
display: block;
width: 100px; --> this line
height: 30px;
color: black;
font-size: 120%;
font-weight: bold;
text-decoration: none;
padding: 6px 185px 6px 4px;
margin: 5px 0px 0px 0px;
background: rgb(153,153,153);
}
You could remove the line width: 100px; because display:block will set the element width to 100% of its container.
the width in your a tag selector in CSS was limiting the width of the elements forcing a text wrap. this fixes it

A live version is at: http://quickid.net/test2/ideaboard2.html ... You can see that the right side of the input box and the text box are both getting cut off and their right borders are not showing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Add box-sizing property to input and text-area and style accordingly
CSS
.add_idea_box_right_top input[type="text"],
.add_idea_box_right_top textarea{
box-sizing:border-box;
}
hope this helps..
It's because you have set all of these properties on your input element:
width: 100%
padding: 10px
border: 2px
So the input element takes up 100% of the width and it also has 10px padding both left and right on top of that and 2px border on top of that. They all add up so the total width of your element is more than 100% of the width of the containing element.
Try modifying the padding of this class, so try this one.
FROM THIS:
.add_idea_box_right {
overflow: hidden;
text-align: left;
min-height: 200px;
padding: 20px 0px 0px 25px;
border-left: solid 1px #bab6b6;
}
TO THIS:
.add_idea_box_right {
overflow: hidden;
text-align: left;
min-height: 200px;
padding: 20px 25px 0px 25px;
border-left: solid 1px #bab6b6;
}
Let me know if it helped you.
It is because 100% width as suggested is interfering with some of the padding, reduce the width to a smaller percentage and center your input field for it to scale better with increasing resolutions.
Edit: If you inspect element on mozilla you can clearly see where the overlap happens with the pick element thing!
I have a 3 column layout which is successfully giving me 3 columns; however, my third column (similar to my first column) needs margin and padding changes. Unfortunately, I seem unable to adjust margin and padding for that column. I'm not really sure the issue and googling is bringing me no answers.

Any insight would be awesome as to why I was so easily able to adjust the left-most column but not the right-most. Thanks.
Your styles on aside are being ignored because the .row div selector is more specific, and therefore overriding margin and padding to zero.
Adding this should make it work:
.right .aside {
margin: 25px;
padding: 25px;
}
You just need higher specificity because you've used .row div with margin: 0; padding: 0;. So to override that CSS with a margin or padding change, you will need to use .row in front of a selector like .col-3, so that the rule is .row .col-3 { /* margin/padding *}
You can read more about specificity here - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Specificity
My code: https://jsfiddle.net/k0hqzcwg/
I'm not understanding why the message button is moving outside of the parent div. I've tried clearing floats both with adding clear: both, and adding a clearfix class but have not gotten any results.
In summary, I am trying to start a competing video sharing service with Youtube, my immense skill in CSS and Html are sure to pull through and give me the one up. Sarcasm
Any tips are welcome, I know I have a lot to learn.

border: 1px solid #D3D3D3;
border-radius: 2px;
display:inline-block;
padding: 0px 13px;
box-sizing: border-box;
line-height:normal;
}
#headingavatar{
width: 45px;
height: 45px;
display:inline-block;
}
Float the button left.
Here:
#headingmessagebutton {
background-color: #F8F8F8;
color: #333;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 11px;
float: left;
height: 28px;
box-shadow: 0px 1px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.05);
border: 1px solid #D3D3D3;
border-radius: 2px;
display: inline-block;
padding: 0px 13px;
box-sizing: border-box;
line-height: normal;
}
I would use a button instead and float it: Fiddle
I'm having trouble finding out why the right section of the header goes under the left section when you zoom out in Safari, Chrome and Opera.
Here is the demo of the header.
If you open the demo in safari, chrome or opera you'll see that the right section of the header goes beneath the left section of the header.
I want to make the header stay in one line when you zoom out in different browsers.
Here is the code I have.
HTML:
<body class="body">
<div id="white-background">
<div class='top-head'>
<div class='left'>
<a class="logo"></a>
<div id="search">
<form id="searchbox">
<input type="text" id="search-bar" required placeholder="What are you looking for?">
<input type="submit" id="submit" value="Search">
</form> <!-- end of form id -->
</div> <!-- end of search id -->
</div> <!-- end of left class -->
<div class='right'>
<a class="login" href="#" alt="Login">Login</a>
<a class="create-account" href="#" alt="create-account">Create Account</a>
<div class="language-wrapper">
<a class="language-icon" href="#" alt="choose-your-language">Language
<div class="arrow-up"></div>
<div class="arrow-down"></div>
</a>
<a class="delivery-country-icon" href="#" alt="choose-your-delivery-country">Delivery Country
<div class="arrow-up"></div>
<div class="arrow-down"></div>
</a>
</div> <!-- end of right class -->
</div> <!-- end of top-head -->
</div><!-- end of white-background class -->
</div> <!-- end of body class -->

You can fix this by setting fixed widths for the child elements (inputs, etc..).
But why would you zoom to 25%?
