The following is a cut from my registration page. How can i make all the text-fields aligned ?
This form looks ugly.
Use a table with two cells
then do CSS text-align to have them aligned. For the button you can use colspan=2 and put it in the center.
I know tables are not for layout, but from my experiences they are the easiest to align fields with.
<style type="text/css">
body,input,label{`padding:0;
margin:0;`}
body > div{`background-color: #171717;
border: 1px solid #CCCCCC;
border-radius: 20px;
box-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #CCCCCC;
padding: 20px;
margin: 10px 10px;
width: 310px;
margin:30px auto;`}
input {`display: block;
width:150px;
float: left;
padding: 8px;
margin-bottom: 10px;
border: solid 1px #999;
border-radius: 5px;
font: normal 12px Arial;`}
label{`display: block;
width: 130px;
text-align: right;
float: left;
padding: 11px 10px 0 0;
font:bold 13px Verdana;
color:white;`}
button {`display: block;
margin-top:10px;
margin-left:140px;
width:50px;`}
</style>
</head>
<label>First Name</label><input name="txt" type="text" />
<label>Last Name</label><input name="txt" type="text" />
<label>Email</label><input name="txt" type="text" />
<label>Password</label><input name="txt" type="password" />
<label>Retype Password</label><input name="txt" type="password" />
<button>Send</button>
</form>
</div>

Could someone help me? I am with this form trying to centralize all fields in it. I've tried a bunch of different stuff, and I've noticed that the code works differently inside the theme that I am using. Is there another way to do it rather than margin: 0 auto;? Any help will be really appreciated. Here is the url. Thank you

As your #instant-quote-form is as wide as its parent, centering this element will not do anything. What you will need to do is to center the <form> inside of its container. This can be done by applying display:flex to #instant-quote-form and then margin:0 auto to #instant-quote-form > form:
#instant-quote-form {
display: flex;
}
#instant-quote-form > form {
margin: 0 auto;
}
Try enclosing your <form> within <center> tag
Additionally, If you want the form with elements in a vertically aligned fashion then set float to none for each direct child of your <form>
If this isn't what you were looking for, please elaborate your issue and expected outcome.
What I want is to make my page a little responsive for desktop browsers.
For example, when I decrease the width of the browser, the left and right portion of the page should be stacked over each other. Please check the code, you'll understand. The outerLeft and outerRight div are floated left and right respectively. When I decrease the width of browser, outerRight goes below outerLeft, which is good. But then the problem is with footer and copyright (last two divs at bottom) divs. These do not get displaced because of the outerRight div. I want them to be below outerRight. How can I do this?

You need to give it a clear: both just this!
<div style="font-family: calibri;text-align: center;color: black;font-size: 16px;padding: 5px 0px 5px 0px;clear: both;"><a style="text-decoration: none; color: black; display: block;" href="login.php">WinkCage © 2016</a></div>
jsFiddle
Note: I suggest you to do not use inline-css
Not sure what you want..
Since you have an element with height 94% - I'd say you always want to see that footer (being fixed on the bottom..) and generate the scroll just for that outer element.
If that's what you want, you can just include an overflow: auto in the .outer class.
.outer {
max-width: 1024px;
margin: 0 auto;
height: 94%;
display: block;
overflow: auto;
}
Take a look here..

