how to show changes of an edited file in Coldfusion in localhost? - html

Newbie question...
I have setup an application using Coldfusion/MySQL/Apached Webserver on my localhost.
I can open and navigate through the application. But when I edit any .cfm file and refresh the browser window, nothing happens.
Since this is my first day with Coldfusion... I guess I'm missing something.
Anyone can give me a hint :-)
Thanks!

Probably stating the obvious, but try clearing the cache on your browser if you haven't already. If that doesn't work, try logging into the ColdFusion Administrator, and under Server Settings click the "Clear Template Cache Now" button. If that still doesn't fix your problem you can restart ColdFusion. I'm guessing if you clear the browser cache that will do the trick though ;)

Chrome ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

I have a problem with chrome which don't display some of my static files (css, js mainly). it says that an empty response has been sent by the server
but when I try to "curl" the same URL, it works
I don't really know what's wrong here. I tried disabling cache, clearing all type of cache, incognito mode, disabling chrome extensions... none of those worked
thanks
update
If I try to access the same URL with a random parameter in query string (let's say ?id=1), it works but only once ! when I refresh the page, I get the same error, and so on...
I finally found the problem :
I had something wrong in my .htaccess file. I had module_deflate which wasn't enabled in my apache configuration, so somehow, this prevented my local website to work properly. Just enabled it in my /etc/apache/http.conf and that's it.
If you get the same problem, I would recommend to comment all your .htaccess lines and then uncomment them one by one to see if any of them can cause the problem.
hope this would help someone else.

Unable to create a Collection in Firestore - request blocked:mixed-content

I've been trying to create a new collection at https://console.cloud.google.com/firestore/data?project={PROJECT} however when I do, nothing happens. Opening the dev tools and looking at the Networking tab shows the requests are not going through (see screenshot). I'm using Chrome 83.0.4103.97 on OSX 10.15.4 (19E287). I have tried to go to Site Settings and change unsafe content to Allow, however that did not make a difference.
Anybody got any idea how I could make it work?
#Alice and #Frank resolved it however I think this is worth creating an answer.
In such situation first thing to check if incognito window is behaving the same way. There might be some extension that are blocking request.
In this situation there was "Disconnect" extension which was blocking.
I hope it will help someone in future!

How to manually disconnect webpack dev server from chrome

Can I manually disconnect a chrome window from refreshing automatically when I change my code.
Basically I want to disconnect the websocket connection using devtool or some other way. I tried offline checkbox, but its not helping.
This will come handy for a HTML developer for him to compare the HTML changes done from a developer tool and to the original one.
Right-click the WS connection in the Network panel then select Block Request URL. Based on the websocket.org echo demo, it seems to provide the effect you're looking for.
Have you tried setting the hot module reload to false? There is mention of it in the docs.

This webpage has a redirect loop (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS)

We have a site that is not working in Google Chrome V44. It works well in IE and Firefox. All of sudden after updating chrome browser to V44, we unable to login to the system and just receiving this problem.
We're trying to figure out as why this is happening. We have 2 instances of our system in our server. Our live site is the one that is not working in Chrome V44 while the other - our demo site is fine. The only difference of the these sites is that our live has SSL. So our first impression is that there's a problem with Chrome V44 with our site with certificate.
I think Chrome can't establish secure connection with the site.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
Please help. Thanks.
This is due to a SSL in Chrome V44 where it incorrectly sends a HTTP_HTTPS header to be set, however the HTTPS header is still set correctly. It has been quite widely reported: http://www.zdnet.com/article/brand-new-chrome-44-release-added-a-bug/
https://ma.ttias.be/chrome-44-sending-https-header-by-mistake-breaking-web-applications-everywhere/
In order to stop this, in PHP, I added the following to the very top of my index.php file:
<?php
if (!isset($_SERVER['HTTPS'])) {
$_SERVER['HTTP_HTTPS'] = 0;
}
?>
Ensuring there is no space between the ?> and the next
I've recently had the chrome redirect loop on gmail.
Possibly significantly, I was doing some work involving changing my system time and it hasn't worked since. This guide helped to do that.
There is an available work-around, which is to use gmail in incognito mode, which does still work, although requires you to log in each time
In that case I would say this is an internal problem with you organization's setup. I would speak with your SysAdmin or IT staff. But just to be sure, use your phone carrier's internet, or a cafe nearby, basically something off your network to check if you can reproduce the error.
The issue with my MVC solution was, i had recently updated complete Nuget packages in my solution. After the update i forgot to update
<assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
<dependentAssembly>
section with new dll bindings which installed while update. So in my hosting server due to connectionstring issue, i was not overwriting the current .config file. So once i did the update in assemblyBinding section in .config file the issue gone.
There might be many reasons for the redirect loop. If you are confident your setup is done properly without any errors, then it might be the issue with your browser. You can try the following
Deleting cache and cookies
Correcting your system time (if it is not set to automatic)
Resetting the browser

