Positioning text inputs? - html

I haven't used forms alot so Im not sure whats going on here.
Im trying to position a text input inline with a button but it doesnt seem to work. You can see what Im doing here:
http://jsfiddle.net/gagalug/BEBAH/
Thanks.

Add this line to your style:
img, input[type=image] {vertical-align: bottom;}
This will prevent baseline issues on images and image-inputs. Solves your problem instantly.
You know, more people really should know about this. Even the guy who writes a site as big as QuirksMode is ignorant of this fact.

Add
input { vertical-align: middle; }

There are various ways.
Positioning relative to the parent div and position absolute to the child.
vertical-align: middle; for both input

Hey i think you want this
option you just define your vertical-align:top;
#text{
height: 40px;
vertical-align: top;
}
live demo http://jsfiddle.net/BEBAH/4/

Modify your CSS as below.
div{
border: 1px solid black;
width: 500px;
height: 50px;
float:left;
}
#text{
height: 40px;
top: 0px;
float:left;
}

Centering Input Elements - Bootstrap Panel

I have having a few problems, with what should be a simple task.
I have spent a good while trying to fix them, but no luck.
Centre the Input boxes within the div - tried this solution, (didn't work): http://jsfiddle.net/pjAHG/27/
input {
display: block;
margin: auto;
max-width: 80%;
}
Make the background image fill the full screen, only to the bottom of my timer div... if I use a solid colour, it fills the screen though :/ I have tried all the ways I can find online, but no luck.
Media query does not seem to change the size of the text/submit button.
If anyone could share some info, or help for these problems, I would be grateful.
Here is my code:

Thanks :)
Try this
.input-group{
max-width:80%;
margin:0 auto;
}
and
#media (max-width:768px) {
.btn-lg{
display:block;
max-width:100%;
white-space:normal;
}
.lead-subtitle {
color: #dbdbdb;
text-decoration: underline;
font-size: 1em;
display:block;
}
}
here is the updated pen.
centered the form element instead of the input fields as they are
set to display: table by bootstrap anyway
this question doesn't make quite sense to me. I have added a sample image and it fills the whole bg, have a look
Bootstrap sets white-space: nowrap for the .btn class; I overwrote it for you

Replace text with stars (*) in html with directives in angularjs

I need a textarea control with mask able property, if the textarea is mask able then the text should appear as stars instead of actual text.
I can have any no of textareas in my form, So i can't save actual text in other variable and save the stars or dots for actual textarea.
Can somebody help me to solve this issue?
As others have already pointed out, it's not possible and should not be done. But here is something which you should give a try. If you really want to achieve it, you'll have to compromise on something. Use contenteditable div instead of input and use following CSS:
Demo: http://jsfiddle.net/GCu2D/793/
CSS:
.checked {
font-size:20px;
position:relative;
display:inline-block;
border:1px solid red;
}
.checked:before {
font-size: inherit;
content:" ";
position: absolute;
top: 0;
bottom: 0;
left: 0;
background-color: #FFF;
width: 100%;
background-image: url("https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b5/Asterisk.svg/32px-Asterisk.svg.png");
background-repeat: repeat-x;
z-index: 1;
background-size: 12px;
background-position: left center;
}
HTML:
<div contenteditable class="checked">Sample Text</div>
Obviously, this is not a perfect solution, but you can start from here.
Note: You will need to adjust the font-size and the image used. Both dimensions needs to be in sync. Ofcourse you can change the size of image using background-size . Border here is just for visual feedback. If you need to adjust the width of the stars, then you may use calc() and play around with the exact dimension.

