does as3xls library handles hyperlink in excel file..? - actionscript-3

Is "as3xls library" capable of handling a hyper link in excel file, is there any other library which i can use for importing data from .xlsx file. as3xls is limited to .xls only.

.xlsx files are basically just XML files that are mapped to each other and zipped up into a zip archive. The way I have dealt with them is to use something like nochump's zip library to unpack them, and then traverse the contained XML yourself. Other than that, I don't know of any libraries set up to deal with xlsx files directly (you are correct that as3xls only deals with the older, more difficult binary xls format). You may find some resources such as the OOXML spec helpful as well.

Autodesk Forge download object, but cannot tell if it is a Revit model or zip file

I was downloading Revit models from BIM360 team hub via ForgeAPI using the following uri.
https://developer.api.autodesk.com/oss/v2/buckets/:bucketKey/objects/:objectName
All my objectName ended with .rvt. So I downloaded and saved them as rvt file.
However I noticed that some of the files cannot be opened by Revit. They are actually not rvt files but zip files. So I have to change the extension to .zip and unzip the file to get real 'rvt` files.
My Problem is that not all files is zip file. I cannot tell from the API because the URI I request is always ended with .rvt.
Every Unix OS provides the file command, a standard utility program for recognising the type of data contained in a computer file:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_(command)
A zip file is directly recognised and reported like this:
$ file test_dataset.zip
test_dataset.zip: Zip archive data, at least v2.0 to extract
A Revit RVT model is a Windows compound document file, so it generates the following output:
$ file little_house_2021.rvt
little_house_2021.rvt: Composite Document File V2 Document, Cannot read section info
Hence you can use the same algorithm as file does to distinguish between RVT and ZIP files.
Afaik, file just looks at the first couple of bytes in the given file.
The Python programming language offers similar utilities; try an Internet search
for distinguish file type python; the first hits explain

and point to the filetype Python project.
Other programming languages can provide similar functionality.

How to bulk import documents with custom metadata from csv to Alfresco repo?

I have an excel file (or csv), that holds a list of documents with their properties and absolute paths in local hard drive.
Now that we are going to use Alfresco (v5.0.d) as DMS, I have already created a custom aspect which reflect the csv fields and I'm looking for a better approach to import all document from the csv file into Alfresco repository.
You could simply write java application to parse your csv and upload files, file by file using the RESTful api and do not forget to replicate the folder tree in your alfresco repo (as it is not recommended to have more than 1000 folders/documents on the same level in the hierarchy since it would require some tweaking in a few non trivial usecases).
To create the folder, refer to this answer.
To actually upload the files, refer to my answer here.

Creating a CSV file with the Report Generation Toolkit in Labview

I want to create .csv files with the Report Generation Toolkit in Labview.
They must actually be .csv files which can be opened with Notepad or something similar.
Creating a .csv is not that hard, it's just a matter of adding the extension to the file name that's going to be created.
If I create a .csv file this way it opens nicely in excel just the way it should, but if I open it in Notepad it shows all kind of characters and it doesn't even come close to the data I wrote to the file.
I create the files with the Labview code below:
Link to image (can't post image yet because I've got to few points)
I know .csv files can be created with the Write to Spreadsheet VI but I would like to use the Report Generation Toolkit because it's pretty easy to add columns and rows to the file and that is something I really need.
you can use the Robust CSV package on the lavag.org forum to read and write 2D arrays to CSV files.
http://lavag.org/files/file/239-robust-csv/
Calling a file "csv" does not make it a CSV file. I never used the toolkit to generate an Excel file, but I'm assuming it creates an XLS or XLSX file, regardless of what extension you give it, which is why you're seeing gibberish (probably XLS, since it's been around for a while and I believe XLSX is XML, not binary).
I'm not sure what your problem is with the write spreadsheet VI. It has an append input, so I assume you can use that to at least add rows directly to a file, although I can't say I ever tried it. I would prefer handling all the data in memory explicitly, where you can easily use the array functions to add rows or columns to the array and then overwrite the entire file.

How to extract hhp file from a chm file

I have an A.chm file for my windows application which runs as expected.
When I decompile it using HTML workshop I get set of html files, .hhc file, .hhk file. When I compile another file B.chm from these extracted files without changing any of the files.((I want to add more html contents to this file but looks like I am losing some information after decompiling)) The output file I get is 72K where as the original file was 75K. B.chm's contents look all file when viewed in the chm viewer but the behavior is lost when when used with the application.
After reading around I found that if .hhp can be extracted from a .chm file then it can be re-constructed as it is without losing any mapping or aliases. Is that true?
How can I extract .hhp file from a .chm file?
Thanks,
Sam
No, Yes , and no.
The original hhp can't be guaranteed extracted
however since chm is an archive type, the project could have added all project files to the archive. I assume you already would have found them if that were the case.
If the decompile process does its administration, it can regenerate the .hhp to a certain degree.
Comments and #define names will probably be lost though, maybe more, but that should not result in problems when recompiling.
But of course it could be that the decompiler is limited. You could try some other (search for something from "keytools").
If not, then take "chmlib" and start drilling down into the format.

(OpenXML) Add data pages to xml package without framework

lately I've been into combining multiple OpenXML speadsheets via PHPExcel which
showed me that this framework has certain issues which makes it pretty much unusable
for what I want to do (my related SO question).
To make it short: it's hard to guarantee that all formatting features of Excel 2007 will
persist a file merge performed with that particular framework.
Anways, now I'm thinking of a more general approach. I want to open a template XLSX
which contains various formatting and add some plain alphanumeric data worksheets 'at the end' of the workbook.
Is sensefully possible to do the following:
unzip template XLSX
parse XML files
add worksheets
save xml files
rezip files to get valuid XLSX
Any hints or experiences would be highly appreciated.
thanks in advance
K
I haven't worked with .xlsx too much, but I've altered .docx files by manually adding and editing the XML.
The biggest concern with adding new parts to a document is to make sure you update the .rels files. The best way to figure out what needs to be updated is to create a new .xlsx document in Excel, add a worksheet, save the file and then unzip it to see what has changed. You can also use the DocumentReflector tool that comes with the OpenXML SDK if you want to see the internals of the file without having to unzip it.
I found the OpenXML reference manual very helpful when hand editing files because it tells you what elements you have to keep and what elements are optional to make a valid document. It makes it easier to work with when you can remove some of the extraneous elements that Excel adds automatically.