You should be able to fix this problem, you can try to clear your cookies in your browser
Open your Chrome browser.
Type "chrome://settings/clearBrowserData" in the address bar and press Enter.
Make sure you are clearing items from the Beginning of time. Then select Cookies and other site data. Click the Clear browsing data button.

URL opening error in Flash CS4

I have a script that loads a php page for variables. There are no problems when the swf is uploaded to the site but when I run it locally, I keep getting "Error opening URL" messages. I'm using absolute pathing and if I paste the URL my script is using in a browser, the correct page opens. This only started happening after the site changed servers. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks.
The "Error opening URL" seems to be caused by a number of issues. I have tried to keep track of all the different solutions I have used in the past to fix the problem. Ever time I encounter the "Error opening URL" the solution is different. Hopefully one of these solutions helps you.
I usually find the following solutions on google.
- Make sure crossdomain policy is setup correctly.
- Set a bunch of variables like Security.allowDomain(domainHERE)
- Change publishing setting for your flash file.
- Make sure your connecting to the right url.
Here is what works for me... usually.
1) Make sure you are connecting to the right URL.
Use the full path, don't use relative links. Also, copy and paste the url in your web browser to see if it connects.
You can also use flash.events.HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS to view the HTTP headers but I would recommend you check out solution 5 first. Its a much easier way with more details.

2) Put a crossdomain.xml file in the root of your server (usually public_html or www)
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM
"http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="*"/>
</cross-domain-policy>

3) While editing the flash file, press Ctrl + Shift + F12
Make sure Local playback security is set to Access Network Only.
4) If you are hosting locally using MAMP, WAMP, XAMP or something similar, skip this step. Otherwise, Call your webhost and yell at them ;)
I have hosted with godaddy, hostgator and liquidweb. It seems that all of them have some kind of firewall setup blocking flash from accessing the files you want it to.
Give your host a call, tell them your problem and ask them to whitelist the files you are trying to connect to and you should be good to go.
Remember, everytime you want to connect to a new file, it has to be whitelisted. I always forget this and it takes me 3 hours to figure out why changing the name of my file or moving it messes everything up. :)
5) Use Charles Web Debugging Proxy Program to gather some important information.
I will break this down into a few steps.
Usually for me the "Error opening URL" is due to a coding problem on the site I'm trying to connect to.
Open Charles
Run your flash file
Select the site your flash file tried to connect to in Charles side bar.
View the Response tab near the top.
On the Response tab you should see a few other tabs near the bottom. View the Headers tab.
See what HTTP_Status was returned. Then look search this page to see what that status code means. It will give a somewhat broad definition but it still helps narrow things down.
500 Means a problem with your server... If your server is running fine, then its most likely a code problem.
Then view the Text tab near the bottom of the Response tab. This will show you exactly what that webpage looks like to flash. If your server is in some kind of debug mode where it displays errors, this is where you will see them.
Well I hope this helps someone. I will try to continue to update it with more issues and solutions I run into. This is probably the number one problem I run into with flash. Super annoying!
Crossdomains.xml file possibly?
not really a solution, but a work-around:
before CTRL-ENTER on your .fla, do a CTRL-S
this seems to work about 90% of the time for me
NOTE: I never had this problem until one random day about 6 months ago. Now it plagues most of my old projects, cs4 or cs6.