Aligning checkbox text with checkbox with CSS

I have a fieldset in which I have some input fields and a checkbox. I have the problem that I would like to have a legend directly beside the checkbox. I made it visible on this link:
http://jsfiddle.net/uUtmU/
I worked around and tried using padding-bottom and margin-bottom, without any success.
If there is someone who could help me out, I really would appreciate. Thanks a lot.
Hey now give to input vertical-align: top; as like this
#split input[type="checkbox"] {
vertical-align: top;
width: 10px;
}
you could just absolute the positioning on the terms text and set a margin-top to push it down a little, I found by adding
.tandc {
position:absolute;
margin-top:2px;
}
Hope it helps

CSS vertical-align: middle not working on nav bar with text to the left and login link to the right

I have a page with a header, followed by a (menu/tool) bar underneath, which is supposed to carry two elements: a text to the left (big font) and a login link (smaller text). The right hand link is supposed the be centered vertically.
The following resource seemed to be exactly what I need:
http://www.css4you.de/Texteigenschaften/vertical-align.html
and
http://www.css4you.de/example/vertical-align.html
Here's my HTML:
<div style="border: 1px solid purple;">
<h1 style="border: 1px solid red; display: inline;">Textext</h1>
<span id="logindisplay" style="border: 1px solid lime; float: right; vertical-align: middle;">Log In</span>
</div>
The CSS ID selector for logindisplay doesn't exist. h1 is just
h1
{
font-size: 18pt;
}
I basically did everything as in the resource above, but it doesn't work - neither on IE9 nor on FF. Here's what I get:
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Note: Workarounds/hacks aren't desired. (One would be to set padding-top: on the span...)
Try this
#logindisplay { line-height: 18pt; }
...and get rid of your vertical-align property.
vertical-align doesn't work in the way you thinkit does, it seems. Take a look at http://css-tricks.com/what-is-vertical-align/ for a good explanation of what it does.
Using float:right negates the vertical-align as you found. Mark's suggestion doesn't work with position:relative on the div? In which case, line-height seems like the easiest way.
make your outer div be display: table-cell, or give it a line-height of appropriate size.
vertical-align is one of the stupidest bits of CSS, and rarely works as you'd expect without having to hack up containing elements: http://phrogz.net/css/vertical-align/index.html
A different approach would be putting position relative on the parent div and then absolute position the span like this:
#logindisplay {
position: absolute;
right: 0;
top: 50%;
margin-top: -9px;
}

Placing an image over another image

I have an image like such:
and would like to when i hover, to get another Transparent image on TOP of it.
this is the css:
#imagebox {
Width:338px;
margin-left:10px;
background-color:#12100e;
height:221px;
float:left;
margin-bottom: 10px;
border: 1px solid #232323;
}
#imagebox:hover {
background: url("upplyst-platta.png") no-repeat 0 0;
}
But it is behind the picture, any way to solve this in css? or i have to fix it with javascript?
The image on bottom is generated from db(later on) and cannot be set in css
EDIT:
I saw this solution:
http://jsfiddle.net/bazmegakapa/Zf5am/
but cannot get it to work. even though i copy the whole code, what can be the problem?
Use the z-index to state which order the elements are drawn in.
You can find more information here: http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_pos_z-index.asp
A few other things as well, you might want to add relative image placement based on the parents position and where you say Width in the first style, it should be all lowercase width :-P
Hope this is what you are looking for.
#imagebox {
Width:338px;
margin-left:10px;
background-color:#12100e;
height:221px;
float:left;
margin-bottom: 10px;
border: 1px solid #232323;
background: url("upplyst-platta.png") no-repeat 0 0;
}
#imagebox img{
display: none;
}
#imagebox:hover img{
display: block;
}
and the html structure should be:
<div id="imagebox"> <img src="iWantToShowThisImage.jpg" /></div>
Hope this works for you or provides some inspiration: jsfiddle example #1
Update based on first comment:
Do you mean like this? jsfiddle example #2
2nd update based on edit in question:
Well, the reason for not working is that the hoverimage isn't just transparent: it's a modification of the original.
But it clarifies your wish. I really think my first example is the solution you're looking for. Just replace the url in the style sheet with your transparent png file name.