I have a login form with labels and input, i can not get the labels to go on the left and input on the right. Currently they are sitting on top of each other.
Here is the HTML:
<div class="login">
<form name="login" action="submit" method="get" accept- charset="utf-8">
<label for="usermail">Username</label>
<input type="email" name="usermail" placeholder="yourname#email.com" required>
<label for="password">Password</label>
<input type="password" name="password" placeholder="password" required>
<input type="submit" value="Login">
</form>
</div>
Here is the CSS:
form {
margin:auto;
position:relative;
width:375px;
height:250px;
font-family: Lucida Sans, Geneva, sans-serif;
font-size: 14px;
font-style: italic;
line-height: 24px;
font-weight: bold;
text-decoration: none;
-webkit-border-radius: 10px;
-moz-border-radius: 10px;
border-radius: 10px;
padding:10px;
border: 1px solid #999;
border: inset 1px solid #333;
}
input { float:right;
width:350px;
display:block;
border: 1px solid #999;
height: 25px;
}
Here is the JSFiddle https://jsfiddle.net/ojz87d0x/
On input, change display:block; to display:inline-block;, and add the following:
label {
display: inline-block;
float:left;
clear:both;
}
input[type="submit"] {
clear: both;
}
You'll also need to make sure that the width of the input and the width of the form are different enough to allow space for the label. In this example [in the fiddle]. I set input to 275px and form to 375px.
Here's a newer update to your fiddle.
First of all, the inputs are too wide for both the labels and inputs to be next to each other inside the form. So either widen the form or shorten the inputs.
Next, add float: left to the labels.
form {
margin: auto;
position: relative;
width: 375px;
height: 250px;
font-family: Lucida Sans, Geneva, sans-serif;
font-size: 14px;
font-style: italic;
line-height: 24px;
font-weight: bold;
text-decoration: none;
-webkit-border-radius: 10px;
-moz-border-radius: 10px;
border-radius: 10px;
padding: 10px;
border: 1px solid #999;
border: inset 1px solid #333;
}
input {
float: right;
width: 300px; /*smaller width*/
display: block;
border: 1px solid #999;
height: 25px;
}
label {
float: left;
margin-top: 3px;
<div class="login">
<form name="login" action="submit" method="get" accept- charset="utf-8">
<label for="usermail">Username</label>
<input type="email" name="usermail" placeholder="yourname#email.com" required>
<label for="password">Password</label>
<input type="password" name="password" placeholder="password" required>
<input type="submit" value="Login">
</form>
</div>
I am having trouble with applying a style in my input box.
I have header.css here
#charset "utf-8";
body, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, p, div, ul, li {
margin:0;
padding:0;
}
body { font family: Verdana; background-color: #FFFFFF }
#Wrapper {
width: auto;
height:2000px;
margin: 0 auto;
}
#divHeader {
position:0px;
width: 100%;
height: 180px;
background:url(thisheader/header_1.png)
}
#divHeader2 {
position: 180px;
width: 100%;
height: 200px;
background: url(thisheader/SMCFIbanner.png);
}
#box {
background: white;
border: 1px solid #DDD;
border-radius: 1px;
box-shadow: 0 0 3px #DDD inset;
color: #666;
padding: 5px 10px;
width: 185px;
outline: none;
}
when I try to apply the style to the textbox for the password and username using the header.css, it wont apply. I created a new css file just to check, yes.css:
input#box {
background: white;
border: 1px solid #DDD;
border-radius: 1px;
box-shadow: 0 0 3px #DDD inset;
color: #666;
padding: 5px 10px;
width: 165px;
outline: none;
}
log.php
<div>
<form method="post" action="checkLogin.php">
<label>Username</label>
<input type="text" value="" name="myusername" size="20%" class="input_field" title="username" id="box" />
<br>
<br>
<label>Password</label>
<input type="password" value="" name="mypassword" class="input_field" title="password" id="box" />
<br>
<br>
<input type="submit" name="login" value="Login" alt="login" id="submit_btn" title="Login" />
</form>
</div>
and when i try to link this one in my log.php, it worked.
what might be the problem ?
First off, you should not have multiple elements on page with the same id. In this case, both your login and password fields have an ID of "box". Use class instead. You may be better off doing:
<div id='box'>
<form method="post" action="checkLogin.php">
<label>Username</label>
<input type="text" value="" name="myusername" size="20%" class="input_field" title="username" />
<br>
<br>
<label>Password</label>
<input type="password" value="" name="mypassword" class="input_field" title="password"/>
<br>
<br>
<input type="submit" name="login" value="Login" alt="login" id="submit_btn" title="Login" />
</form>
</div>
Then, in the css, do
#box input[type='text']{
blah,blah,blah...
}
The problem could be that you have two elements with the same id.
By the way, you can select to apply the style to all input textfields with this selector.
form input[type=text] {
background: white;
border: 1px solid #DDD;
border-radius: 1px;
box-shadow: 0 0 3px #DDD inset;
color: #666;
padding: 5px 10px;
width: 165px;
outline: none;
}
Try styling the input box like this:
input[type=text] {
background: white;
border: 1px solid #DDD;
border-radius: 1px;
box-shadow: 0 0 3px #DDD inset;
color: #666;
padding: 5px 10px;
width: 185px;
outline: none;
}
I'm working on styling my website forms and found a tutorial that seems to work up to a point... The tutorial includes code to have hover hints, and this code is causing things to get ugly. Instead of the fields all lining up under one another they seem to be attempting to position themselves one right after another and wrapping all the way down the window.
Here is the code element for the feature in question followed by the CSS...
HTML
<form id="defaultform" class="rounded" name="form2" method="post" action="<?php echo $editFormAction; ?>">
<h3>Contact Form</h3>
<div class="field">
<label for="hostess_fname">First Name:</label>
<input type="text" class="input" name="hostess_fname" value="" id="hostess_fname" />
<p class="hint">Enter your name.</p>
</div>
<div class="field">
<label for="email">Last Name:</label>
<input type="text" class="input" name="hostess_fname" value="" id="hostess_lname" />
<p class="hint">Enter your email.</p>
</div>
<input type="submit" value="Lookup Hostess" />
<input type="hidden" name="Lookup" value="form2" />
CSS
#defaultform {
width: 500px;
padding: 20px;
background: #f0f0f0;
overflow:auto;
/* Border style */
border: 1px solid #cccccc;
-moz-border-radius: 7px;
-webkit-border-radius: 7px;
border-radius: 7px;
/* Border Shadow */
-moz-box-shadow: 2px 2px 2px #cccccc;
-webkit-box-shadow: 2px 2px 2px #cccccc;
box-shadow: 2px 2px 2px #cccccc;
}
label {
font-family: Arial, Verdana;
text-shadow: 2px 2px 2px #ccc;
display: block;
float: left;
font-weight: bold;
margin-right:10px;
text-align: right;
width: 120px;
line-height: 25px;
font-size: 15px;
}
#defaultform.input{
font-family: Arial, Verdana;
font-size: 15px;
padding: 5px;
border: 1px solid #b9bdc1;
width: 300px;
color: #797979;
}
.hint{
display: none;
}
.field:hover .hint {
position: absolute;
display: block;
margin: -30px 0 0 455px;
color: #FFFFFF;
padding: 7px 10px;
background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.6);
-moz-border-radius: 7px;
-webkit-border-radius: 7px;
border-radius: 7px;
}
I just updated the code with more of the HTML from a shorter form that I was trying with the same CSS. I also added some more of the CSS code. I'm getting the same behavior. I'm still confused on selectors and how those are defined and stuff.
I see what you're doing now that you've added your code. It's a pretty simple fix, but hard to catch:
CSS
.field{
clear:both;
}
Here's the jsFiddle
