I'm using this example to set up a route with more then 8 markers.

It works like a charm but I have problem to setup an infowindow for each waypoint. I would like to leave markers names like A , B ,C or generate it in otherway but to keep A,B,C or 1,2,3 pattern and I want to add infowindow to each marker which contains title text and link.
I was trying to find any info or examples but nothing works. Maybe someone have and idea how to easily add infowindow to this code.

Here is an example that draws the directions from scratch with custom markers and infowindows:
Example
If you use the suppressInfoWindows option on the DirectionsRenderer, you can just use the part of it that creates the markers and their associated infowindows.
Working example based on your code

I tired to take this working example found here http://www.geocodezip.com/SO_OverQueryLimitB.html and add the following code into it:
///get array of markers currently in cluster
var allMarkers = mc.getMarkers();
//check to see if any of the existing markers match the latlng of the new marker
if (allMarkers.length != 0) {
for (i=0; i < allMarkers.length; i++) {
var existingMarker = allMarkers[i];
var pos = existingMarker.getPosition();
if (latlng.equals(pos)) {
text = text + " & " + content[i];
}
}
}
So that the final result when you click on a marker that has the same latlng it would display one info window with the merged text like the one found here http://maps.caseypthomas.org/ex/MarkerClustererPlus/exCoincidentMarkers_SharedInfowindow_wGeocoding.html See it shows the number 4 but displays only 3 markers that's because the one on the right side is merged with another one behind it and when you click on it it shows you the text for both. only I would like to use geocodezip's example and work on top of that since I already have the cords and don't need google to go get them for me.
Thank you for just reading this LONG Question if noting else..
and Thank you 1Mill X over if you can help me find a solution.
Thanks again!!!
You need to :
create the marker clusterer first.
add the markers to the MarkerClusterer (and format your code so it is easier to read...).
function createMarker(latlng,text) {
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: latlng,
map: map
});
///get array of markers currently in cluster
var allMarkers = mc.getMarkers();
//check to see if any of the existing markers match the latlng of the new marker
if (allMarkers.length != 0) {
for (i=0; i < allMarkers.length; i++) {
var existingMarker = allMarkers[i];
var pos = existingMarker.getPosition();
if (latlng.equals(pos)) {
text = text + " & " + content[i];
}
}
}
google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() {
infowindow.close();
infowindow.setContent(text);
infowindow.open(map,marker);
});
mc.addMarker(marker);
return marker;
}

requestDirections('EC1V 0AH', '(51.47615506206120, -0.37795315370703)');
}
you need to create an instance of google.maps.DirectionsRenderer(); EVERYTIME you draw the route to make it visible ;)
Your directionsDisplay variable is an instance of google.maps.DirectionsRenderer() and that can only hold one set of directions at a time. If you want to display more than one route, you need multiple google.maps.DirectionsRenderer().
To get multiple routes we can add provideRouteAlternatives = true inside request object while calling route() of DirectionsService object. See Directions Requests.
This method will return array of routes if available with their name in summary key.
Now we can display these routes on view and on click of each route we can pass route object and can render the direction by setDirections() of DirectionsRenderer object. See Displaying the DirectionsResult

I tired to take this working example found here http://www.geocodezip.com/SO_OverQueryLimitB.html and add the following code into it:
///get array of markers currently in cluster
var allMarkers = mc.getMarkers();
//check to see if any of the existing markers match the latlng of the new marker
if (allMarkers.length != 0) {
for (i=0; i < allMarkers.length; i++) {
var existingMarker = allMarkers[i];
var pos = existingMarker.getPosition();
if (latlng.equals(pos)) {
text = text + " & " + content[i];
}
}
}
You need to :
create the marker clusterer first.
add the markers to the MarkerClusterer (and format your code so it is easier to read...).
function createMarker(latlng,text) {
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: latlng,
map: map
});
///get array of markers currently in cluster
var allMarkers = mc.getMarkers();
//check to see if any of the existing markers match the latlng of the new marker
if (allMarkers.length != 0) {
for (i=0; i < allMarkers.length; i++) {
var existingMarker = allMarkers[i];
var pos = existingMarker.getPosition();
if (latlng.equals(pos)) {
text = text + " & " + content[i];
}
}
}
google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() {
infowindow.close();
infowindow.setContent(text);
infowindow.open(map,marker);
});
mc.addMarker(marker);
return marker;
}

Google maps directions with more detailed points

Currently if I search for a route using the DirectionsService it will return me a route with 1 or more legs, and each leg contains multiple steps. Each step seems to correspond to turns in a road. For example, if I drive 2km along street 1 and street1 is entirely a straight road, it will only contain two points (steps) that I can traverse over on that street. The first step will be where the journey along street 1 begins and the next step will be where the journey ends. This makes sense, but unfortunately I'm animating a journey along a map with a marker. This results in huge jumps on the map when there are long straight steps in the journey.
Is there any way to get more detailed steps so that the distance (by road) between each step will be more or less linear?
You can move along the straight line between vertices on the polyline.
See this example for one way to do that.

Google Maps and RouteBoxer will not display polygon lines

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! I'm using RouteBoxer in Google Maps API V3, but for some reason I can't get the lines to appear. I'm concerned that the function isn't running at all, and it's necessary for the next step of my project: passing lat and long to find pois along the route. Seeing the lines on the map will help me make sure it's running correctly.
Here is my code
<script>
var directionsDisplay;
var directionsService = new google.maps.DirectionsService();
var map;
var routeBoxer = null;
var boxpolys = null;
var rdistance = 20; // km
function initialize() {
//directionspanelstuff
//directionsdisplaystuff
//mapoptions
map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), mapOptions);
directionsDisplay.setMap(map);
routeBoxer = new RouteBoxer();
}
function calcRoute() {
//startendwaypoints
directionsService.route(request, function(response, status) {
if (status == google.maps.DirectionsStatus.OK) {
directionsDisplay.setDirections(response);
var route = response.routes[0];
var summaryPanel = document.getElementById("directions_panel");
// Box the overview path of the first route
var path = result.routes[0].overview_path;
var boxes = routeBoxer.box(path, rdistance);
clearBoxes();
drawBoxes(boxes);
for (var i = 0; i < boxes.length; i++) {
var bounds = box[i];
// Perform search over this bounds
}
}
});
}
// Draw the array of boxes as polylines on the map
function drawBoxes(boxes) {
boxpolys = new Array(boxes.length);
for (var i = 0; i < boxes.length; i++) {
boxpolys[i] = new google.maps.Rectangle({
bounds: boxes[i],
fillOpacity: 0,
strokeOpacity: 1.0,
strokeColor: '#000000',
strokeWeight: 1,
map: map
});
}
}
// Clear boxes currently on the map
function clearBoxes() {
if (boxpolys != null) {
for (var i = 0; i < boxpolys.length; i++) {
boxpolys[i].setMap(null);
}
}
boxpolys = null;
}
</script>
There are 4 javascript errors pointed out by the javascript console:
mapOptions is not defined (probably not a real problem)
directionsDisplay is null (not initialized)
result is undefined (typo, or cut and paste error)
box is undefined (typo)
